I like some of the vets there. Only the new ones. after a while, i feel pressured into getting things done and prescribed to my docs. Which i don't appreciate. The place is clean but at times they are not on schedule. also, had to play tug a war to get a prescription for my pets for tick and flea prevention which I found 53% cheaper thru online RX. I felt the vet clinic was upset I did not purchase Bravecto thru them. which would have cost me $130 vs. $75 online. I don't think i should feel guilty for looking for better deal on meds, nor pressured to buy stuff thru the clinic. Read Less

I have gone here a few times with my dog and ever visit is worse than the last. Just a week ago I had his nails trimmed. I was 15 minutes early to my appointment and wasn't even see for 30 minutes after my appointment time. Then the vet thought he needed a snake bite shot when it was a simply nail trim. Another 30 minutes and his nails aren't all short. The vet said that she couldn't get them all so I should take him on a walk or come back another time to get them trimmed. When I went to pay my total came to $32. I told her that I had called earlier and someone told me the nail trim would be under $25. She then said oh yeah your right it's only $20.55 my bad. Absolutely a mess. I work at Panda Express as an assistant manager and I have never seen a business handled so poorly. Maybe it's the employees or the boss. I just wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. A place I would recommend is VCA Sunset Animal Medical Center. CH location misfiled my paperwork ( had my dog listed under random people’s names) several times, had to repeat to them several times to not microchip my already microchipped dog, horrible bed side manner. This vet used to be great in my opinion. Not sure what has happened but it is going downhill fast if you ask me. Prices have doubled and customer service reps are rude and worthless. Love this animal clinic!!! I have been taking my animals to them now for about 10 years or so...use to go to the one in Citrus Heights but transferred to Fair Oaks because it was closer. They have a great staff and they adore my pets and treat them as if they were their own. Couldn't ask for more than that right? Dr. Lennon and Dr. Broaddus are both great vets! They really take the time to explain procedures and you leave there with all the knowledge you need to help with your animals care. Did I mention their office visits are half what others charge?? I can say for a fact, that Mercy Pet Hospital has been great to us and our four-legged family members! We've had more than our share of problems the last couple years. I was recommended to this place by a friend and I loved it from my first impression. I've used them three times now and each time everyone has been really friendly. When we are worried about our pets it's nice to have a calm friendly face to reassure you. The clinic is welcoming and open. I love Mercy Pet Hospital. I was referred to them by another vet after an emergency vet visit. Started out at the Tupelo Drive location which is closer to my boyfriend's house and more recently visited the Hazel Ave location which is closer to my house. Both locations are superb. The staff is always so friendly, both on the phone and in person. Getting appointments has been easy, especially if you're willing to go to either location. They treat my dog like one of their own which really helps build trust between me and the staff and my dog and the staff. The price for services is very reasonable and I've never felt pressured to pay for "extras" that aren't needed. The place is very clean and comfortable. This office has been great. The pricing is very responsible. Shots are 1/3 of the cost that I was paying at a vet on Hazel and Winding Way. I have never felt pressured or up sold. They have seen my pets with emergencies as well as for routine care. I have read a lot of reviews stating long hold times on the phone. What a great place to take my dog! Dr. Richards was so nice and took the time to explain the best treatment for my dog. My dog needed extensive dental work and I was a little worried for her to go under. the worst of the worst. had I visited this location prior to the Citrus Heights location, I never would have visited a Mercy Hospital again. the receptionist is the only thing working well here. the male nurse who assisted us, who's name wasn't worth remembering, was deplorable. made me feel like we were cattle that needed to be hurried along. flat out rude and needs to find other work. the doctor, with her shifty eyes and scattered cadence, was dizzying. even though this location is just minutes from my home, I would drive the extra 25mins to avoid this clown show and spare my pets. Got all my puppy vaccinations here and I am afraid to admit I am very pleased with this clinic, so far! Don't want to spoil it! I have 7 pets, whom all I am planning to bring here first if I'll need to. I am loving how friendly the front desk associates are, and the wait time hasn't been all that bad at all. I LOVE THIS PLACE! They are amazing and not too pricey! They were so thoughtful and nice. They took amazing care for my dog when she got spayed. Took my dogs in for there shots gave them there shot records as they asked but now has been a hassle to get there rabies changed to 3 year instead of the 1 year . It's a joke I'm put on hold for at least 10 minutes at a time then told there office manager will give me a call who never called me . So done on top of it the 18 year old cat I adopted and brought there for shots they want to run all kinds of text on to almost 1000.00 dollars she just needed shots and deworming I'm a vet tech and so I know if the cat needs other things done . I regret not doing some research before bringing my cat here. I can see why they weren't very busy and were able to get me an appointment the same day I called. Dr. Richards either is not at all good at her profession or she is indeed trying to rip customers off with repeated visits, unnecessary treatment and vague diagnoses. In any case, I took the advice of a fellow Yelper and took my cat to another animal hospital where the exam was done in my presence and I was given a concrete diagnosis with treatment in house and take-home medications that came out to less than I was charged at Mercy for treatment that was completely unhelpful. I am happy to say my cat is already feeling better less than a day later; I just regret the suffering he went through the entire time I dealt with Mercy. My sister recommended this vet to me. Great people and the best affordable prices you will find anywhere. The only problem that my beloved Kitten didn't like was the cone. He has been having so much bad luck since having the cone on. He got his foot stuck in it and it literally put him in a panic mode. Needless to say, I had to rescue him by taking the cone off. Then, somehow he got his head outside of the cone. We need to come up with a better solution for these animals after having surgery. These cones are not considered a safe method. Had to put my 14 yr. Old Black Cocker Spaniel down over the weekend. A very hard thing to do. They took care of us pretty quickly. The staff was very friendly for having to deal with this daily....a job i could never do!! Aside from not getting the IV in properly the first time. It went somewhat smoothly. If I could give this place a NEGATIVE star, I would! I came here with my dog, and they told me my dog needed surgery asap for her torn ACL, but we had to do some x-rays to confirm the diagnosis. The vet tech told me that we would get a call later on that day, mind you it's been 2 days already. Their first excuse was that the Dr. Was sick, so that's why they didn't call me, however, they should have let me know. And now I'm calling 2 days later my initial visit, and they said they still don't have my x-rays. WTF!!!! I was given a false quote over the phone $90 something for some x-rays, but charge me an extra $181 to get an opinion. DO NOT, I REPEAT, come here if you care about your dog! They don't have their best interest, and only care about making money. I'm going back to Akaal pet hospital. We were seen at Mercy Pet Hospital on an emergency basis. Our cat, Willie, was in apparent pain and he was taken in on the suspicion of a blockage in his bladder. The staff at the front desk were great and the technician assisting us was very understanding given my snappyness at the time. Willie was examined by Dr. Matthew Broaddus and I don't think we could have seen a better Doctor. He was extremely informative and took great care with Willie over the 4 days he was hospitalized. Coincidentally, we already had an appointment for vaccinations for two other cats during Willie's stay at the hospital. This experience was not as good, but not terrible nonetheless. Our kitten was examined by Dr. Netherwood. She suggested our cat was only 3 weeks, but we had already had the kitten for about 8 weeks.. So that made us question her expertise quite a bit. A tech administered the vaccines. Though she was older, she seemed less experienced and was scared to grab the ~2lb kitten. She had to insert the needle under the skin twice and some of the vaccine leaked out onto kitten. Our 17 lb cat also had vaccine boosters that day.... Probably the worst day of his life. He was netted, they broke his collar, and was scuffed/scratched raw. Needless to say, he didn't want to cooperate. Dr. Netherwood made it a point to come back to the exam room to tell us he was the worst cat she's ever dealt with... He's just a big sweet baby. His bark (meow?) is worse than his bite. So very disappointed that after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent, Mercy Pet Hospital turned away my dog who had nearly drowned this morning. After calling at 11:09 am and telling them what happened and that I was on my way they said come in in, but when I got there they told me to go to the emergency vet as they were too busy and I didn't have an appointment. She was seizing while I ran her to the car and and raced to Atlantic Street Vet where they immediately took her back to get her stabilized by warming her and giving her much needed oxygen. (Which Mercy could have easily done) Those additional 20 minutes could have ultimately been the difference between life and death for my dog. What vet turns away an animal in need? At the very least they could have stabilized her and then had me transfer her to the all night clinic. Very disappointed in their lack of quality care in an emergency.Read Less

Usually this is a good hospital. But a couple weeks ago I called in to refill my dogs heart worm prescription and on the phone they told me it would take 24 hours. Well, 24 hours later I go to pick it up and the receptionist tells me it could take another 24 hours. This was 30 minutes before closing, however I refused to leave without at least a written prescription so my dog could take the medicine on time. Finally, an HOUR LATER, they bring me a written prescription and the ASSISTANT lectures me in how heart worm preventives work. I called in my dogs heart worm prescription to be refilled. On the phone when I called they said it would take up to 24 hours to fill it. Okay, not bad. I call the next day (more then 24 hours later) and they told me that it wasn't filled and could take another whole day. Usually this place is a five star hospital, but the employees need to tell the clients the correct wait time the first time. Amazing people here. They are very caring for my furry babies. I live in Lincoln and it is worth the drive for how much more affordable they are and their customer service. One of our dogs was attacked by another dog and needed surgery. It was going to cost almost $3k at another vet and was just over $1200.00 here. It would have been less if we would have gone to them in the first place instead of waiting 24 hrs like the first vet told us to. Vaccinations are the best price you'll find for miles. I took one of my semi-feral colony cats, Mara, to their clinic in Citrus Heights yesterday and they were fantastic. Mara has a large open bite on the back of her neck. I brought her into the clinic in a feral cat trap. They knocked her out, cleaned out her wound, gave her a shot of Covenia, and now we are keeping her in a very large cage at our house until she is totally healed.Read Less

Took my puppy to get spayed here a few weeks ago because it was listed online as one of the more affordable places to go. Spent a little more than I expected, however it was most likely because she was already in heat and made the procedure a little more complicated. And they also prescribed some antibiotics (in addition to pain meds) after finding that she had a low count of white blood cells, which could indicate an infection. Pretty cool how the e-collar was free though. Other places I have taken my pets to would have charged extra. I also liked how they really took the time to go over the pricing and make sure I really understood what might go on during the surgery before I signed any papers or made any payments. They also called me a few days later to follow up on my dog's recovery and reassured me what the normal healing phases should look like. This place is not affordable. The vet checks out your pet then the vet tech comes in with a "quote". This is the moment where it ceases to be about your pet and all about your money! I had hoped this place would be different but it's not! It's actually worse! My cat was dehydrated and running a fever of 105. The wanted $82 to give him fluids. A bag of fluids cost them $4, if that. I spend over $200 at my visit and they refused to charge me a reasonable price so that I could get my cat some relief from the fever. Once this issue is resolved there is no way I'm coming back....a bag of fluid at valley vet costs $9.99....you can google it...this management here knows you need it hence the crazy mark up...So they refused to charge me the "market rate" for this and I had to drive down the street to another vet to pick up a bag where the total cost for 1 liter and all supplies was $20.88-that was at VCA Greenback. Amazingly affordable, especially considering the high quality of service & care they provide. I've gone to veterinary hospitals literally 3x as expensive, and I never will again. The doctors, vet techs, the reception staff at Mercy are all top-notch. You can tell they really care about what they do... their love of animals is obviously the driving force behind their business... versus other vet offices that are seemingly just out to make money. The facility is clean & welcoming, the staff is friendly, caring, & knowledgeable. They are always willing to take time to fully address all my concerns and really seem emotionally invested in their work. My boston terrier had to be seen several times in one month (reoccurring issue due to no fault of the vet), and was thrilled every time we walked in the door... happy to see her friends, even in spite of all the discomfort she's been through. These doctors and all vet staff are outstanding! Our poor kitty Silvio was sick and we didn't know what was wrong with him. I left a message as I had called after hours and the very next morning right when they opened we received a call and they got him in right away. They ran all tests necessary and promptly administered an antibiotic injection.  After getting lab work back it was concluded that he had crystals in his urine. They recommended a highly medicated brand of food.   As my husband took the message he wasn't really clear on information as he relayed the message to me.  I called and spoke with Cheryl ( or Shirley,sorry) she was so sweet and very informative but still offered to have one of the Doctors call me later.  Dr Netherlands called a few hours later and answered all of my questions. My fiancé and I drove out first thing this morning to make it right when they opened. Imagine my surprise when we find out they no longer take walk-in appointments. Before they did not take appointments and only took walk-ins. On Mercy's Yelp About Us page it states they take walk-ins. No where on the website or their Facebook page does it say they changed their policies of appointment only. What a huge disappointment and incredibly inconvenient to not have known. I would have appreciated if their voicemail stated they are now appointment only as it would have saved my time and gas. Read Less
