Every 3 months my 2 sister Boarder Terriors go in to Blue Ravine Animal Hosp. to get groomed. We like to refer to it as "The girls spa day". Misty, BRAH's resident groomer is wonderful with "the girls". I'm sure she's great with all breeds, but she has a special place in her heart for terriors. In addition to bathing, trimming hair & nails, cleaning ears, expressing anal glands, etc. She thoroughly checks them over for any health issue we might be missing. I have had 5 spine operations and Im fused multiple places. I have severe carpal tunnel on both hands. Knowing that, here is my review. I returned 1000 miles to Sacto glad to know my 7 small dogs were going to see a particular BR vet. There was a traffic issue and I got there 10 minutes late. The vet tech was great. My special vet was snarkey and didnt allow time for my questions. She was snarkey about the coat, nails and medical issue. I could hear the "talk" clearly behind the door. Talk about who the managing doctor was etc. I live an hour away and came to BR just because of this vet. Breaks my heart. Read Less

Don't recommend. We've been coming to BRAH for 2 years and their service and staff has been a good experience until yesterday. We brought our shy Aussie for vaginitis her symptoms were frequent licking and swelling but other than that she was fine. She walked, ran, caught her ball and frisbee. We take her into BRAH and see Dr. Wolf. They shave her and put a antibiotic cream and lidocaine for the pain - which she wasn't showing any of. 10 minutes later they return her to us she's all freaked out and now the next day she doesn't want t walk. You can tell whatever they put on her was burning because all she wanted to do it lick it to sooth it. It is very uncomfortable for her to walk so she avoid walking all day today. I brought in a fully functioning happy dog and in 10 minutes got back a broken one that is in pain and sad. I'm very upset and i can't get a vet to call me back which tells me they don't care for me or my pet so I will be finding a new Vet. Read Less

Money making scammers! I know MANY friends with first hand experience that feel the same, but we know not many people post their complaints. I am! I went through this with them a few years ago after needing surgery for my other dog (initial estimate of $1800 became almost $3000 bill without consultation, yes that does make a difference!) Brought our new puppy in for the wellness package as they seemed reasonably priced for the package deal. And all I received the entire time was judgement, attitude, incompetence and differing stories. For a healthy problem-free puppy! Now I was just denied 3rd party flea & heartworm treatment because "she has to have a wellness check up and test" and then "it's the law" oh really, nice now I am being threatened with the law in order for you to make money! She is 14 months old, had her last wellness check up this Spring, was spayed 2 months ago (with another check-up) and has had continual prevention since we got her. BS. I saw Dr Sweet today with my cat Jessie. She was awesome. So kind, gentle, and loving with my girl. April was our vet asst , she was friendly and it was so heartwarming that she thought Jessie was beautiful. The office was new and super clean. We have found a new Vet home. :-) Read Less

I have been going here for five years with Shih Tzu. My mother goes here as well for her poodle. We recently brought our lab that we adopted who is quite challenging. They were more than patient but caring & compassionate. The vet tech and the vet were amazing with him. They answered all my questions guided me in the right direction for classes. I've been going to this vet for all my animals for over 10 years. My boy Charlie dog has had many issues come up in the last year (seizures, herniated disk, collapsed trachea and eye ulcer). He went in recently for a blood work up and xrays as he is one long term Rimadyl and Pheno which require regular check ups. Well the blood work came back as early signs of kidney disease. The best treatment is diet change. Well apparently Charlie hasn't liked any of his kidney friendly foods and one day decided to go on a hunger strike until he got his old food back. In the last week I've been working with Dr. Wolf and Michelle on getting him to eat again. He loves FreshPet but that is too much protein for his kidneys. So yesterday they suggested I put out all the different kidney foods I have and see which one he goes for. It worked (for the first try at least). They were so nice to talk me through my options and doing what is best for Charlie. if that means sneaking good food in with the "bad" whatever get him to eat. Also want to point out how great their staff is. Michelle worked with me on his food options. Chris is also so sweet to greet Charlie even if he isn't his vet tech that day. And last week Tania went above and beyond to make sure Charlie got his anti-seizure meds when the pharmacy forgot to refill them (even though she spent over 10 minutes on the phone with them to refill it days earlier). He was completely out and the pharmacy had no record of the vet approval. She called them right away and whatever she said got them refilled at once. I've dealt with almost all of the vets at this hospital and their staff and trust they have my Charlie's best interest in mind. They don't oversell you on treatments you don't need or shouldn't be done on an elderly dog. They are about quality of life, not the quantity of your bill. I just wanted to let them know how wonderful it is to have a trusted vet hospital, especially nowadays when most are corporation and customer service isn't a high priority with others. Love this place! Fantastic doctors, excellent customer service, and they have literally saved my Chow Chow's life. We always felt incredibly welcomed and well taken care of from the moment we walked through the door. They even have a fun area for a little kids to play and free coffee and bottled water. I live in Santa Rosa now but have considered driving all the way back to Folsom more than a few times because of how outstanding their practice is. Beautiful, clean facilities and a wonderful staff are only two of the many reasons I switched to Blue Ravine for my pets. I used to attend a different clinic in town, but I always felt like I was getting up-sold on everything and couldn't get out under $500. However, the most important thing is how well Blue Ravine treated my girl, Maggie. The vet was amazing and immediately gave me confidence in her abilities when she knelt down to pet Maggie. My cat was dying. I got to the vet at 6:45AM, knowing the office hours started at 7:30AM. We sat in the cold until an employee came by. She didn't say 'Hi' or seem concerned about my cat. She stood and smoked a cig and stared at us while calmly listening to my cat scream in pain. At exactly 7:30 she open the door. My cat and I went in and sat on the floor. The employee said the Dr. does not get in until 8:30. She offered us no help, didn't bother to even look at my cat, didn't offer to call the vet. She ignored us. The vet finally came in and put my cat to sleep. She had a stroke. The doctor was fine, but the employee showed a total disregard for the pain my cat was in. She showed no sympathy, no caring. It's hard to believe she liked pets at all. I will never go back. Read Less

This is THE place to go if you have Bulldogs. We drive up from the east bay to take our dogs to BRAH. The entire staff is great. We especially love Dr. Wolfe, she is the best. We moved from the Bay Area where we went to Adobe and saw Dr. Koga exclusively for my pugs. We were so lucky to have found Blue Ravine and Dr. Yee. She is now our provider and we are always happy by the excellent service as well as the plethora of information we receive about what is happening during our visits with our fur babies. We have been taking our Golden Doodle (Ace) to BRAH for over 3 years and we (including Ace) love it there! We like the friendly, professional staff and always feel welcome. I have been taking my pets to BRAH for 8 years now. I have always found the staff to be pleasant and professional. I have cats and dogs of varying ages and sizes. I have had to have Dr. Sweet put 2 old and suffering pets to sleep and she was very kind, respectful, empathic and gentle. I have found the staff to be equally kind to both my dogs and cats.Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but nothing unreasonable. I do recommend them to my friends. Read Less
