This is the Best place by far to bring your pet's to for any of their needs. The owner and operator, Chris, saved my dog Chachi life, literally. Chachi needed a very serious and expensive surgery, not to mention the fact that the only surgeons who could do that operation are only in town once a month. Long story short, when the surgeon was here the first time I didn't have the money, so Chris made me a deal, since I am unemployed and disabled,he would have the surgery done at cost so I wouldn't have to put my dog down. The following month I borrowed $1500 from my sister and paid Chris and the surgery was a success story. A $4000 surgery he helped me out and did it for $1500. I ask you, who does that today? Took a chicken there today with a swollen eye. The staff greeted us by name as soon as we walked in. Very friendly and very patient with explaining different things that I was unaware of. Price was very reasonable for all that was done to fix Peaches. I'll be happy to take any of my other animals there for treatment. From what we saw, Dr.Hill loves pretty much any critter! Read Less

There is not enough room to write the horrible experience I've had with this vet. If there were a zero star option i would choose that one. This vet is very condescending and treats you like your incompetent. Without going into too much detail she is very good at telling you what your doing wrong with your pet and not nearly as good at doing her job. When my puppy had a horrible bout with worms because she did not worm during any of the multiple visits I've brought her in for, it was a "miscommunication". In the four visits I've had with this vet I have not left without spending less than 60 dollars each time and my puppy's health still declined due to  mistakes on her part.   After my puppy was clearly sick with worms I took her to a different vet. 150 dollars later she is completely healthy. Funny how it takes one visit with a different vet and my puppy is in better health than she has ever been since I got her. I did get a partial refund on my puppy package but it wasn't nearly what I paid.  Do not go to this vet. You'll be broke and forced to spend more money with a different vet that actually know's what they are doing. Read Less

This is the only veterinary hospital that I know of (in Fresno) that treats guinea pigs. I go to another vet for my dogs, so I can't say how this hospital treats other animals, but for my one guinea pig who was bound in both eyes, these people were a miracle. The vet & vet assistants were able to restore her vision & get her feeling better, although sadly she still passed away rather quickly. I'm sure there was nothing the vet could've done more though. They are also really into teaching pet owners how to properly care for their pets, giving out lots of pamphlets & information, which as I wasn't properly caring for either of my two guinea pigs (which I found out when I went in) I thought it was extremely helpful. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place, definitely a good place for guinea pigs (and probably other pets too) =) Read Less

Very disappointing. Did not bother listening to us. Looked over the dog briefly - basically only taking her temperature. We brought her in to remove a cyst on her back leg. The Dr. barely looked at it and gave us an itemized bill for over $800 to remove it with local anesthetic. Barely even spoke to us. Like we were irrelevant. I have been taking my bunny here for over two years, and I would not choose to go anywhere else. It isn't just Dr. Hill who is awesome, but her entire team as well. Emily, Denise, and the older blonde lady (can't recall her name) are fantastic. My bunny is going to be 11 years old next year, which is quite an accomplishment for a little bunny, and there has been multiple occasions where we thought she wasn't going to make it. But Dr. Hill and her team never gave up and I truly believe that, had we not taken her there, my bunny wouldn't be here today. They always provide clear instructions on how to administer dosages, make follow up calls, and are just extremely caring and thorough in general. Spent over 200 on two mice for antibiotics.  Thought that was a bit pricy since most other places charge less than a 100. She also came off very snappy at first, though she apologize d later. But what really made me angry was that after one of the mice ended up dying, she says she wants to keep him and perform an autopsy for free and asks if that's alright. Um, okay, sure. Then after she finishes the autopsy, we get a voice mail about it and about what we plan on doing with the "remains". Call back, some receptionist answers the phone, she tells us the options: cremation  , picking her up, or having them "take care of it" (aka throw away). I tell them they can take care of it. She says it will cost 15$. Excuse me?! Sorry, had I known your "free autopsy" was a way to get extra money out of me, I would have told you no. Ridiculous. Picked him up about 5 days after he died and was welcomed with the pleasant smell of a rotting corpse on the drive home. Good way to remember my pet, thank you. Read Less

We are so happy with our experience at The animal hospital. Dr. Hill is extremely knowledgable and answered all of our questions about our sick chicken...yes you read that right...our chicken. We searched all over looking for a vet that would see a chicken, even contemplating a 2 hour (one way) drive for answers, finally coming across Dr. Hill's contact info on a backyard chicken blog. After a complete examination she gave us multiple options and scenarios. Ultimately advising us to go a route that would save us hundreds of dollars. If need be, we will be going back to Dr. Hill. Still highly recommend after 2 years of taking our ratties here--Doc and her crew are some of the best animal care experts I've ever encountered. These guys really know their stuff, and I learned so much from just one visit. We were relatively new to California in 2012, and after dealing with exotic vets and regular vets in NY and TN, the vast knowledge and obvious expertise this place has is a Fresno treasure. Since CA doesn't allow ferrets, and after wanting some pets again after waiting so long (we were just too transient and busy before moving here in August), I thought that we did a good job choosing two little ratties from a nearby pet store back in November. Despite all of the know-how I got online and all the previous experience I had growing up with dogs, cats, gerbils, birds, fish, and ferrets, just one 30 minute visit here made me realize the HUGE mistake I made in not going here sooner--my little rats have mites all over them! This was the last thing I expected out of the several factors I thought to be causing one to excessively itch his chin--I thought ringworm or some allergen must have been the culprit. But, no, they have mites, and Dr. Hill quickly got me up to speed with all of the problems she's seen with rats from pet stores. While I'm not sure whether or not they've always had mites, I do know that from now on, I'm taking my little critters to Dr. Hill so they keep healthy. Great place, and I highly recommend it. I never write reviews but for this occasion I went threw the rigormoreau of creating a Google profile so that I could write my first review. That being said... If I could have given 10 stars to the doctor I would in a heart beat. My little Chihuahua is my only child since I have no biological children of my own. I took her in with a large abscess. Turned out it was a rather large infection that had grown into most of her teeth and into her jaw bone. It resulted in several extractions and a long regimen of antibiotics. My small 3lb dog is fragile. any small misstep can potentially be life threatening. The doctor completed the surgery very quickly and with ease. I have lived in Fresno my whole life. One thing I know is that there a plethora of money hungry quack veterinarians in this town. This doctor is BEYOND KNOWLEDGEABLE, loving, organized, & 100% worth the out of pocket money. Remember back in the day when doctors where educated, caring, knowledgeable, idolized and trustworthy. This doctor is the last stitch left from the good old days. Read Less

We just recently lost our last cat  Sissy she took so much care to make sure she would not be in pain. Sissy had tumors that basically went around her neck in the end they were choking her to death we had no choice yet I know after caring for Sissy for over a year Dr Hill  did everything possible to keep my little girl with us. She sent us to Sacramento for a consultation about her cancer rarely seen in cats they had no research on cats with this type of cancer all research had been done for dogs. One thing I will say if she can't do the job she won't hesitate to let you know and give you all the help you need to seek even more help. I know in my heartshe did everything she could for Sissy. In fact we now have 2 more cats we rescued,I just have a lot of faith in her , knowledge and ability. Prices are very good for what she does, and often includes a lot of little free treatments for example clipping toe nails ..Office staff is very friendly the day we had to put Sissy down I had to leave I couldn't bare seeing her go like that so my husband stayed with her as I literally went to the car her nurse was right behind me to make sure I was ok. Each time we had to get med's for Sissy if we couldn't make it to the office they would send the RX to us. I was reffered to Dr. Hill by another vet who was out of town and when I took my bird to Dr. Hill the difference in care was night and day! The other vet in Visalia told me there was nothing she could do for my bird's dry scaly, cracked and bleeding leg. Dr. Hill immediately treated my bird's foot sent me home with foot cream and a better diet. I am forever grateful that the other vet was out of town and I met Dr. Hill. I never went back to Visalia and my bird's permanent vet is Dr. Hill. The ongoing care he has received has been amazing. Very often when I call I am able to speak to the Dr. herself at no extra charge and the staff always calls to follow up. My questions are usually answered in a day. I'm completely surprised there are not more reviews here. Dr. Hill is one of the most intelligent, hard-working, compassionate & funny veterinarians in the Fresno area. Her and the staff are constantly going above and beyond their basic duties to make sure all their clients have the best care. I'm not even sure where to begin as Dr. Hill has been seeing my American Eskimo, Lily, for years now. From dental work to skin tag removal to, most recently, a splenectomy and the difficult diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma (a very aggressive form of cancer), Dr. Hill and her staff have been with us through it all. I could not possibly ask for more; their love for animals is apparent in everything they do and everyone who works there does their job exceptionally well. We always get follow-up calls, any needed care instructions are printed on the receipts after an appointment, and appointments are coordinated so that, for example, dogs that don't like other dogs won't run into any while in the waiting room. Seriously, their attention to these little details is amazing and probably prevents many larger problems!From a practical perspective, you will not be disappointed at all with the care you receive here. Emotionally, you will get all the support you need. If Dr. Hill doesn't know about a supplement or something like that, she will research it for you. Every visit is thorough and you never feel like you're in an assembly line: all clients are given all the attention they require. Lily had been marked as a "bad dog" by the vet we saw before Dr. Hill, mostly because she is stubborn and VERY protective of me. But Dr. Hill worked with this rather than just putting a red mark on her chart. She realized Lily was a total sweetheart as long as I'm out of the room because then she wouldn't go into protection mode. If you want a vet who is knowledgeable, caring, and will do everything she can for your pet, then this is the place to go, hands-down. Never before have I had a vet that went above and beyond for a pet the way Dr. Hill does.  I have a bunny who is frequently sick and Dr. Hill took the time to find out exactly what was wrong with him instead of just giving me medication and sending me on my way.  You can see her dedication as she's the first to arrive and the last to leave.  She's there on the weekends and always available to talk to you.  Her support staff is really great as well.
