All cat lives matter!I brought my stray cat, our neighborhood's stray cat, here a week ago. It was a pleasant surprise that my kitty-cat was equally important as the other animals that had an owner - not all vets take stray animals. First-come, first-served applied to strays as well. In order to perform the exam the cat needed to be sedated (he was not happy that I tricked him into that trap), and Dr. Jimerson called me a an hour later to confirm that it was indeed an eye injury, possibly due to a cat fight, and not an internal infection. While at the hospital Dr. Jimerson discussed with me what needed to be done and I was given the choice to decide the treatment - like choosing the shots instead of eye drops cause there was no way this cat wold let me treat his eye with some eye drops for 2 weeks. There were no surprises when it came to charges - exam, sedation (necessary), steroid shot and antibiotic shot (my own choice), overnight stay (I was there around the time they were closing and didn't wanna come early next morning). I called couple other places before I decided which one to go to and they either charged more and even double just for the exam, some had blood work as standard procedure (it was required), other vets had other requirements. Comparing what others quoted me, the cost at Gateway Animal Hospital turned out to be less than I would be paying at those other places. Now this is my experience and applies to my stray kitty that is not insured. I new it would cost and if I wanted to save that money I would've never bothered to bring the cat in the first place, but I would've also have to live with "worst case" consequences. Now, a week later, the eye looks brand new! If looks could kill - literally. The stare and hissing that cat gives me now - PRICELESS and damn worth it!/Sir Meows-a-Lot Read Less
