I took my dog here to get a check up and have a couple lumps checked out. Right when I walked in, I felt very welcomed by Dr. Weitz and his staff. In regards to the growths, he was worried about one of them. After some discussion, we decided to have both of them removed. I scheduled an appointment for the next week due to the possibility that the growth may be cancerous. They called after the surgery and gave me an update on my pup (who happens to be 13 1/2), which was very calming to know everything went well. Dr. Weitz and staff are amazing.  I've been bringing my 12 year old poodle to Dr. Weitz for 10 years now.  I liked my original vet but he was just too far away.  So I was a little reluctant making that first appointment.  But after I walked in the door and was greeted by a welcoming, caring staff, I was feeling better.  But then when Dr. Weitz walked into the room and got on the floor to greet my butt wagging poodle, both Bubba and I were happy!  You know what they say about your first meeting, it tells a lot about a person.  Bubba to this day is actually excited to go to the vet!  He gives Dr. Weitz a nub wagging greeting every time!Over the years Dr. Weitz has been the most caring, competent and knowledgeable vet. He takes the time to really explain what is going on, and uses the least invasive treatment possible before moving on, if need be.  We've had the normal dog issues but until recently I had to rush Bubba over to see him, and after an examination, he said he is very sick and needs to get to thecritical care hospital to get treatment.  Dr. Weitz called over there and talked with the Dr. to let her know we were on our way and what is going on.  He remained in constant contact with the Dr., even in the evenings and on the weekend to keep updated.  Dr. Weitz even gave me his personal cell phone number to call him at any time, and if we couldn't get answers we wanted from the hospital, and he would. The follow up care we've been receiving after Bubba was sprung from the hospital is nothing more than amazing.  Dr. Weitz himself has called with further test results and checking up on him.  He asked me to text him and give him updates.  Wow.  That is a caring person.Dr. Weitz treats everyone like family and you can see he truly loves animals and loves his profession.  He has a natural gift of a big heart, talks in layman terms so you actually understand whats happening, and is extremely thorough and knowledgeable. The staff is wonderful as well.  They are very helpful and kind and really put you at ease when you walk in the door.I would never go anywhere else and I highly recommend you don't either! I have been a client of Dr. Wietz for a number of years.  I went to him initially because of issues with my Border Collie.  I was so impressed with his compassion and his expertise with irritable bowel syndrome,a common, but devastating  problem with the breed.  We were able to control her symptoms and give her a number of years of  good health in her senior years.  Everyone at the office is friendly, helpful , and willing to go above and beyond to help.  I highly recommend  Mile Square for any and all issues with animals. I don't think we could find a more caring, competent vet anywhere in the world.  Our dog was having major problems and we took her to vet specialists.  Once our dog's problems seemed to be resolved, we asked them for a referral to a vet who they felt was extraordinary; they recommended Dr. Weitz. From the first time we met him, both our dog and our family knew that Dr. Weitz truly lived up to his sterling reputation.  Our dog has continued to have various issues over the years, but each one has been handled with knowledge and care.  We especially like Dr. Weitz's approach to treating illnesses.  He tries to find the least invasive, most economical way to treat your pet while still achieving a satisfactory result.  If he suggests a test or procedure, we can be sure that it is necessary.I am usually loathe to give referrals to others (their expectations and mine have not always been in synch), however, I am more than  happy to tell people about Dr. Weitz.  When you treat your pet as part of the family, you only want the best.  Dr. Weitz is just that. Dr. Weitz is a very experienced and practical general veterinarian. My wife is a non-practicing vet and she has very high standards for our animals' care. Dr. Weitz has helped care for our 17 year old cat with heart failure and our 18 year old cat with renal failure. Dr. Weitz has a wonderful bedside manner. His staff are friendly and helpful. He has a practical diagnostic approach and he does what is needed-- he isn't going to fleece you for unnecessary testing. Mile Square is an excellent place to take your animal for general veterinary care. In reading the small handful of negative comments about Dr. Weitz-- I don't think that these people understand how veterinary medicine works (yes, it actually does cost money!) and/or have realistic expectations about how veterinary medicine works and/or blame him for a bad outcome. I have total comfort and confidence in Dr. Weitz and I trust his clinical judgement. Read Less

I would not recommend Mile Square Animal Hospital unless if you are looking for a place to blow all your $$$$.Don't get me wrong, the inside is nice and clean but I wouldn't call them a hospital. If you want to bring your pet in and surround yourself in a cute little place for ambiance purposes then this "hospital" is for you. It's a great place for your dog to sniff other doggy butts and then have them call you for 5 minute conversation about your pet with the staff and doctor. 10 minutes if they decide to care a little more about your pet. I've brought my dog here several times, and never got one thing accomplished.Every time I make an appointment here they would ask me to come back next time to actually start procedure. I took my dog to Dr. Weitz and I told him that my dog has lumps in her breasts and was in heat. I was so scared that she had cancer from not getting spayed from her previous owners. I wanted action taken right away. Luckily, it was not cancerous but she was going through another false pregnancy and  she needed to be spayed. This hospital is really expensive and I didn't want to wait around for another appointment. Mile Square Animal Hospital has limited resources and I didn't know any better because I was a new dog owner and haven't been to other hospitals. Also, if you ask them to let you know what the estimated cost is because you're a poor college student (kinda like I was), they don't really tell you. After it's too late and you went to go see the doctor because it's an emergency,  they surprise you with a fat bill. They have awful hours and my schedule is very hectic. Every time I bring my dog in to start procedures, they tell me that I need to make another appointment. They don't explain why they cannot do it the same day, they just stick you with another bill by the end of the short visit. So, they first tell you to come on in, and then you see the doctor and answer some of his questions while  he is feeling around for anything abnormal with your baby. He makes predictions on what could be wrong with your pet, and then  tells you that the NEXT appointment you make is when they will run the tests and actually see what the problem is. I mean, really? I really have to wait until our next appointment when I'm already really concerned about what could be wrong with my pet? For being a new dog owner I was hoping to get answers from an experienced vet. Their office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30am-5pm and Saturday from 8am-12pm. Wednesdays and Sundays are closed.I was really unsatisfied here and found a much better animal hospital that acts on things right away and has fantastic business hours. Friendly Animal Hospital hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 7am-9pm. Mondays and Sundays are closed. They are way better equipped as well & OH YEAH they also give you a fair warning on what they are going to charge for the visit so you are aware. I would recommend to take your pets to "Friendly Animal Hospital". Staff is friendly and very helpful.  I got my dog spayed there and I didn't need to make another appointment to actually get the procedure done. They worked on her right away. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FRIENDLY ANIMAL HOSPITAL. They really are a friendly animal hospital! Read Less

I called to schedule an appointment for my puppy to have her stitches removed from getting spayed on Thursday and was able to get in at 9am on Friday, which worked perfectly with my very demanding schedule.  I made sure to explain to the representative on the phone that I had her spayed at a vet's office in Covina and due to the distance and my schedule I was unable to take her there to have them removed.  I asked how much it would cost and was told that it is usually a service that is free of charge, but since they had never seen my pup before, there may be a small fee but it would most likely be free.  I arrive ten minutes before my appointment and fill out the paper work.  One of the front desk associates comes over to me and explains that their vet won't remove stitches for 2 weeks, as opposed to the 10 days I was told by the vet's office that did the procedure.  She continued on saying that the vet would have to do an exam first, but only for $49, before deciding on whether or not to remove the stitches.  Wait...so first I was told over the phone that the vet would do it for free, but now that I'm there in person it's going to be at least $49 and the stitches may not even get taken out???  Needless to say, I walked out but not before telling them that this should have been explained to me while I was making my appointment the day before so that way I wouldn't have wasted my time.I will say that overall though that the facility seems clean and decent (I was only in there for 10 minutes).  I just think it is rude to waste someones time like they did mine, especially when it could have been avoided in the first place if the front desk employees did a more thorough job. We do not normally use this vet but becasue our vet only had one brand of the rabies shots (which we were told by our breeder and her vet not to use because it has a bad reputation of doing some bad things to puppies) we decided to get our puppies first rabies shot from this vet since they use another brand. So we called and made an appointment for the next morning and instead my husband was able to make it the same day before 5. So he called to ask if he could change our appointment and the lady who answered the phone was so rude! She told him he could come in if it was before 4:45, which was fine, but then proceeded to ask my husband why we werent getting the rabies shot from our normal vet. When he explained she basically kept asking questions in a rude tone with a lot of negative attitude about why we take our dog to a vet we have a problem with their products and why we would take our puppy to get fixed there etc. Basically making it seem like we were bad pet owners. She has never even met us!We have had NO PROBLEMS what so ever with our normal vet and have taken our dogs and cats to them for YEARS because we love our vet, who is the nicest man and really cares about our animals. But because they ran out of other brands and only had the one we were told not to use we decided to get the shot somewhere else this time because our puppy needed to get it before he gets fixed. Which was the same day he was to get the shot. Our vet normally has another brand as well but ran out. If I didnt NEED to take my puppy there to get his rabies shot I would have waited til our vet got more in stock but because he needed that shot before getting fixed we were in a time crunch. She was so rude and how dare she say such thing about us and a vet she doesnt even know. Our animals are our children and we give them nothing but the best and for her to be that rude to us because we were not a REGULAR customer of theirs was out of line. If she was hoping to win us over and gain a new patient it sure didnt happen and we will be happy to continue going to our normal vet! Read Less

Read Less
