Tri-County Veterinary Hospital

Gilroy, California
General Info
We are a full-service horse and livestock hospital located at the historic Gilroy Ranch on Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy, California.
The practice owner, Dr. William Seals, has been serving the large animal veterinary needs of this area since 1979. We have assembled a staff at Tri-County Veterinary Hospital that provides optimal veterinary care for your animals while keeping that comfortable country vet feel. In addition to progressive equine therapies, we are one of the few veterinary facilities that care for exotic (camels, alpacas, llamas) and food animals (pigs, sheep, goats, cattle).
We offer both in-house and ambulatory care, serving Santa Clara County, San Benito County, and parts of Monterey County.
Our veterinarians are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to handle emergencies either at your ranch or in the hospital. Please call our main office line (408) 848-8886 and you will be connected to the on-call doctor.

Don't know where to begin with my review except I would never use this office or Dr Seals again.  First off he misdiagnosed my horse as well as my friend's horse.  He ended up putting my friend's horse down because the horse was beyond help from lack of early medical treatment for which he misdiagnosed.  Very unprofessional and said things in front of other people not professional and lacking empathy.  Because he always wants follow up appointments, your bills gets high real quick.  I finally had enough and switched vets, best thing I ever did.  After moving from the area and seeking vets in my new home, I realized what a terrible office/vet Tri-County clinic is. I have used Dr. Seals personally with my mare for about 2 years now and have worked closely with Dr. Seals and Tri County Vet for 4 years since I worked at a ranch that they came out to. I have never had any issues with them. Dr. Seals is always helpful, courteous and takes the time to answer the millions of questions I've ever had especially when I bought my horse (first time buyer). Cathy (I believe their office manager) is my life saver. She is always easy to reach and willing to answer all my questions. The entire staff at Tri County is wonderful, keep up the good work guys! I can't say enough good things about them but I will definitely always use Tri County Vet!!!! Read Less

This review is specifically for the magician vet, Dr. Ann Wimmer. My horse got cut up badly on trail, large chunks were missing from his body, nobody thought he could be stitched up. Dr. Wimmer did what seemed impossible. She performed a 'light' surgery in the middle of the night in freezing temperatures and stormy winds. She is also GREAT with horses (she has owned over 70 in her lifetime since teenage). My boy cooperated with her astonishingly well. She bandaged him, cleaned him and he was looking great. She followed up via texts each day for the following few days, and made herself available over the phone 24/7 in case I had any questions. I was just so impressed. I then made the mistake of letting another vet change his dressing. The next day the dressing was a mess. Dr. Wimmer answered my distress call and fixed everything, again! We found her by luck, and we are keeping her! Read Less

Stay away from Tri-County as they do not care about you or your animals, they only care about the money.I was given 2 horses as a present. The horses have been under the Tri-County care for the past 4 years with the previous owner who lived in Morgan Hill. I had to relocate the horses to Cupertino as I live in San Jose. As soon as we moved them to a new pasture they broke out in a bad case of hives. I called Tri-County and had the vet's visit scheduled. It was very hard to have them come out given the short notice and distance they had to travel. The visit ended up costing me over $300 with a $100 just for the vet to come to the stable.I realized that this is not the last emergency that's going to happen and that I need a local vet who does not need a week's notice to come out.I have then explained the situation and asked Tri-County for the medical history records on the horses so I can show it to the new vet. Once they realized that it's the last they are going to see of my money I was told that it is going to cost me a $1  per page to have the documents either copied and mailed or faxed to me. I was also advised that I am getting off cheap and that other vets charge more. This is very upsetting. I am pretty sure that there were thousands of dollars spent on those horses at the clinic, is it really necessary to be that cheap and charge for the records? I was pretty upset but agreed since there is nothing I can do about it. I asked them to bill me, and this is when it has gotten even nastier. I was told that if I want my records I have to pay now - over the phone with a visa card, in other words, they do not believe I will pay once I get the records. Well, thank you very much for ruining my day. Also thank you for confirming my decision to seek a different vet clinic. I want my horses to be treated by a human vet and not by a business. Read Less
