I would have given this facility five stars if it wasn't for the horrible veterinarian, Dr. Dayle Tamura. Β Unfortunately, she is the only veterinarian on staff. She has very poor beside manners: doesn't introduce herself, doesn't smile, was condescending, and judgmental. I came in on a Saturday morning after seeing my poor rabbit not eat for a day and a half. I took her to the emergency room the previous night before going to a follow-up appointment at Brookhaven the next morning. She basically looked at the ER veterinarian's notes and said "I'm a different kind of vet, I believe that rabbits can self medicate themselves by eating natural foods instead of all of this medication." She wrote me a list of items to give to my rabbit: 3-way Oat hay, fresh grass (?), pineapple, and papaya. She asked me what kinds of foods I feed my rabbit and she started to lecture me on how I am restricting my rabbit's diet and that I should give her more variety to choose from. She made it sound like I am the reason why my rabbit turned out sick! I actually follow correct varieties and proportions of timothy hay, fresh vegetables, and pellets for my rabbit. I have learned a lot about proper rabbit care from a non-profit called Bunny Bunch. I always follow their recommendations to ensure that my rabbit stays healthy and happy. This doctor made me feel so horrible, it made me wonder if she was like this with other pet owners. Looking at all the other yelp reviews, I can see that I am not the only who feels this way about her. Looks like she provides horrible customer services to other pet owners as well. Dr. Tamura basically looked at my rabbit, said she felt some "lump" under her rib cage but wasn't sure what it was, and just gave her a treatment of subq fluids. Then she just told me to just come back for another subq fluid treatment in a couple days if she doesn't get better. That's it, no other medications or advice on how to help my rabbit. Her approach to treat my rabbit was so odd, I decided to go to another veterinarian for a third opinion. The final veterinarian I went to actually specialized in exotic animals and she said Dr. Tamura's approach was all wrong. I needed to give my rabbit medications to help her gas, motility, and provide critical care formula to help her GI system start working again. She felt around for a "lump" and said there was no "lump" anywhere on her body. Unlike Dr. Tamura, this veterinarian was so kind, patient, and helpful. She provided my rabbit with some pain meds, told me to continue the medications I was given at the ER as well as the critical care formula. She even provided me with handouts on rabbit care. Of course her medication approach worked and now my rabbit is feeling so much better and is finally eating and pooping again. If I followed Dr. Tamura's "holistic" approach, my rabbit could possibly have died over the weekend. I do not think Dr. Tamura knows how to properly treat rabbit patients. I feel like Dr. Tamura has a very cold personality, is tired of her job, and is just going through her day to get the paycheck. She is not approachable and I do not feel like she even cared about saving my rabbit. On a light note, when my rabbit was just a baby, I took her into Brookhaven hospital to get her spayed and the other staff members were absolutely wonderful! The cost to spay my rabbit was only $80 (other exotic pet hospitals charged $500 for that surgery). They did a fantastic job and my rabbit recovered within a day! Sandy, the vet tech, was the one who saw my rabbit and she was so caring and helpful! Back then, I was a beginner rabbit owner and she took the time educating me on how to properly care for my rabbit. She was even cuddling with my bunny while educating me. She has great bedside manners, warm personality, and I could easily tell that she loved helping animals. She was actually the one who told me about the non-profit organization, Bunny Bunch, and recommended me to go there. After her advice, I have been visiting Bunny Bunch one a month now to buy rabbit food, toys, treats, and to get any rabbit questions answered. Sandy's two sons who work at Brookhaven are also very nice. They have great customer service and just like Sandy, they love helping all the sick animals. Β Besides Dr. Tamura, I really love the staff members at Brookhaven pet hospital. My advice for rabbit owners: Brookhaven is an awesome, affordable place to get your rabbit spayed or neutered. However, if your rabbit is sick, I recommend going to an exotic veterinarian. Since exotic veterinarians actually specialize in treating exotic pets, they know exactly what to do and will provide the best care for your rabbit. Read Less
