I brought my dog here one night and the front office/intake was very organized and helpful and I was able to be seen and speak to a doctor twice within a couple hours. People complain about the price but that's mostly what you would expect when you go to an after-hours vet clinic - kind of like if a person goes to urgent care. I already left my review on Yelp but Facebook wants it too. We brought our 2 year old dog into this "lovely" establishment after she had suffered vomiting after a non-invasive surgery on her paw. The doctor wanted to keep her overnight and give her IV and antibiotics to reduce her fever which was 104. They did so, and continued to monitor her temperature for nearly 24 hours. Each time we'd call, we'd get 103, 105, 104, 105... never any progress. We'd suggest that perhaps she was in pain from her surgery and they'd refuse to administer pain medication (well after the vomiting had ended). We kept getting "we're icing her fluids". Clearly this wasn't doing anything, so why they'd not venture into other possibilities is beyond me. We decided we wanted to get a second opinion (perhaps a competent one with attentive doctors). When we came to pick her up, our dog was soaked in her own pee, and the incision on her foot was soaked as well. On top of that, when we'd dropped her off I told them she'd had surgery THAT DAY and shouldn't be on hard surfaces. Each time I saw my dog, she was made to walk as best she could. No assistance was offered to her whatsoever. We got our dog from this Emergency Clinic and took her to Long Beach Animal Emergency. The staff could not understand why our dog received the treatment she did, and why she wasn't given things that could have helped her. They began to administer what they believed would help.... a few hours later her fever was consistently managed. The culprit? Pain. Which Orange County Emergency Clinic REFUSED to help her with. Thanks for letting my dog suffer for the last 24 hours... perhaps if we would have taken her elsewhere to begin with our ideas would have been taken into consideration and she'd already be home. Not wasting my time with you ever again. You've been great in the past but this is beyond forgivable. I advise others to look further if it will be a long term stay.Read Less

We brought our jack/chi mix @9pm after a coyote attack. He has an extemely thick coat. They took him from our hands and walked him to the back. Then we were told to pay 500 upfront before they did more then make him comfortable. Before they even knew what happened. All we saw was a dog in shock and his arm bleeding. We were taken to the consult room and told what happened. The vet made it sound like no big deal we will keep him over night and stitch him up, maybe a drain or 2. No major damage aside from torn muscles. That the puncture wounds said it was a coyote. My husband said "were already in 500 and hes fine might as well pay the rest" The rest came to $1,600 dollars. I picked up my dog the next day. To my horror, after he was shaved he looked like he was torn to shreads and sewed together. I took him home. He was still in shock and suffering. I was ready to take him to be put down he was suffering so bad. I called my vet and he said to give him way more pain medication and come see him the next day. My dog snapped out of the shock and just laid in pain. This dog does not stop. He is high energy. For him to lay in one spot is bad. It happened on the 23rd. Hes still in pain but acting more himself. If i had known the extent of his injuries i would have put him down. The vet down played it. He suffered....hes better a bit now but still in pain. I wish we were told the gravity of his injuries so he didnt have to suffer. Read Less

This place is terrible, it is a rip off.We Took our puppy in for a dog bite at 8 pm. They take our puppy away and tell us next to nothing. After about 2 1/2 hours they say she will be O.K., but she needs the wound cleaned and some shots, it will be another 45 minutes and.they recommend that they keep her over night, we declined. $300.00 later we got our puppy back with a plastic cone on her head. They would not answer any of our care questions-said ask your vet when you follow up. We took her the following morning to our vet who said everything was fine and we could loose the cone (which she hated). This place will load the bill up by playing off your emotions. If there is any other place you can go-you should go there, this place is mostly interested in draining your wallet-your pet is only the means to do it. Read Less

WARNING: Dog got a foxtail burr stuck into her gums and kids took dog to this Sunday Emergency vet. When I got there they need authorization to administer a sedative and intravenous catheter. The total cost including the "extraction" and initial examination, etc would be $206. I asked to see the dog. The receptionist brought her into a room. I looked in the dogs mouth, saw the foxtail burr and pulled it out with my fingers. Done. Problem solved. They told me to wait in the room so the vet could see me. After 15 min's the receptionist came back in and said the vet would not need to see me. I paid the $60 "Initial Examination" fee and left. Was it a complete scam? Was it incompetence? Or did the burr loosen up in the gums on its own maybe? I don't know. I do know that I will never go back there. The attending veterinarian was Jack Beshal DVM. For whatever it's worth, I am a 38 year local law enforcement officer, and not just a habitual crank complainer. A word to the wise. Read Less

Our little Yorkie was with us one morning while we ran errands. I had gone into the drs office while my husband stayed in the car with our little Maxine. She was only 3 1/2 years old and seemingly healthy. She was in his arms, panting when she looked up at him, whimpered three times and passed away! Sudden and without any warning what so ever that anything was wrong. To say the loss was devastating is to severely understate the event. We contacted OC Emergency Pet Clinic to handle the cremation of our little baby. We were met with compassion, understanding and empathy. There are just no words in any language to express the depth of our loss. We expect her cremains tomorrow. But today, we received a card, signed by all staff with our little Maxine's paw print. We are so grateful for everyone at OC Emergency Pet Clinic. Thank you for walking with us and for the memorial paw print that we will treasure. J+C Hartsock Read Less

I would like to say this place is nice clean and efficient. The front office staff was super nice and sympathetic to us however we met with Dr. Marina Yamate was very condescending when we were trying to ask her questions about our ill German Shepherd. When I asked if the mass they spotted was cancerous her response to me was "I DON'T HAVE MICROSCOPIC EYEBALLS." I was taken back, I didn't expect a Dr to talk to us that way especially when we are crying our eyes out after hearing such horrible news. She continuously cut us off when we would ask questions and when I asked if I could know the size of the mass she got all frustrated huffed and puffed like we were bothering her. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my dog there nor making a life changing decision at that point so I took her home and first thing in the morning went to my regular vet Yorba Regional Animal Hospital where unfortunately we ended up losing our baby girl. My advice is for this clinic is to have Dr. Marina Yamate learn to have some bedside manner towards us pet owners and don't make people feel like we were negligent pet owners. Explain what your diagnosis is. Don't leave everyone upset and confused because you do not know how to explain yourself. Yorba Regional is by far the best animal hospital the staff goes above and beyond at such a traumatic time in your life. It's worth the drive to Anaheim Hills. Don't waste your time and money at this place. They charge you for every little thing and when they realize they can't play off your emotions and rip you off anymore they treat you worse. You have no idea how your pet is being treated being back there and that in itself is scary. They really need to do their homework and look into this Doctor that is on their staff.Read Less

The receptionist was horrible. Not welcoming at all. Her name tag said she was a Vet Tech, but I didn't get the vibe she even liked animals. The doctor was very nice and helpful. However, use caution when deciding what treatment to give your pet. This doctor recommended blood tests, urine tests, xrays, steroids and pain meds for my puppy's bladder infection...all for the low low price of $400. I've had a few bladder infections in my day and have never received this kind of treatment --- we'll just take the antibiotics please! On our follow up visit to our trusted Vet, we were reassured all of these additional tests and treatments weren't necessary for a dog her age. Lesson learned - it's fine for emergency care..but beware...they are greedy and will try to get you to pay for ridiculous and unnecessary procedures. I wouldn't have been surprised if they told me they needed to neuter her...even though she's a girl...and has no balls.Read Less

Had our 13 year old Lab there this weekend (late Friday night and again Saturday) and was very happy with the service and staff. They took us right in and immediately helped carry our 60 lb boy. The estimate of charges helped us determine how we wanted to proceed and quite frankly we thought for emergency care that the price was high but could have been worse. When his condition didn't improve the next day, I called and they told me to bring him back and the re-exam would be no charge. They recommended he stay overnight and get IV med treatment. Gave us a low and high estimate of what it would cost (hard for them to know for sure what he might need). We ended up leaving him overnight and was told to call whenever to check on him (we did 3 times and they were very kind, detailed and patient with responses and our questions). Luckily he responded to the treatment and we took him home the next day. Our charges stayed at the low estimate they gave us so I really feel they are in it for the health/well being of the animal, not the $. When we left they gave us copies of all x-rays and blood work without my asking. I'd absolutely take our pets there again and recommend to others. Read Less

Read Less
