We brought are dog in to get his wound treated from a dog fight he got into. They said he needed a surgery are two depending on how the first surgery played out. They told us that it was gonna cost around $900-$1200 bucks. We told them that we could give them a $500 dollar payment upfront and told them we can pay the rest later that same day after we go and barrow some money from some family members. They said they wouldn't touch my dog until we came up with at least $1000 down payment. We asked if they can work with us but they refused. Some of the staff came off rude and didn't seem to care about my dog because we didn't have all the money up front. I wouldn't recommend anybody goes to this animal clinic. We ended up going to Abby pet Hospital and they were alot more professional. They worked with us and started treating my dog before they even knew if had the money or not. So I recommend you go to Arby's instead were they really care about your animals .

Great experience. This was my first time at this vet office. I recently adopted a tortoise and he developed a runny nose. Having never owned a reptile before, I searched the Internet and Dr. Stocks was listed as a reptile vet and was recommended by the California Turtle and Tortoise Club. The receptionists were great, the vet tech was amazing and Dr. Stocks was the best. I say all this but what was so unbelievable were the diversity of pets in the waiting room. I saw an orange and white lizard, a cat, a dog and a box turtle. Just a very fun day after being extremely worried about my tortoise and whether I caused him to develop a sickness (they assured me that I didn't). I left with a bag of items to treat my tortoise and very thorough guidance on what needed to be done. I highly recommend this vet office.

On September 7, 2016 I called San Joaquin animal hospital as soon as they opened to hopefully make my hamster an appointment for that afternoon. The receptionist informed me that they were full for the day, but she shuffled things to get me in. I truly appreciated this. During my visit with the vet she was very gentle with me. She made it clear that my hamster wasn't going to make it very much longer in a very professional and compassionate way. Despite this she presented me with alternatives to euthanasia and explained to me the pros and cons of trying to save her. After a few very emotional minutes we decided that the best thing for my little girl was to let her go. The vet in no way pushed me to make a decision either way. She gave me the facts and offered her support no matter which route I chose to go. While my visit to this vets office was far from pleasant, my pet and I were treated with a great deal of compassion and respect. From the vet down to the women at the front desk everyone I encountered seemed to genuinely care about the situation I was in and offered me their condolences. This is the only vet I will bring my pets to from now on.

To them, it was all about my baby not about my money. The next day they called me to follow up to see how she was doing. She was struggling. He sent him home with 2 meds and said to call back if he doesn't get better. He got a lot worse! We took him to another dr and he saw with his eyes that he has a spinal cord injury. Not happy that this dr didn't see what another dr saw within 5 minutes.

Looked her over and discussed what needed to be done... Gave us an estimate ($900-$1100) We agreed to that and signed the papers to have her surgery started (they were positive they had to remove her eye)... We explained that payment would be in full the following morning as that was the soonest we could get the funds together... (They would have her hospitalized till Monday which was 4 full days). They then came back to the room and informed us that they couldn't start any treatment on her without a deposit... We asked how much we would need to put down as a deposit and was told $798.... That is not a deposit... That is practically the entire bill... We left and had to find another vet that would wait till the next morning for payment... I feel like this vet office was more concerned about making money than actually trying to help a severely injured pup in obvious need of emergency care... She has since been seen... The vet saved her eye and she is home and recovering very nicely... I will NEVER take another of my animals to this veterinary office... I need a dr that puts the care of the animal above the cost of the bill...

Love this place, really cares and educates pet parents and their pets. Extremely affordable, I have been to other facilities CVH & Abbey, but I have to say the rates of SJVH are far below what these others are and the care that my animals and my family receives are far more superior. With ageing animals having to see the vet more often that my younger ones it has its costs, but SJVH is extremely affordable. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility.

0n 9/16/2014 my mother took her rabbit to the San Joaquin Veterinary Clinic to have its nails trimmed. When the person was finished trimming the nails the rabbit could no longer move and had been seriously injured. My mother was told that the rabbit may have hurt its back and that she should give it some pain medicine which she was charged 27.00 not to mention the price of trimming the nails for 17.54. She ask if the rabbit had been dropped or if it fell and she was told no. We are not sure what happened since my mother was not in the room with the rabbit at the time it was having its nails trimmed. She should have never been charged for anything since the rabbit was injured by the person in the clinic. This morning the rabbit was not able to move and had to be put down. Please read the reviews on other sites because there are several other unhappy people who also lost their pets to the San Joaquin Veterinary Clinic. To me, they were very unprofessional in the way they handled this situation.

During a trip to Yosemite, our mini-Dachshund hurt his back. Doxies are very susceptible to back injuries. We were far from home and far from our regular vet. I called SJVH and was told to come in right away by Stephanie. Although they were booked solid, she understood the seriousness of the problem and would work us in. We came right in and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Dr. Stocks saw our dog, and I wish he could be our regular vet. He is wonderful! He is knowledgeable and he explained everything to me. He is a "hands-on" vet who did a thorough physical exam of our dog. Because of his expertise in physical evaluation, he was able to make the diagnosis. He did not need to take expensive x-rays or other tests, and said they could be inconclusive. The care plan was conservative, simple, effective and was at the level of the normal "standard of care." Our dog improved immediately, and will be back to his regular routine after about two weeks of rest. I walked away from SJVH greatly relieved and very thankful we were able to find Dr. Stocks in our time of need while we were on vacation. The office staff and vet techs could not have been nicer or more helpful.

Dr. Stocks at San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital is the best veterinarian in Fresno in my opinion. He was able to diagnose my dog with diabetes by looking at her and smelling her breath. Of course, he had to confirm this with blood and urine tests, but I still think it is incredible. His years of experience have made him a highly intelligent dog whisperer. He always pets and cuddles my dogs. He gives them kisses and talks to them like they are my children (which they are, by the way.) Most dogs hate the vet, but in this case, my dogs love Dr. Stocks.The staff is equally fantastic. Joanie, Jessica, Alex, and Sisco have all been there since I first discovered San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital about 10 years ago. I have been taking all of my pets to Dr. Stocks faithfully for the past 10 years, and I do not have a single complaint. In fact, I refer everyone I know to his office. He sees all of my pets with the same care and concern. He treats exotic pets, as well. He gave my frog and tortoise just as much attention as my dog and cat, and he didn't look at me like I was crazy for having a pet frog. The prices at San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital are very affordable. They even give you tips and tricks to save money on pet care, as well. For instance, they told me where to get flea drops cheaper and then they gave me a syringe and dosed them out for all of my pets for free. They also offer credit for new patient referrals.My dogs are my children and I trust Dr. Stocks with their lives.

We brought are dog in to get his wound treated from a dog fight he got into. They said he needed a surgery are two depending on how the first surgery played out. They told us that it was gonna cost around $900-$1200 bucks. We told them that we could give them a $500 dollar payment upfront and told them we can pay the rest later that same day after we go and barrow some money from some family members. They said they wouldn't touch my dog until we came up with at least $1000 down payment. We asked if they can work with us but they refused. Some of the staff came off rude and didn't seem to care about my dog because we didn't have all the money up front. I wouldn't recommend anybody goes to this animal clinic. We ended up going to Abby pet Hospital and they were alot more professional. They worked with us and started treating my dog before they even knew if had the money or not. So I recommend you go to Arby's instead were they really care about your animals .

Great experience. This was my first time at this vet office. I recently adopted a tortoise and he developed a runny nose. Having never owned a reptile before, I searched the Internet and Dr. Stocks was listed as a reptile vet and was recommended by the California Turtle and Tortoise Club. The receptionists were great, the vet tech was amazing and Dr. Stocks was the best. I say all this but what was so unbelievable were the diversity of pets in the waiting room. I saw an orange and white lizard, a cat, a dog and a box turtle. Just a very fun day after being extremely worried about my tortoise and whether I caused him to develop a sickness (they assured me that I didn't). I left with a bag of items to treat my tortoise and very thorough guidance on what needed to be done. I highly recommend this vet office.

On September 7, 2016 I called San Joaquin animal hospital as soon as they opened to hopefully make my hamster an appointment for that afternoon. The receptionist informed me that they were full for the day, but she shuffled things to get me in. I truly appreciated this. During my visit with the vet she was very gentle with me. She made it clear that my hamster wasn't going to make it very much longer in a very professional and compassionate way. Despite this she presented me with alternatives to euthanasia and explained to me the pros and cons of trying to save her. After a few very emotional minutes we decided that the best thing for my little girl was to let her go. The vet in no way pushed me to make a decision either way. She gave me the facts and offered her support no matter which route I chose to go. While my visit to this vets office was far from pleasant, my pet and I were treated with a great deal of compassion and respect. From the vet down to the women at the front desk everyone I encountered seemed to genuinely care about the situation I was in and offered me their condolences. This is the only vet I will bring my pets to from now on.

I have been out of work for the past month (I now have a new job. YAY!) so it meant that my finances were extremely limited. They did everything they could and worked with my budget. To them, it was all about my baby not about my money. The next day they called me to follow up to see how she was doing. She was struggling. I took my dog in yesterday. He's not moving and we think he got hit by a cow or car or something. The dr did xrays but didn't find anything. He sent him home with 2 meds and said to call back if he doesn't get better. He got a lot worse! We took him to another dr and he saw with his eyes that he has a spinal cord injury. Not happy that this dr didn't see what another dr saw within 5 minutes.

Took my pup in after being attacked by a mastiff... Massive bleeding and she had one eye protruding from her eye socket... They started out friendly and seemed eager to help... Looked her over and discussed what needed to be done... Gave us an estimate ($900-$1100) We agreed to that and signed the papers to have her surgery started (they were positive they had to remove her eye)... We explained that payment would be in full the following morning as that was the soonest we could get the funds together... (They would have her hospitalized till Monday which was 4 full days). They then came back to the room and informed us that they couldn't start any treatment on her without a deposit... We asked how much we would need to put down as a deposit and was told $798.... That is not a deposit... That is practically the entire bill... We left and had to find another vet that would wait till the next morning for payment... I feel like this vet office was more concerned about making money than actually trying to help a severely injured pup in obvious need of emergency care... She has since been seen... The vet saved her eye and she is home and recovering very nicely... I will NEVER take another of my animals to this veterinary office... I need a dr that puts the care of the animal above the cost of the bill...

Love this place, really cares and educates pet parents and their pets. Extremely affordable, I have been to other facilities CVH & Abbey, but I have to say the rates of SJVH are far below what these others are and the care that my animals and my family receives are far more superior. With ageing animals having to see the vet more often that my younger ones it has its costs, but SJVH is extremely affordable. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility.

0n 9/16/2014 my mother took her rabbit to the San Joaquin Veterinary Clinic to have its nails trimmed. When the person was finished trimming the nails the rabbit could no longer move and had been seriously injured. My mother was told that the rabbit may have hurt its back and that she should give it some pain medicine which she was charged 27.00 not to mention the price of trimming the nails for 17.54. She ask if the rabbit had been dropped or if it fell and she was told no. We are not sure what happened since my mother was not in the room with the rabbit at the time it was having its nails trimmed. She should have never been charged for anything since the rabbit was injured by the person in the clinic. This morning the rabbit was not able to move and had to be put down. Please read the reviews on other sites because there are several other unhappy people who also lost their pets to the San Joaquin Veterinary Clinic. To me, they were very unprofessional in the way they handled this situation.

During a trip to Yosemite, our mini-Dachshund hurt his back. Doxies are very susceptible to back injuries. We were far from home and far from our regular vet. I called SJVH and was told to come in right away by Stephanie. Although they were booked solid, she understood the seriousness of the problem and would work us in. We came right in and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Dr. Stocks saw our dog, and I wish he could be our regular vet. He is wonderful! He is knowledgeable and he explained everything to me. He is a "hands-on" vet who did a thorough physical exam of our dog. Because of his expertise in physical evaluation, he was able to make the diagnosis. He did not need to take expensive x-rays or other tests, and said they could be inconclusive. The care plan was conservative, simple, effective and was at the level of the normal "standard of care." Our dog improved immediately, and will be back to his regular routine after about two weeks of rest. I walked away from SJVH greatly relieved and very thankful we were able to find Dr. Stocks in our time of need while we were on vacation. The office staff and vet techs could not have been nicer or more helpful.

He sees all of my pets with the same care and concern. He treats exotic pets, as well. He gave my frog and tortoise just as much attention as my dog and cat, and he didn't look at me like I was crazy for having a pet frog. The prices at San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital are very affordable. They even give you tips and tricks to save money on pet care, as well. For instance, they told me where to get flea drops cheaper and then they gave me a syringe and dosed them out for all of my pets for free. They also offer credit for new patient referrals.My dogs are my children and I trust Dr. Stocks with their lives.
