I had to go to the bathroom and it was in the middle of the night and my toilet wasn't working in my house. I didn't want to go to a gas station so I drove here. They were nice and let me use their restroom so I wanted to thank them with a 5 star review. Very clean office and very clean restrooms. I do not own a pet and am not a patient here. This review is just for their restroom and office and it's all clean. If you have to use the restroom in the middle of the night, I'd recommend coming here Read Less

This place just takes your money! The doctor who seen my bunny determined she was just going to die without examining her or anything. Sent me home with $400 dollars worth of medication that was useless. Took my bunny to a second opinion who ran test and gave me a diagnosis that the first doctor missed. If the first doctor, Chris Dobbins, did his job right and examined my bunny properly, she would've been okay. But it was caught too late because the first doctor missed it. I HIGHLY DON'T RECOMMEND GOING HERE. If i could give no stars, I would. Read Less

Everyone I encountered was friendly, thorough in explaining what they were going to do/doing, understanding and respectful. The Vet even came out and talked to me one on one to go over things while she was in the back. The price was a lot lower than I expected which was amazing too. This was absolutely the best service I could have asked for. My cat issues are even starting to go away and it hasn’t even been 24 hrs... Called to ask about if I should take my unresponsive dog in, the woman answering the phone accused me of giving my dog drugs and gave me very sarcastic answers while I was genuinely worried for my dog. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. This place is HORRIBLE!!! I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE!!! Before you take your pet here please call Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center  (559) 451-0800.I regret not going to them and I will never make the mistake of stepping foot in this place and putting my dog in their care. Please take these other negative review seriously THIS PLACE IS AS AWFUL AS EVERYONE SAYS!!! Here is a quick run down of my experience here:4th of July I took my 120lb English Lab in because we spent all day swimming and he didn't take a break and became dehydrated. He threw up and drank too much pool water and I was too worried to let him sit overnight til our vet opened. I came into the Pet ER and luckily there was no one there. After the lady checked me in and brought me to a room(mind you, they knew he was dehydrated and NEVER ONCE acknowledged him, got him water, NOTHING) and I asked her "were you the lady I spoke to over the phone that was saying something about tail damage with long term swimming? She doesn't even look me in the eye and just says "nope." nothing else. Here is when it gets bad. The Vet came in and was the RUDEST lady I have EVER met!!! My lab is a big sweetie and I was sitting in the chair and he was sitting next to me. Well she came to look at his teeth and he turned his head into my stomach. She YELLS "CONTROL YOUR AGGRESSIVE DOG OR WE CAN'T HELP HIM!". Excuse me?! Aggressive??? He did not bark, growl, snap NOTHING. All he did was nuzzle his face into my stomach because he's weird about his teeth. I told her that was uncalled for. So then she tries to take his temp and all he did was slide to a lay down position and put his head under the chair. No bucking, no growling, no barking LITERALLY NOTHING AGGRESSIVE. And she freaks out saying "I can't work with this dog and you need to learn to control your dog." I about lost it on her but I remembered why we were here and kept my mouth shut. So then she starts telling me since he threw up and had diarrhea (all signs of dehydration from swimming in the pool for 6 hours) that he could probably had liver failure, kidney cancer, and a list of other ailments that they will have to test for before they give any treatment. I said there is no way this is caused by any underlying conditions he is the healthiest 2 year old lab and he is DEHYDRATED. Then she lectured me after I said that that I will let my dog die from these if we don't test for it today. I said no I refuse the test. So she stormed out of the room, SLAMMED THE DOOR, and another lady came in with a clip board. SHE THREW THE CLIPBOARD ON THE TABLE AND SAID "SIGN THIS". I said no, I do not accept $989 in test when this isn't the issue!! I told them ALL he needs is fluids that's it. So then she turns around and comes in again saying "fine, don't help your dog. You are obviously a irresponsible pet parent since you let him swim all day". Oh okay lady. If i wasn't worried about him needing fluids I would have lost my shit. I said "I'm sorry you feel that way, here is the form back go type me a new one showing the charges I accept (which was pain meds because he over did it and was sore, and a fluid shot totallying all $250 not $989) She said fine that is if we can control your dog. I finally said, "excuse me, my dog has not snapped, growled, barked, bucked, NOTHING. He simply laid down and put his face in my stomach can someone other than you please administrate the fluids you make me feel uncomfortable." She said "Absolutely I wouldn't come near that aggressive dog." So another lady (much nicer) came in and took him back and they gave him fluids while I paid. So the lady I was already dealing with is the one that checked me out and she sits at her lowered desk and THROWS the pills on the counter at me to the point they almost rolled off if I didn't catch them. I told her that was rude and unnecessary. She says nothing and then THREW the papers at me to sign and says "It's sad how much you don't care about your dog for letting him swim that long and not do test that will save his life". LADY HE IS 2 YEARS OLD, HEALTHY AS CAN BE HE DOES NOT HAVE FUCKING CANCER HE WAS DEHYDRATED!!!!!!!!So I signed the papers and THREW them back on her desk. Finally they brought my dog and just handed me him didn't tell me how he did, how to administrate meds, or anything. All she said was "learn to be more responsible" Ohh man did I almost loose it again but all I wanted was to get him home and comfortable and some water since the entire time we were there for dehydration they never ONCE gave him any water. Long story short, don't go near these money hungry, RUDE people. I will never be back. Instead go to: Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center  (559) 451-0800.I went to them in the past and had nothing but positive experience when my cat was extremely sick. Read Less

We were given the privacy and compassion needed to carry out this unimaginable procedure. Alex took the time to explain the entire procedure. We had to bring our older dog in before Thanksgiving. From the moment you meet anyone in there they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable in the fact that they will do everything to treat your dog. They don't care if they are old, or a hard case. Over the 3 days she was in there we had great communication with the vets. You can call the nurses anytime day or night. You can walk in and visit your dog if they are staying and speak to the vet for a status report. They provide your dog a fluffy bed, not just a hard cage. They carry them outside to potty. You go home that night knowing they will love your animal as if it was theirs. This is the best place you can take your animal. I applaud every work in this facility, other vet offices should take notes from them. Read Less

So I guess I'm not surprised to see some negative reviews here, because going to the ER vet is always going to be ridiculously expensive and fraught with emotion. I had a bad experience with such a place where I used to live, and have known others who had even worse experiences. But happily, my experience with Fresno Pet Emergency was excellent. Yes, it cost me a fortune. But my pets are worth it to me. My usually active corgi was very subdued and didn't want to eat on a Sunday afternoon. She seemed so lethargic, I didn't think waiting for the regular vet in the morning would be a good idea. So I took her here since it's 5 minutes away, and hoped for the best.We quickly learned my dog had a very high fever, making me glad I hadn't waited. But since it wasn't clear what was causing the fever, she would need a lot of tests - blood work, x-rays, possibly a CAT scan. They showed me a list of the work, with costs, and explained why it was important to do these, what kind of things they were looking for. I left my dog with them for the evening and went home.Several hours later I chatted with Dr. Marsh, who was able to tell me they'd ruled out organ failure, cancer or injury, and had her fever under control. Dr. Marsh was very patient with me as I asked about things that could have caused the fever, she answered all my questions and it was obvious she had thought of these same things and knew what they looked like in sick animals. I was relieved and impressed. The next day I was able to bring my dog home with antibiotics and she recovered quickly, a great relief to me. I really feel the staff there took great care of her and treated both my dog and me with utter respect. Read Less

Fresno Pet ER just saved our Border Collie, BeBe. She accidentally ingested or absorbed some spilled cow Ivermectin through her pads. Within 12 hours she was blind and completely disoriented, unable to control her limbs and terrified. We weren't immediately aware that the Ivermectin was the cause, but Dr. Dobbins quickly assessed the cause and started her on a protocol to flush the wormer from her system and keep her calm and hydrated. It took four days for her to "wake up" and on the 5th we were able to take her home where she is happily spending time in Mike's lap in front of the fireplace. Day 7, she is almost normal. Dr. Dobbins and his very caring staff provided updates and access for our visits whatever time we could come by. This is our first time bringing an animal to Fresno Pet ER. We felt completely confident in the team and the treatment and would highly recommend their care. Special note: : IVERMECTIN CAN BE TOXIC TO HERDING DOGS.Read Less

The folks at Pet ER were so very compassionate this past Halloween night when we had to bring my very loved cat, Spot, in late that night. She was in serious distress and although I hoped and prayed that she would be ok, that was not the case and we had to say goodbye to her soon after we got her there. I was too distraught to remember anyone's name (although I am certain they told me who they were), but the doctor and the other two staff members were very kind and once Spot passed, we were given as much time as we needed to be with her, and they worked with me to arrange for her private cremation and the return of her remains to me once they are delivered back to the Pet ER facility. Not happy about that AT ALL. If you're pet has a life threatening condition, this is where you want to go. I've been here for something as simple as a bee sting and something as serious as heart failure and the staff is amazing every single time. Its a great location and a very clean facility. We were sure we were going to lose our 13 year old with heart failure but the vets at Fresno Pet ER put her in an oxygen chamber and injected her with diuretics and other medications that pretty much brought her back to life. They gave me instructions and medication that kept her living comfortably for two more years. My previous vet told me that he wouldn't have been able to do what they did. And when our new puppy got a bee sting right on the center line of his nose (he was swelling and had mucous coming out of his nose at record breaking speed), they immediately found the stinger and removed it. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't so expensive. Read Less

My dog came down with kennel cough. They gave me antibiotics. 2 weeks later and my sweet Bassett is worse. Took her back. Gave me more of the same antibiotics. Started acting strange, like confused all the time and began crying and having trouble breathing. Took her back. Thru x-rays, said it was slight arthritis. Gave me pain pills. Last night, took her back because she could hardly breath and was loudly whimpering/crying. They gave her a pain shot. Soon after, while we were still there, she could not use her back legs. Two options they gave me... Transport her to up north to a neurologist or take her home. We can't afford that so we took her home. Dr. was very rude and stated that we were uncaring. I am not exaggerating. They had no explanation as to why, after the pain shot, she could not use or feel her back legs. We used a towel and carried her to the car. I can't stress enough how uncaring they were. After a horrible night of not being able to breath and moaning, took her to our vet. He checked her thoroughly and told us that she had a severe spinal issue and would just get worse. We did the right thing and decided to take away all her pain. I'm not blaming anyone. But the callous actions/words of the Vet while we were in a crisis, will stick in my head forever. Read Less

We ended up putting my dog to sleep and since I wanted to be in the room while they did it, they made sure I understood what could happen and made it comfortable for both me and my dog. Our family was treated with the utmost kindness and respect when we had to bring our sweet kitty of 15 years in to have her put to "sleep". They were so understanding, giving us the time we needed to say "good bye". We were able to stay with her, cry and finally let her go. And then just 3 days after our heartbreaking loss we received the most beautiful card with our dear kitties paw prints and deepest condolences from the staff. What an amazing business. So yes, our family gives them a 5 star ++++ 's infinity rating. And encourage others to visit there establishment. Your pet as well as your family will be treated wonderfully.Read Less

I feel this business is completely money hungry, profit based, no compassion or caring about the animals, just concerned about how much cash they get from each one.I took my dog in and first off they did not speak to or comfort my dog at all, no acknowledging my dog. Then I paid $250.00 for 'exam, blood work, etc'.  Sadly decided my dog had to be put to sleep, then first thing girl said is ' I need $49.00 ". I asked isn't that included in the $250.00 I just paid, was told no but then she did lower the price to $32.00 to put dog to sleep.  No compassion, no caring, just give me the cash, cash and more cash. The bad thing is when its after hours and the dog is suffering you are desperate so have no choice and they know this.I pray that Fresno gets a compassionate caring veternarian who opens a fair (yes they have to receive profit but they need to be fair) Emergency Vet service soon. Read Less

I can't thank Pet ER and especially Alex enough. My little 8lb Shih Tzu ate a sago Palm seed and got really sick just 1 week before our wedding date.... With 2 nights on IVs and special care from this team, Bailey got to come home to us. Tonight she is running circles around the house and back to herself! Alex was amazing... Was so positive, caring, and assured me that my dog would be in good hands. He made me feel so much better about leaving her overnight! They let me call as many times as I wanted and come see her whenever! Now my finance and I get to enjoy our wedding week with our baby! We are so thankful for this wonderful team! Read Less

They flat out lied to me and had i known 3yrs ago they do not do surgical procedures I would have sued them!! I took my pet rabbit there after a dog attack (had a hole in his side but was eating in the 50 minute drive) and within minutes of arriving they took him back and I was immediately told he "died before they could shave him for surgery" Paid an arm & a leg for cremation which was callously handled for upon calling on the status of his remains was informed they kept his body 4 nights to be burned with other pets!!! Not happy about that AT ALL. Fast forward 3yrs when another of my buns needed emergency care, suspected broken hips and or back (baby I'd hand fed) and when I called they asked "well what do you want us to do? We only do pain management and antibiotics, we don't operate on animals here." Uhhh excuse me?! How can you be called a PET ER?!?! They need to change their name or better yet, they need to be shut down!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, EVER! Read Less

Great and friendly staff. $506 for a guy to tell me absolutely nothing though. Don't get me wrong, I'd do anything for my fur-babies but it just seems like highway robbery. Honestly, $506.56... And we got antibiotics for a few days and that's it. And we were recommended to go to our regular vet to "Get more blood work done and see if it working" so ... You don't know? He could only tell me that for sure she didn't have Feline leukemia. Or HIV.We went with it because, well, we're at their mercy? Our cat had a fever of 105 and we wanted to do anything to help her. Day 2 of antibiotics and she seems okay. We're going in to see our regular vet soon. Watch your pet folks! Looks for signs! Save yourself some money!! And go to your regular vet! Catch it early and take them in! Don't wait last minute and take them here. Read Less

We had to take our very ill cat in on a Saturday. No other vet would take her. So sad, would all these other vets want her to die? My husband remembered the advertisement for the pet hospital. We took her in. They took her in and to the back to find out what was wrong right away. The vet came out and told us what was wrong with her and explained how to give her the medications. A week later our fur baby is back to her normal self. I thank the staff for saving her life. Read Less

After trying go to multiple places on a Sunday early morning they were the only ones available, and I'm REALLY glad they were. They have excellent customer service, super clean facility, nice and relaxing atmosphere, very modern technology and new building. Very fast and friendly service. The veterinarian Kelly was super sweet and explained everything thoroughly. They give you a printout with a summary of your visit explaining everything that was done during the visit along with a list of costs of each procedure done at the end of your visit. I highly recommend this place. My dog is very happy and so am I! 5 stars! Read Less

Read Less

Clean facility, professional staff, and overall the best experience we could have asked for, despite the grim circumstances. Dr. Dobbins was the only veterinarian who was available to see our snake on such short notice, and driving from Visalia we had very few options. We were seen promptly, and the staff and Dr. Dobbins were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The snake ended up passing during the visit (it was already in critical condition..), but they really did treat us well during this stressful time. If I lived closer, this would definitely be my go-to for other critical pets.

Read Less

Took my dog in because she was in pain and was very sick. We didn't wait long at all to see the doctor and everyone there was very nice. We ended up putting my dog to sleep and since I wanted to be in the room while they did it, they made sure I understood what could happen and made it comfortable for both me and my dog. They also sent a card to my house with signatures from the staff saying that they were sorry about my loss which I thought was very thoughtful. Read Less
