This is a complete overhaul of my first review. When we first came here, the front office staff was a bit aloof. The technicians were cold towards my dog and as a result she developed a fear of their office. (She had always enjoyed our previous vet office). We mentioned that my dog needs lots of positive praise recently, and they must have written this in her file. Every visit since then they have given her extra scratches and spoken so sweet to her. The change is very welcomed because we were on the verge of switching offices. We saw Dr. Swayze for the first time on our most recent visit and will be asking for him at each appointment. He is wonderfully patient and explains things thoroughly. Appointments are easy to make. Unfortunately, they try to charge extra for way too many miniscule things. Overall, I've found that so long as I voice my concerns repeatedly and respectfully -- staff ensures our visits are up to my (high) standards.Previous review:So I'll try to be as neutral as possible here. I have a two and a half year old dog who used to love going to the vet (believe that or not). We had to move here in January and sought out a new veterinarian for her care and came across this office. Visited them and they seemed clean and competent. They certainly are that. However, the cons come in after that. The vet techs need to work on being more personable with the animals. Dogs read on your emotions, and if you stand there like a cold statue, they get more frightened. They never talk to my dog or give her scratches or cookies or any positive praise during her visit. Just wham bam, thank you..well you get it. Not only that, they have some ridiculous ..we'll call it a rule..that owners can't go back with their pets during basic procedures. She may have been mishandled because she won't step a paw through the doors, I literally have to drag her in. And up to the counter. And the doctor have to drag her back to the procedure room. I demanded to be in the room with her after awhile. They weren't too happy, but they accomodated me.I will still go there, but if I find a vet that my dog isn't fearful of, I'd rather go there. We recently visited our old vet office and with about fifteen minutes of coaching and cuddles from the vet and techs, she was happy and back to her old self despite being in a vets office. So please Hanford Vet Hosp, step up your Game and be more caring and gentle with the animals you have in your charge. Otherwise, you will lose clients. Read Less
