Dr. Quan is very caring. She patiently addresses our concerns in a timely manner. This practice has taken good care of our guinea pigs. Due to occasional scheduling conflicts, we have 2 vets. Staff were very helpful and sincere. I came here after trying a couple other vets, and regretted that I did not try this one first. My kitten was very little, and other vets did not do anything for him (or didn't know what to do) so the visit was quite useless, however, he finally got some treatment here and became well. Dr. Quan has seen two of my birds. She has always been very nice and gentle with them. She seems to have an extensive knowledge on how to treat avians so I'm comfortable taking my birds to see her. I had to last-minute board my cat for an apartment fumigation and was struggling to find a place to bring my cat the morning of.I had called every animal hospital and boarding facility in Hollywood and none of them would board cats, or board them without proof of all vaccinations (Which I didn't have time to look for that morning, I wasn't sure which vaccinations he had up-to-date and they wouldn't accept him even if I would get them done for his stay) Anyway, Enter Glendale Small Animal Hospital! When answering the phone, I was greeted by a super-friendly staff member who completely understood my concern and issue - and was mainly focused on finding a comfortable place for me to board my cat while I was at work for the day! They admitted Robert (my cat) seamlessly in just a minute or two, without tons of paperwork to complete - They even said they'd verify with my other veterinarian which vaccinations he had/didn't have, and update him on those that were required to board while I was at work.I can't tell you how much of a livesaver it was for me, and I would hands-down recommend them to ANYONE in need of a caring vet, easy and affordable boarding, and rational staff that understand people get busy! I drove for 1.5 hours in heavy traffic from Santa Monica to Glendale because my local banfield vet (petsmart hospital west Olympic dr Vallard Forsythe) misdiagnosed my puppy and then told me she needed X-rays and lots of tests. I was immediately suspicious n wanted a second opinion! When I met dr Hussain at Glendale small hospital, he told me that my puppy is fine.  His was kind n gentle to my dog. In fact did a thorough examination. I dont mind driving to this practice every couple of months even for my puppy's shots. Agree with other reviews which they mostly say they felt they were ripped off! I felt ripped off too. Whatever that comes out of your mouth as a question or an observation the doctor writes in the chart and later on you get charged for it... if you talk about an eye drop for example she writes it and charges you $39 for it up front so make sure to highlight that you are just asking a question and aren't requesting the particular drop or whatever. I adopted my kitten Pumpkin from Jamie Mancuso who takes her foster kittens here for their vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries. They're just off the freeway and there is street parking. If you time it just right there is definitely plenty of seating. The staff in the front are very friendly and helpful. They always got Pumpkin in for her vaccinations right away. Dr. Hong is a great veterinarian. She helped me out when Pumpkin injured her back paws and she helped us with pricing. Dr. Hong also performed Pumpkin's spay surgery as well. My bf and I recently brought our older cat, Mia here to get her vaccinations as well. It was very quick and all three shots were around $50 total :) Thank you GSAH for everything! Read Less

I am in love with this place. We had taken our cat to another hospital prior to our visit here and we were treated so poorly. As soon as we walked into this hospital, we were greeted by the nicest woman behind the desk. I wish I remembered her name, but she truly made our day. She was understanding and empathetic toward our concerns and just overall made our experience positive. If I could leave them 0 stars I would. We normally go to Dr Tang on pacific ave for our dog Charlie. Our dog got injured and couldn't put any weight on his back law what's so ever. We waited a week and it didn't get better at all. So I called Dr Tang and he didn't have anything available right away not wanting to wait I tried this place. First the doctor took Charlie out of the patient room to check him out. We thought that was odd but ok. Then she came back telling us he had an ear infection and needs medicine, ok. And now for his paw, he had a torn acl according to the doctor and needed operation right away. She continues by saying the doctor that does this surgery is not in so we need to come back and have him look at him to make sure he can even fix him at this point. According to her it would cost $2500 and she definitely recommends it. My husband and I thought it was just a little pushy so we said ok let's make an appointment to come back but in the mean time I called our regular dr tang again and we were able to see him prior to setting surgery date. Our doc took one look at Charlie checked him out right in front of us and said he was fine. His acl was not torn at all. He just had a pulled muscle. We got pain meds and were told it would take a month or so for him to heal and sure enough he is back to normal a month later. Please stay away from this place! They are willing to put perfectly healthy animals under the knife just to make a buck. I'm very disgusted by our experience. Read Less

Dr Hussein is the one of the most compassionate vets I have met. His clinic is staffed with good, knowledgable and kind people as well. Every time I brought in my dog, I was treated with the most kindness. Dr Hussein takes the time to explain things to you and will even go " out of his way " to help you in any way he can. He does a thorough exam on your animal and always follows up with you the next day if the need arises. He helped me with filling out forms when I was traveling out of the country and is definitely thorough. Excellent experience as always. From making an appointment to the actual exam and overall visit, everything was great. I have tried a few clinics in the last but have stuck by this one for good reasons. Staff are always very nice and professional. From scheduling an appointment to taking care of my dog's needs, I have always been happy with their services. Also, the facility is very clean and well-kept. The veterinarians are always honest with fees and what my dog needs to have done vs. can live without. This is very respectable, as I don't feel like they are taking advantage and running an I genuine business. I have been taking my cats to Dr. Hussein at GSAH for about 8 years now and would recommend him as a skilled veterinarian without reservation.  His approach to veterinary medicine is somewhat conservative, which I appreciate.  He is cautious and thoughtful, never recommending expensive or invasive tests or treatment unless absolutely necessary. He has an uncannily natural way with animals that I've never encountered in a veterinarian before.  My cats are strangely calm in his presence, even if they're getting a thermometer put up their butt!  And the few times they have started to squirm or panic, Dr. Hussein handled it with calm expertise.  I also have to rave about the GSAH staff (especially Adele!).  They are so friendly, accommodating and, like Dr. Hussein, really care about animals.  Even though they see many animals every day, they still always manage to make me feel that my cats are special and unique.  In general, I love going there since the office is such a comfortable, friendly place to bring my animals.  When my cat, Bello, of 13 years, was in his final months and days of life, after being treated by Dr. Hussein in many of his "golden years", Dr. Hussein and the GSAH staff went above and beyond what I'd ever expect in their showing of support and sympathy.  This meant so much to me, since I knew they truly understood how much I cared about Bello and what a great loss it was to me.  Finally, I should mention that I've never had to wait long to see a vet there or to make an appointment and the prices at GSAH are super reasonable.  Often, I've gotten freebie samples of products as well--cat food or flea treatment, for example.  I highly recommend Dr. Hussein and GSAH in general. The folks at Glendale SAH have always put the interest of the animal first. I have always taken my dogs there. My current dog Mambo was very sick. I've been coming here for over 20 years now. About 9 years ago, I had to put my beloved cat to sleep. I have been using the Glendale Small Animal hospital for years, and I am extremely happy with their services. Dr. Hussein is a fantastic doctor, knowledgeable, skilled ,compassionate, courteous, and very prompt at answering questions and giving tests results. The staff is also great, in particular Adele, who is helping me every time with such a graciousness and expertise that it is a pleasure just interacting with her, and also the groomer, Craig, is very good and does a great job. Lois, the manager, is very helpful, and Zac, in the reception area, is also great. They have state of the art facilities and medications, and I would not go anywhere else even if they paid me. to do so. I wholeheartedly recommend this hospital to all the pet lovers in LA. It's too bad there isn't a "minus" review - I'd give this place a "less than zero".Read the other one-star reviews.  They're all descriptive of my experience.  It's always great when you bring a healthy pet to a vet and they "care" for it - but my Maltese had an enlarged heart.  This was clearly shown on an xray.  Dr. Hussein insisted on a "cardiac consult" ($650) in addition to the $503 they wanted for the initial consult and testing.  The comment was "we can't really know what to do without the consult"...well, I suggest you find work in the waste removal industry if you don't know how to do your job.The second vet I asked indicated that given the information I had been provided, there were two possible outcomes, and one was easily investigated.  If the treatment for the easy investigation proved favorable, great:  treatable problem.  If not, it was time to end the little guy's suffering.   Which, unfortunately, is what I was forced to do.  To be clear, the fact that my dog was ill is not the fault of the GSAH staff or doctors.  As a responsible pet owner, we all have to face the fact that the pet is going to pre-decease us (unless it's a tortoise that lives 150 years).  This means that at some point we may be required to provide a means to end the suffering of our pet.The point here is this:  I went to GSAH to find out what to do in relation to a life-threatening condition, and their response was an egregious failure provide answers or to act.  As a result, my little buddy was forced to suffer another week of torment, when all I wanted to do was make the right decision for him.I wouldn't take an animal here under any circumstance.  The policy seems to be "see what kind of testing the emotionally distraught pet owner can be sold, so we can get the most money out of them".  All I wanted was a real answer, apparently these are not available here.Stand well clear. Either incompetent or a scam. I first brought my newly rescued dog here three months ago. They kept wanting to bring her in for tests for her issues. I spent well over $1k here for a still unwell dog. Finally I tried another vet who asked two questions, said she had an allergy problem, prescribed prednisone and now she is happy as can be. If I had gone to that vet first I only would have been out $93.Also really weird about this place is you finish your vet visit then they make you wait 20-30min in waiting room to pay. I have been taking my cats here for about 10 yrs. I take them yearly for their exams and shots and more often if needed. Recently, one of my cats was sick, so I called and was able to schedule a same day appt very easily.Most of the front staff is fairly indifferent, but Adela is fantastic! She is so friendly and caring and always remembers my cats.  We have seen 2 veterinarians - Dr. Quan, who is really nice and approachable, and Dr Hussain, who is my cats' vet. Great Animal Hospital. I spoke to them on the phone, they made an appointment for me in literally half an hour on the same day. I brought my new adopted cat, from the shelter, and they graciously honored the 3 day window after adoption to have her examined for free. Bringing the cat there, they were very polite and Dr. Hussain examined her very gently and professionally. He prescribed an antibiotic for her head cold and she is getting better now. I will bring her there for the spay procedure because I was so well treated and the cat was very well taken care of.
