I'm so happy that I have found a vet that really balances great quality care with affordable solutions. The care we have received for our pets is top notch. My dog was diagnosed with skin cancer a few months ago and Dr. Palm recommended that we take him to an oncologist. Luckily, the prognosis was good and we were told that Dr. Palm could remove the affected cancer areas and further treatment may not be necessary. We had 10 spots removed 5 weeks ago and one of the wounds isn't healing up as nicely as we had hoped. Dr. Palm has checked the progress of this wound site every week and has not charged me for the appointments. I feel really good about my boy's quality of life moving forward. Read Less

They kept my cat in their freezer for a month and a half before sending him off to be cremated. I was very unhappy with the "confusion" about what I was going to do with my dead cat. I already paid for the cremation and everything. so why there was confusion?? I'm not quite sure. I'll never take my animals there again... Read Less

I love Dr. Palm and Dr. Jerburg! They are great experienced vets! They were very respectful of my budget and only treated my dog with the essentials needed. Unfortunately our family dog of 14 years has reached the end of her life and we need to put her to sleep. Her quality life has really decreased recently and is having trouble controlling her pee, not eating, etc. We have taken our dog to Cal West since we purchased her as a puppy, yet for some reason we have been calling for 3 weeks without receiving a returned phone call as we have tried to schedule a time to put her down. So now she is suffering unnecessarily, this sad time for our family is being prolonged and now it is being exacerbated with our increased frustrations with Cal West. A business that is incapable of returning phone calls - especially those of long-term customers - doesn't deserve to stay in business. Read Less

I love Cal West!! My boyfriend Nd I adopted a dog from SPCA in Vacaville and we came to Cal West for a follow up appointment and the doctors there are amazing!! They take really good care of the dogs and are very informative with information. The staff is so sweet and know who you are as soon as you walk in the door it's awesome!! We have been taking our dog her quite a bit since she was neutered and had a reaction to the stitches and let me tell they gave us so much information and told us how to take care of her wound and asked how she was and just love her just like my boyfriend and I love her!!Best place to take your pet if your in need of a vet!! One of the hardest things to do in being a pet owner is deciding when you have to put your best friend down. Long story short, my AmStaff Honey had a growth on her that became very aggressive in the last couple of weeks and ended up bursting. I brought her in and she was seen by Dr. Bock. It was cancer. Considering the type, size, location and Honey's age surgery might have been a long shot. Dr. Bock gave me a lot of scenarios and the pros and cons for each. Not once did she ever pressure me to take a certain route or make a decision. Dr. Bock made our decision to relieve Honey of her pain and suffering as comforting as possible in this tough situation. And most of all she made Honey as comfortable as she possibly could during this final visit. I can't Thank Dr. Bock and the staff at Cal-West enough for making this painful decision of ours to let our Honey girl finally get some rest as comforting as they did. I have been taking my dog, Ghost, to Cal West for a while now. With all the trouble my dog stirs up (not actual trouble, she just has a few persistent issues), I am more than happy with how well the Cal West Staff has treated us. At one point Ghost had an obstruction (which thankfully had passed) and Dr. Jurberg printed off all of Ghosts x-rays and medical history incase we needed to run to the ER since they were closed the following day.I usually take Ghost to see Dr. Bock. She is amazing! She has seen us on short notice, answered all of my ridiculous questions and eased my concerns with whatever is going on with my dog. Not to mention she and the techs are amazing with Ghost. It has been hard to find a place that makes me feel comfortable and at ease taking my pup to. I am definitely glad I happened upon this gem. I took my Dad's cat to this vet right after my Dad died. They were all so wonderful. They treated us humans and our cat with such compassion and seemed to really care. They are by far the best veterinarian and staff I've ever dealt with. My Dad's cat ended up loosing and eye due to an infection. However they did everything humanly possible to keep his eye and made sure he was comfortable and out of danger of any infection returning before he returned home. They kept him a few days while he was recovering. After he returned home they rechecked him often to ensure he was okay. They are wonderful and reasonable in price. I wouldn't go anywhere else. BTW I've NEVER written a review before, but I couldn't let such care and compassion go without sharing just how great the entire staff is at Cal West Read Less
