Dr. Heit is amazing and his cost is extremely fair. Everyone in the office is so friendly and patient with my (not so well behaved) dog. The longest I've had to wait for an appointment was a week and that was only because he was on vacation. Worst customer service! Long time, good customers get no respect if they happen to need assistance once in 15+ years. Your better off taking your pet to an office who truly cares about your pet and you and not just their bottom line. We all need to earn a living but we all are human too...never turn your nose up because one day it could easily be you in need of kindness. About a week ago, my dog was crying and whining every time he stepped. I took him to a different vet before my boyfriend and mom took him to this vet while I was at work. From what I understand, the vet who saw my dog was ABSOLUTELY wonderful!!! She was very hands on and able to get down on the floor with my dog and really check him out even though she was very pregnant. Very pleased with the quality of service she provided. My dog was having pain coming from his back/neck area and we were told to keep him from running and jumping too much. One baby gate at the stairs later and he has stopped crying completely. My experience with Fairfield Animal Hospital was great! I recently had to put down my 11 year old cat, Boog.I had brought him to Sunset Animal Hospital many times in the past & they always told me they couldn't find anything wrong with Boog, although he had stopped grooming his self, he was vomiting daily, & losing weight like crazy. He went downhill very quickly & a few weeks ago, I knew I needed to put him down because he was dying. We called Fairfield Animal Hospital on a Saturday & told them the situation & that Boog needed to be put down immediately. They said we had to arrive within about a 30 minute period because they were closing, which we did. I walked in holding my dying cat in my arms, the coolest cat ever, whom I've had for the last 11 years, & I totally broke down crying. The staff was very understanding & helpful. They let us spend as much time as we needed with Boog after he passed & I asked if I could have some tools to take his paw prints with & they provided them. We also had Boog cremated & the our total bill was about $190. The cremation took about 10 business days & the little wooden urn was included. They even sent me a sympathy card in the mail, which I thought was very compassionate. Fairfield Animal Hospital has become our new vet. R.I.P ~ Boog ~ The coolest cat ever! Read Less

I can't praise this place enough. They had me scheduled for a consult 21st of April(all this happened in a phone call today btw). This was due to a "only a certain amount of new clients at a time" policy they have, which frustrated me I must admit, but I was just a nervous dog mom. I asked that they please call me as soon and a new client spot opened up sooner, and 15 minutes later one opened up this very afternoon! My German Shepard has a broken canine fang and I was very concerned it would need to be extracted or worse, a root canal(UC Davis quoted that at $3,800!) so I stopped in and Dr. Height and his staff were an absolute pleasure! Hardly any wait time and he informed me no further care was necessary, and the visit was so quick and hassle free, he even waved the appointment fee! Talk about helpful! I just got off the phone with Fairfield Animal Hospital and was very disappointed. I am watching my daughter's dog. He somehow injured his foot so I called the minute that they opened. I was not even asked what was wrong with him. They only cared that because I had apparently not been there in 5 years (my records deleted), I was a new client and that they "only see 1 new client per day". The lack of concern for this poor animal spoke volumes to me. Go someplace where they care about animals. Read Less

Sadly disappointed in the lack of concern showed when I called first thing this morning about a dog is am babysitting. They didn't even ask what was wrong, they were only concerned that they could not find me in their system and that it must have been 5 years since I had been there so they wouldn't see him. I just called in tears to see if they could fit my elderly cat in this afternoon. He isn't feeling well, and I'm very concerned about him. I'm not sure what to do. I recently moved to the area and was referred to this place by a family member who said they helped her when her dog was ill.  The receptionist told me that new clients are booked out for a month and to try calling around elsewhere. If you are looking for a new vet or need to see someone in a pinch, don't even try this place. They will NOT see you! Even if it is an animal HOSPITAL!The lady started off as a nice person but as soon as she found out my dog was not a regular patient she turned into a complete witch! She told me that they didn't have any new patient openings until August. My dog has an ear infection NOW! Just want to be seen once and get some medication for my dog. He is the best vet! I travel a hour to go to him because the price is still cheaper then were i live. He has properly dianogsed my dogs illnesses everytime. The staff is really aweet and caring. First time here and Dr. Heit was very nice and helpful. It took awhile to get an appointment here. They were so busy. The price here was really reasonable. I was inform that office visit ran about $49.Since my dog had to do blood work they offer two type $50 or $150. For Dental work it runs $150. It was nice to see that the office visit was waived :) Read Less

I am very happy with this animal hospital and Dr. Heit. There is no hard sell for procedures, prescriptions and add ons that some animal hospitals have been notorious for. Dr. Heit comes across as a good old fashioned country vet who is very good natured with the animals. Excellent vet. I am so thrilled to have taken my shih tzu here today. She is prone to having ear infections due to her floppy ears. I have taken her to other vets in the area and they are well aware of this but continue to give me medicine to last for one occurrence. Which means I have to pay numerous doctor visits knowing her infections are reoccurring. However Dr. Heit decided to not only give her a cortisone injection but also provided me with medicine to have on hand when she does get those infections. I've been taking all of my dogs to Dr. Heit for years.  I have also recommended him to many friends who go to him as well.  They are caring and they aren't out to price gouge you either.  My husband jokes that his followup phone call is better than our own family doctor (who we rarely hear from).  He has always called to ask how the are doing after a few days. The best Veterinarian I've ever been to! I cannot recommend him highly enough.I have a cat that is psychotic about the vet office. The staff here could not be more understanding and helpful.I took my cat in to be checked because something was definitely very wrong. After tests it turned out he had diabetes. The Vet gave me a prescription for a very cheap insulin and helped me find the cheapest place to get it. The office bill was half what I expected. Then he called once a week to check on his progress. I wish I could find a human doctor like that.I brought my cat back for a check. We couldn't run any tests because psycho cat was in full attack mode. But based on his symptoms the Vet increased the dosage. I went to pay as I left and there was no charge. Amazing.Everyone is so friendly. It's clear they do what they do because they love animals. Best vet EVER!!!! I've been going here for 17 years, the same age of my cats. Dr.Heit is wonderful. He wont charge you for something random that your fuzzy friend doesnt need. He's streight forward and a utterly amusing comic.. visiting is like paying for a comedy club pass with extreme animal knowledge. Thay have an amazing staff. The back office ppl are helpful, sweet, and careing. Front desk, Karen Heit, is the most insightful and sweet person. If I could, id talk with her for hours. My entire family's fuzzy friends go here rangeing from S.F to Sacramento due to the reasonable priceing. Sorry if I sound long winded. Dr Heit and his staff are great. My sister recommended him and I've been pleased with the care he has given my two dogs. I especially appreciate his honesty when he explained the treatment options but then told me that my dog would heal on his own, that medical intervention was unnecessary, and that there were also home remedies that were just as effective as anything he could do. That's the kind of vet I can trust! Also, his demeanor with my pets is amusing -- I've never had a vet with a sense of humor like his. I met Dr Heit when I was blessed to have my Baby Girl, he has cared for Baby Girls Maternal grandmother, her mother and 3 of her litters as well as Baby Girl. Dr Heit is a dedicated, caring and supportive Dr. I am a parent of 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren and the way he cares for my Baby Girl and her family is as if they were truly my birth babies. As a moderately obsessive pet owner, I was careful in choosing a vet when I moved to the area. This was the only vet's office that was pleased I wanted to see the facility.
