I recently took my two , newly adopted, stray kittens to Woodward, to be neutered & spayed, the main reason being the amazingly low cost of $10, each., for both male & female. I was immediately impressed when I walked thru the door & was greeted by a lovely boxer / mix ambassador of the Hospital. The staff was busy, as this place does a very high volume of spay & neuter, due to the low cost. It did my heart proud to see so many responsible individuals taking care of their pets, some as myself & my neighbor, are rescuing feral / stray mama's & a resent litter of babies. I adopted 2 myself & living on a fixed income, this place was a god sent. That being said , upon returning to pick up my little ones, this place was packed, hardly standing room only, & besides many who were there for the same reason as myself, others were there for various reasons. In this mix was several elderly couples, one in particular , when handed back their beloved little dog, the (lady) unknown title, hugged & kissed the dog on the head, called the couple by name & stated that there would be no charge for that visit. Now I myself surmised this was an on going relationship / the lady gave instructions & in observing this interchange, it was just like a human/doctor relationship as a pet/doctor one. I was very pleased by what I observed & heard during my wait. I am truly sorry for the negative encounter the individual , who , on limited funds was trying to get the assistance they needed in helping an animal not really their own, & having worked with the public for many years, this type of business, must have compassion & kindness no matter what circumstances arise. I hope this individual will try & realize the rudeness could have been due to a very stressful situation. I am sure this job can be very hard. However , price wise, I've found when it comes to vaccinations as well as medicines, vets can be high, a lot of times to compensate for the low cost of other services. The solution to this is do your homework, look for clinics that have low cost vaccination days... Many pet stores offer this service & this is all that is done, a vet is there & people bring their pets in & get it taken care of... Medicines can be done the same way. The internet is amazing & if you aren't internet smart, go to the library, they are happy to help you in anyway they can... you will have answers, you can take care of your pet properly, affordably, & as worry free as possible... In expressing my individual thoughts & my observations, as a first time visit & my encounter, I hope this long, worded out review helps someone..... Blessed Be. & always spay & nurture your pets...SherryRead Less
