Love the current vet, who will be leaving in a few minths. Not a fan of the front office. Chaotic, unfriendly and additionally, a child has been added to the mix. Apparently her child care is to "hang out" with her mom until school starts. This child, perhaps 9 or 10 years of age, apparently has full run of the office and very obtrusive. One family was having a discussion about choosing a very expensive proceedure to extend their pets life vs. euthanasia, and this child was jumping up and down in the doorway, "mom, mom?" I have spoken to 2 others that have had recent visits and both had experienced similar incidents. I prefer a vet with a more professional office.

My dog has gotten an abscess from eating too many fox tail weeds. They ended up lodging themselves into the roof of his mouth and causing an infection that made his breath stink and he wasn't really eating. The doctor lanced and drained the wound and it up. Prescribed him some meds and he's as good as new. Thanks doctor. Great work with my 🐶.

Horrible place! They are SO unorgaized, which is scary, since they are dealing with your pet's life. Nobody communicates with eachother properly or with the customers. They were even discussing their poor communication while I was standing there waiting...for an HOUR! I even had an appointment for a simple allergy shot. Anyone there could have given it to my dog, but they couldn't figure out how..then lost his chart, then had to weigh him again, then had to decide how much to give him again, then charged me DOUBLE what I was quoted over the phone for it! When I finally expressed my frustration. The lady at the desk was not only snotty and pretentious, like I had the problem, but down right rude, saying, "We never would have told you it was that price and you can feel free to go somewhere else." Good luck finding it cheaper." I will NEVER step foot back in that place again. It is a joke.

I think everyone on the divide probably goes there..You might have to wait awhile sometimes but that's because they take time to listen and explain things. The other Dr's there are also great ..When i moved down to sac.for a few years I still drove all the way to see her...CANT SAY ENOUGH. .

We have been taking our pets here for over 10 years. Dr. Irene is fantastic, and we just recently met Dr. Maggie, who is also wonderful. Dr. Maggie performed surgery on one of our cats, and we really appreciated the time she took to discuss the details with us before and after the surgery. She was very sweet to our kitty, obviously a true animal lover, which we appreciate in a vet. It's wonderful having a first class vet available right here on the Georgetown Divide.

This place is great! We live up here, but had been going to another vet for some time. One of our young dogs had a tumor that need to be removed immediately, so we called Black Oak Mine Animal Hospital hoping we could get something within the week. We got an appointment that day, and even though they had had an emergency and were obviously swamped and trying to play catch-up, Doc Irene looked our pup over and was able to remove the tumor that evening with little wait time. And it didn't cost our first born! After years with another vet, we will definitely consider going to Doc Irene's first in the future.

I have been using Black Oak Animal Hospital (Doc Irene's to the locals) since 1992. They have a substantial history of doing what in the best intrest of their community and your pets, and frankly, us as pet owners. As a teenager, I found a mangled kitten and took it there and used my earnings from my part time job to pay off the vet bills. As an adult I returned to the Divide with my family. They've helped us not only maintain the health of our pets thru good times; but also helped us greive at times when the outlook and outcome were not so great. In 2007, I took my beloved Dally in and met Dr. Alexis for the first time. She helped me keep her healthy enough to keep her around for 9 more months before she succumbed to cancer. Then most recently, after a brutal poisoning attack on 2 dogs (1 yr old and 2.5 years) and our 9 year old cat, their enitre faculity helped, myself and my 4 children through one of the most difficult times in life. While no one should have to deal with such a loss, their staff was compassionate, paitent and cried genuine tears with us as we had no choice but to put them all to rest within 1 week of each other. Dr. Irene, Dr. Alexis and Dr. Grimm, Vet Assistants Helene and Claudia, and their staff, are a genuine asset to this community. They will not over charge you, they will, if need be, provide refferals to some area faculities that provide the higher tech care that, at this faculity, they don't have room for, but are also willing to go "old school" if the alternatives for Loomis Basin (the closest 24 ER clinic) are not an option. They care about the entire well being of your pets, and your pets' family, not just the bottom line in their pocket book. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area and out of the area.

black oak animal hospital, its' staff, and dr. irene are amazing. the clinic is high tech, and country attitude: clients are encouraged to be present during procedures and comfort their pets while they are receiving pre-surgical care. my sister and i came here for a mast cell cancer surgery, and drove all the way from berkeley. the 2.25 hour drive was SO WORTH IT!!!we received top notch care from a vet specialist with dozens of years of experience, who answered all of our questions patiently, offered conservative alternatives, gave us low cost options, and did the same exact procedure surgery for $341 instead of the $4000 we were quoted in berkeley at berkeley dog and cat hospital.kudos to dr. irene and her amazing staff.we will drive here 2.25 hours each way from now on, for all our bigger care, not only because it is more affordable- but because we trust dr. irene to not do unnecessary procedures and to provide quality care for our two loved dogs.the surrounding area of georgetown is amazing for hiking and nature walks too, so the entire trip can be a family outing.

I have had pets for over 25 years and have used many veterinary hospitals in that time throughout the state of California. I rank Black Oak Animal Hospital near the top of the list. Your animals receive A+ care here from this talented team of animal lovers/healers. They are always conscious of the fact their clients are mostly on budgets and always discuss costs and alternatives with you. They've been with me through the introduction of new pets/puppies and the loss of old friends (miss you, Reno!), and we have always received the highest level of sensitivity and care. Dr. Irene, Dr. Alexis and Dr. Grimm are all wonderful to deal with.

Love the current vet, who will be leaving in a few minths. Not a fan of the front office. Chaotic, unfriendly and additionally, a child has been added to the mix. The most caring and compassionate Doctor and staff. Recently had to have our 17 year old cat put down, and this office was fantastic. I totally recommend them and will go back without any hesitation. Thank you Dr. Irene and staff....you are all lovely people.

This place is great! We live up here, but had been going to another vet for some time. One of our young dogs had a tumor that need to be removed immediately, so we called Black Oak Mine Animal Hospital hoping we could get something within the week. We got an appointment that day, and even though they had had an emergency and were obviously swamped and trying to play catch-up, Doc Irene looked our pup over and was able to remove the tumor that evening with little wait time. And it didn't cost our first born! After years with another vet, we will definitely consider going to Doc Irene's first in the future.

I have been using Black Oak Animal Hospital (Doc Irene's to the locals) since 1992. They have a substantial history of doing what in the best intrest of their community and your pets, and frankly, us as pet owners. As a teenager, I found a mangled kitten and took it there and used my earnings from my part time job to pay off the vet bills. As an adult I returned to the Divide with my family. They've helped us not only maintain the health of our pets thru good times; but also helped us greive at times when the outlook and outcome were not so great. In 2007, I took my beloved Dally in and met Dr. Alexis for the first time. She helped me keep her healthy enough to keep her around for 9 more months before she succumbed to cancer. Then most recently, after a brutal poisoning attack on 2 dogs (1 yr old and 2.5 years) and our 9 year old cat, their enitre faculity helped, myself and my 4 children through one of the most difficult times in life. While no one should have to deal with such a loss, their staff was compassionate, paitent and cried genuine tears with us as we had no choice but to put them all to rest within 1 week of each other. Dr. Irene, Dr. Alexis and Dr. Grimm, Vet Assistants Helene and Claudia, and their staff, are a genuine asset to this community. They will not over charge you, they will, if need be, provide refferals to some area faculities that provide the higher tech care that, at this faculity, they don't have room for, but are also willing to go "old school" if the alternatives for Loomis Basin (the closest 24 ER clinic) are not an option. They care about the entire well being of your pets, and your pets' family, not just the bottom line in their pocket book. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area and out of the area.

black oak animal hospital, its' staff, and dr. irene are amazing. the clinic is high tech, and country attitude: clients are encouraged to be present during procedures and comfort their pets while they are receiving pre-surgical care. my sister and i came here for a mast cell cancer surgery, and drove all the way from berkeley. the 2.25 hour drive was SO WORTH IT!!!we received top notch care from a vet specialist with dozens of years of experience, who answered all of our questions patiently, offered conservative alternatives, gave us low cost options, and did the same exact procedure surgery for $341 instead of the $4000 we were quoted in berkeley at berkeley dog and cat hospital.kudos to dr. irene and her amazing staff.we will drive here 2.25 hours each way from now on, for all our bigger care, not only because it is more affordable- but because we trust dr. irene to not do unnecessary procedures and to provide quality care for our two loved dogs.the surrounding area of georgetown is amazing for hiking and nature walks too, so the entire trip can be a family outing.

I have had pets for over 25 years and have used many veterinary hospitals in that time throughout the state of California. I rank Black Oak Animal Hospital near the top of the list. Your animals receive A+ care here from this talented team of animal lovers/healers. They are always conscious of the fact their clients are mostly on budgets and always discuss costs and alternatives with you. They've been with me through the introduction of new pets/puppies and the loss of old friends (miss you, Reno!), and we have always received the highest level of sensitivity and care. Dr. Irene, Dr. Alexis and Dr. Grimm are all wonderful to deal with.
