Ace Animal Hospital is the finest veterinary clinic in my entire experience. I've taken my cat, Kiki, to a number of vets prior to finding Ace. When Ace opened its doors, I decided to try it. My cat's vet, Dr. Chahal, was extremely knowledgeable, caring and thoroughly professional. The staff at Ace are equally thorough, knowledgeable and caring. I ve been taking my pet to Ace from couple of months now ... But today my poor pet was ill and obviously I won’t have a prior appointment for sudden illness and obviously it’s going to be a walk-in ... I’ve walked in with my pet a couple of times without an appointment when he was ill but had no problems before .. and looks like the management has changed now and they want Cash this situation.. And because it’s a walk-in they want to charge me 78 bucks twice the regular office check in fee. What is the point of this .... This is place lucky I don’t sue them, I went on vacation for a week and thought this place would take good care of my little boy. (4 month old puppy) my girlfriend’s brother picked him up and said he’s been acting weird, urinating when he’s excited and him squatting when walking. Then I realize something is not right with him, he tries to pee on his pad and barely pees anything out. I’m no vet but I know he has uninary tract affection, breaks my heart seeing him in pain. I noticed his nails were trimmed then realize his back nail was cut way past his quik. I hope they realize they shouldn’t let high school volunteers interact with puppies. I should of asked for a tour of the place before deciding to leave him there and they never gave me the results of the fecal matter test to check for worms, honestly felt like it’s their way to stay in business. After our dog Montgomery had surgery to remove a few tumors, his stitches came undone because they were a little loose and because of our other dog licking them off. I expressed concern regarding the added cost of having to redo his stitches in addition to the cost of the surgery and they worked with me to make it more affordable. It was much appreciated. My 1st experience with them was less than stellar. After a few years I ended up going back to try it again. This time it was a life or death situation and they saved my dogs life. One of our cats has gone here for almost 8 years. I've brought my little munchkin for 3 years now and even though I keep saying I'll switch vets, I keep coming back. My boy is difficult to handle, but thankfully they don't mind putting up with his outbursts. Update 2 weeks later: they haven't responded to my 3 phone calls and to my email about getting his results and information sent to me for his insurance... really unprofessional. 7 weeks in, and still nothing but they keep EMAILING ME PROMOTIONS to bring in my cat....yeah right... I had to drop 800$ this past weekend for emergency surgery for my dog because I was out of town. I was told to follow up with my regular vet in 4 days to have a drain tube removed and the incision examined and cleaned. Not only did they examine my dog, they took out his drain, placed staples where the drain was, gave me more pain medication for my dog and the only thing I was charged for was the pain medication. This was such a relief after having to suddenly spend so my money to help my dog in his time of need. Very fair and honest people. I highly recommended them! Read Less

This is my first yelp review. I never write reviews but today I am because I am appalled at the their behavior. This is the place I always take my pet to. Dr. Chahahl is best but yesterday he was out of office. My dog's nail had overgrown and twisted over the other nail. After speaking to a nurse on phone, I took my dog for just nail clip and then the Dr. came outside at the front desk to let me know that his nails are now fine and he should have no pains. I asked the Dr. at the front dest on does he look okay to you and he just touches his knees and said all ok. No check in of the dog, no examination, nothing. All in all we were there for total of 10 mins and when the time came to pay, I was asked to pay for the clip fee as well as examination fee. I was always happy with them but I felt completely cheated and probably because this was a new Dr. who had started just 18 months back.Complete disappointment in how they are trying to make money. I have been going here for over 5 years with 3 of my dogs. Throughout the 5 years, the service and care has gone down. I used to be a very happy customer when I first started going to Ace, with their caring doctors, very convenient hours and affordable boarding prices. Since then I have been made to feel guilty for not buying expensive medication for my pets, even to the point of tears. I have spent thousands of dollars on my pets and treat them like my kids and am far from a person who does not love and care for their pets. I am extremely disappointed at some of the vets' uncaring bedside manner. One of my dogs is diabetic and I was made to feel like I wasn't giving him the right dosage even though I have kept track of the amounts and Ace was the one that did not update the labeling correctly on his Vetsulin. When I told them that it changed based on what another vet had told me, they wanted to re-test my pet to ensure what I was saying was correct. Why would I re-do all the tests for my pet because someone had forgotten to update the label? The last straw which is prompting me to find another vet happened this past weekend. I boarded two of my pets and when I asked for the price, they told me that it was based on weight. One dog cost $50/night and the other dog was $23/night. That was fine with me. They asked if I wanted my dogs to be close together, so I said sure. The first odd thing is that these prices are not on their website and you need to ask. They did not offer up the pricing freely when I inquired about boarding. The second thing is that they ended up charging me $50/night for BOTH dogs because they were boarded "close together". They did not inform me of this price increase at the time they asked me the question. They simply charged me this after the fact and let me know it was because my smaller dog took up a bigger crate. It didn't cross their mind to let me know of the price difference up front. The very last annoyance for me was when I came home and opened up the travel bag that contained my dogs' belongings. They failed to empty out the used syringes that I had asked for them to dispose of. Why would they pack up a bag of used syringes and send it home with me when I explicitly asked for disposal? I'm not sure of what is happening behind the scenes at this place. I feel like I'm being pumped for cash whenever I go here. For the most part, the front desk is friendly and helpful. With the vets, it seems like a crapshoot and inconsistent in terms of the service my dogs are receiving. This review is not a reflection of Dr. Aulakh or the other lady vet that has seen my dogs. Those two are caring, review prices with me, give me a choice of what I would like to administer to my pets and don't make me feel like a horrible person if I don't buy everything item that is recommended. Disorganized.  No internal communication. You have to call back several times to get an answer. They put you on hold forever.I really like the doctors.But what caused me to write this review is that they charged me twice $520. I called multiple times without resolving the issue. Service: Urgent care for blood in the urine. Urinalysis and C&S. Antibiotic prescription.     Wait time: approximately 15 minutesOutcome:  After the consultation, We were advised that lab results will be called and emailed to us the next day - Nada! I have to call the clinic at the end of the day to inquire about it. Pending C&S result, the Veterinarian had again told us that the clinic will call us as soon as the result came out. It has been more than a month, no calls nor email received. Luckily, my baby's condition improved after several dose of antibiotic.  Damage: $242.65. It could have been more if not for free initial consultation for first time customer. A bladder Xray was also recommended which I declined.    Viewpoint: No follow-up call from the Vet nor the office itself. Felt the clinic has no concern at all for our furbabies. Horrible, just HORRIBLE. Completely unorganized, there is no internal communication, they never call you back, they don't do what they say they will do, and the care is subpar. I had a pretty good experience here. I normally go to the vet in SF, but since I was in Fremont for the weekend and my dog needed an urgent bandage/splint change (he got his wet and muddy), I came here based on the proximity and the reviews. The best part about my visit was that the first vet exam is free! To get a bandage change at a new vet hospital requires a vet exam (this is common practice at every vet I've called). I thought the vet exam was unnecessary since I just saw a vet in SF and only needed a bandage change. Thankfully, Ace informed me that the first vet exam is free.The vet I saw was very kind and knowledgeable. He spent a lot of time answering all of the questions I had. This is a complete 180 from the SFSPCA vet hospital (my SF vet), since the vets at the SFSPCA are always rushing you out. The vet at Ace even requested all of my dog's medical records from my SF vet so he could make a proper analysis of my dog's conditions before he changed the bandage. There was a male worker at the front desk who was not so friendly, but all of the ladies were quite nice. I also noticed that the chairs in the exam room was freshly wiped down, which was great (this is not what you get at the SFSPCA). Splint change was $68. They also have a Yelp deal ($50 for $75 of services). Overall, I would come back to this vet the next time I'm in Fremont. Read Less

Everyone is courteous and professional. I got a dog over a year ago and have been taking him since I got him. They could get him in to be neutered the fastest of all vets I called. And, they offer laser surgery so the recovery time is lessened. I do find it helpful though to stay with one vet once you do start going; makes it easier for them as they get to know your pet thus easier for you since you establish a history with them. I like going to Ace, have referred them to friends and will continue going there. Another thing I admire about them is that they are open and in fact encourage feedback about your experiences with them which means they are interested in what you have to say so they can improve. Respectful: They called to confirm the appointment the day before. The doctor was running 20-30 minutes late the day of the appointment and they called to inform me. I had already left the house, but was so shocked they even took the time to call it didn't matter. It shows they take to time to care. Billing: It was lower then some and higher then most. I thought it was going to cost 200-300 dollars, and for the one procedure it was 385.00. The entire bill for a 4 pound dog for a laser spay, and 3 baby teeth removed was 465.50 out the door. I am still giving them 5 stars because even with the higher pricing it was worth it. Doctor: Not much to talk about it was a pretty standard procedure. Nice guy caring guy. Down to earth. No God complex. Office Team: Just nice down to earth people. They are caring, and kind. Suggestions: - Give general pricing for routine procedures over the phone. Have package pricing including everything out the door for general procedures. Also have package pricing on your web site. Just state pricing without complications. - Change your hours on everything from check out paper work to all web sites including FB and Yelp. Office: Very clean, and stay current on technology. We went to several veterinarians in Fremont and San Jose before meeting Dr.Parminder Aulakh at Ace Animal Hospital. He is one of the best vets and we always felt that he took care of our dogs like they are his own. I once had a question regarding my large dog which fell ill and he called me while he was on his vacation in Canada just to answer my questions and to give me instructions. My new go-to animal hospital in Fremont! We had gotten a price quote for a dental extraction from our previous vet, from a more well-known chain animal hospital. The quote was high, so I Yelped to find another vet for a second opinion. After all the great reviews, we had to give Ace a shot!The vet techs were nice and helpful, and were able to get us in the next day. Dr. Aulakh (the Mrs.) was really knowledgable about the procedure Luca would need, the medications he would need, and she carefully described the dental extraction process and really put us at ease. What really sealed the deal was that Ace gave us a price quote that was *HALF* of what we were previously told. They were able to take Luca in the next day for a dental surgery by Dr. Aulakh (the Mr.) and he was happy and healthy when we picked him up at the end of the day. They even scheduled a follow-up appointment a few days later just to ensure that he was doing well. Sure, this animal hospital doesn't have the over the top decor and extra amenities that other hospitals have. But the staff is knowledgable and honest-- which is what I find more important. I'm not really sure where all these positive reviews are coming from for Ace Animal Hospital. I'm not one to *ever* write reviews (whether I have complaints or praise) but I am so appalled I am compelled to do so. We came here to have my cats teeth looked over since it looked like there was some dental decay. The vet proceeded to tell us that our cat had a heart murmur, heart disease and would need bloodwork (to confirm the alleged heart problems), x-rays, possibly an ultrasound and pretty much all of his teeth extracted. This is after examining him for a few minutes. We questioned the exorbitant cost (verbal estimate from the Dr.) and the need for all of this. At that point the vet sent in a 'finance person' who was trying to sell us on every unecessary thing you can think of at a ridiculous cost. My cat had been in to this same vets office a few months prior and there was no mention of heart problems. The finance guy proceeds to badmouth the vet we saw last time and said "we'll he doesn't work here anymore" and "he was a bad vet" (untrue, maybe he left because he could no longer work at a shady business like this!) Looking at his estimate it looked like this was going to be well over 1k in the end with all of the tests to further prove that yes, my cat is old (15 years) and he is not in the best of health. The finance person was as seedy as a used-car salesman in scrubs. He tried to tell us that if we come back for the procedure when his boss isn't there he will give us a 20% discount (unethical). He then said we can finance the ridiculous cost at an attractive interest rate. Then he told us to lie about having some discount card when we pay up front. He then kept using vague sales pitches about putting it all in a 'package' to "help us out" and reduce our costs. It was very uncomfortable and we said we'd think about it, get a second opinion, etc. And we did just that...another reasonable and very ethical veterinarian off of Fremont Blvd spent twice as much time examining my cat and said there was NO heart murmur, NO need for bloodwork, xray, ultrasound and no need to extract all of my cats teeth, just a cleaning and maybe an extraction or two if necessary, they charge about $12-$65 per tooth extraction! Ace Animal Hospital had said most vets charge about $300 per tooth (lies) This other reputable vets office is taking care of my cats teeth for about $135.00. I hate you Ace Animal Hospital. ACE ANIMAL HOSPITAL IS AWESOME. Each time I have gone there with my dog, Mr. Teddy Bear, I have received very professional, loving care for him. I feel confident with each Dr. who has worked on my dog whether it was for neutering, annual checkups, shots or nail trimming by the technicians, And the people running the front desk are friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. I would give this hospital the highest recommendation. AND, they give Senior discounts and they send the paper work to my insurance company so I don't have to hassle with them. Great place!! My 4 yr old dog was sick and we were taking her somewhere else for 3 weeks. A friend referred us to Ace and when we got her there (mind you by this time we were force feeding her because she wouldn't eat) They saw her on a Sunday night and kept her for the night. They kept her for a couple of days and did an ultrasound and had her on an IV by the time we took her here she had lost 5lbs and after the ultrasound they found that she had an obstruction which needed surgery immediately. She was referred for surgery and the doctor gave her a 50 50 chance of survival. My baby had to be put to sleep after the surgery because she had eaten a shoe-lace that basically cut her small intestine so they removed as much as they could and sutured what was left, the doctor told us that it had probably been in there a couple months and with what was left of her intestine her quality of life would be poor and she would not be able to control her movements and it would be hard for her to gain weight. We put her to sleep so she wouldn't have to go thru that. I am devastated I loved her so much. Her sister will be going to Ace for all future care. Read Less

The vet who saw my cat last week does not even know how to give a cat a shot without overdosing. One of the shots he was given spill out some, so he gave a full dosage after on top of what manage to stay inside thus my cat was given more than what suppose to be given. My cat was out of it for a week, I thought he was going to die due to how unresponsive he was. He wouldn't drink and or eat hard food. Luckily he did eat his soft food in the morning, and was good enough to let me give him some water every 2-3 hours with a dropper. Didn't do that he would of gotten dehydrated. To note on that day to just get his shots they tried charging me for an exam even though repeatedly beforehand we ask and was made sure that we just wanted the shots and it be fine. On top of that they tried saying I owe them money from previous visit even though I paid fully with a debit card. That previous visit was about my cat's inner eyelid that didn't retract fully for a few days. The vet didn't know what the problem was, but sure had plenty of guesses and procedures wanted to try. Also wanted to send my cat to an eye specialist which be around $200-300 in tests alone. I waited a couple of days and put drops of water in his eyes a couple times and it went back to normal. Never coming back here, if they can't even give shots properly then can't trust them with other procedures. Plus they like to add as many charges as they can to your bill. I would not bring my beloved dogs to any other vet. Ace Animal hospital is just the best. I love every single doctor at Ace. My little cattle dog Joey had liver failure last year. The doctors at Ace helped me and supported me -- and continue to support me -- through this traumatizing ordeal. After many consults with an internal vet specialist -- two of them -- I came back to Ace so they could manage Joey's continual care. They have given me many invaluable recommendations for her diet, et cetera. Despite her diagnosis, because of the doctors at Ace, Joey continues to thrive. I also bring my male cattle dog to Ace. I even used to bring my Jack Russell Terriers, Lily and Duke, to Ace for years before they passed on. Every time I bring my dogs to Ace, I am greeted warmly as are my pets. It is a very nice and clean place with all the modern facilities -they had digital x rays and laser too. The Dr I do not remember his first name but last name is Chahal is very well spoken, very knowledgeable and had very good bedside manners. He told me so many things about my dogs that I even don't know and none of my previous vets had told me. This is the first time I saw someone do a thorough exam on my hyper dog, otherwise its just checking the heart and lungs. Dr Chahal looks very young but there is a lot of confidence and experience behind his words. The staff is so friendly and willing to help. I took my maine coone kitty here and the vet was puzzled about what breed she was. I kept saying the breed,but the vet acted like I was talking Martian. I think he didn't know much about cats. He obvioussly didn't have any cats. The exam was very limited and he was more concerned about doing unnecessary tests and treatments on my kitty. Later he misdiagnosed my cat as having cancer when all she had were allergies. Buyer beware...I recommend you try somewhere else with more experience and better communication skills. Thank god I didn't go ahead with the treatment or put my cat to sleep. The hospital is very small and stuffy and has a strong urine odor. They make you wait and wait forever. Read Less
