I just want to begin by saying that my to fur-babies are more than just pets to me, they are my babies and I love them with all my heart and soul. I have been coming to Dr. Budde for the last year, I live in Fremont and there are other vets much closer to me, but her professionalism and the attention she gives my babies is like no other. My baby was diagnosed with a cancerous mass, Doctor Budde took care of my baby and he is doing so much better. Her prices were VERY fair, I am so happy that I made the switch to her, I know that if this had been diagnosed at my previous vet, it would have been at least 4-5 X more. Dr. Budde is amazing. I have always taken my beloved wee boy to the same excellent veterinarian in San Francisco, and when moving, I was upset that I would need to start over with a new vet, who might not be as empathetic, experienced, or just plain care for my dog the way our previous vet did. My fears were in vain, because I found Dr. Budde. She is deeply knowledgeable and experienced, and also a warm, caring person. I was able to bring up all of my dog's health issues with her, and immediately feel like she was on top of the issue, and we would work together to address ongoing and new health problems over time. My pup is obviously in very good, able hands, and I am so happy. Also: the offices are clean, all the techs are wonderful, and the scheduling system is easy to deal with. Dr. Budde is simply one of the best veterinarians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I kind of wish I could adopt her to be my badass fairy godmother, that's how impressed I am. And we have seen a LOT of vets in the 15 years since we adopted our cat and the 5 years since adopting our dog. From Ithaca, to NYC, Brooklyn, NJ, SF, Chicago, San Diego, and back to the Bay Area -- yes, we have seen vets ALL over the country (our cat is very well traveled). Incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, tenacious, and thorough, and communicative. One of the few doctors with an innately curious mind. Trust me, you want this is in your vet (and any doctor treating you and your family for that matter). Why? She seeks out information. She understands that learning is a lifelong journey that doesn't end with a degree. She will dig and she will look for whatever is available out there if she thinks it can help your case. She won't give up. She's straight forward. She understands the deep love and bond many of us share with our four legged family members. That saying goodbye is a forever decision that the heart must be able to reconcile because the worst thing about opening ourselves up to the joy our fur babies bring is knowing that someday we will outlive them.One of the downsides of being good at what you do -- you're busy all the time. And because it's a one woman show you may have to wait, even if you arrive on time... and sometimes it can take a while to get a call back. However, the upside of having just one vet is the consistency in care you receive.Dr. Budde's tech is also fantastic. Like Dr. Budde she explains everything clearly. She's gentle yet firm and even though we're pretty protective of our babies we feel our senior cat and dog are in good hands when they go to the back to get blood drawn or other procedures. They're open 6 days a week with a half day on Saturday which is so helpful for non-retired folk and they're open until 8pm on Wednesdays so you can go after work. After a truly terrible experience at Sage Redwood City with our dog back in February 2017, where they wanted to euthanize him, I had really lost faith in the vet community...I am so glad I took a chance and decided to try Alta Vista. I came to Alta Vista after a terrible experience with Castro Valley Animal Hospital. What a difference in the way I was treated at Alta Vista such a friendly & caring staff. Jen one of the vet techs spent a lot of time with me explaing what may be wrong with my cat. Then Dr Budde came into the room & also spent a lot of time with me. Usually vets spend maybe 10 minutes but don't really explain much about what they think may be the problem with your pet. I wasn't push to do unessary tests & they had test results faxed over from Castro Valley Animal Hospital which by the way was a big hassle but they didn't give up so I didn't have to have the tests redone. We love Dr. Budde! What other vet would get down on the floor to examine my aging dog (RIP Mala) so I wouldn't have to put her up on the slippery table? And now she does it with my 4 year old pit bull mix, (Bella) so I don't have to lift her with my bad back. Actually, all of the staff get down on the floor at my dogs level to make her feel comfortable. She loves all of the staff and so do I. The front desk personnel answer the phone quickly, have your bill ready quickly, and answer every question. Alta Vista Veterinary Clinic is wonderful! I wouldn't trust any other Vet with my fur-baby. I drive all the way from Berkeley, because of the excellent care that she provides to my dog. I would highly recommend that you carve out some time for your visit, even when it's scheduled, because there is often medical emergencies that take priority and quite frankly, if it were my pet that needed emergency care, I'd hope that I would be treated with the urgency it required. We came to Alta Vista after many years at another clinic, where the prices kept going up, up, up and the staff (including the doctors) constantly changed. Wanted to try something closer to our home and this was it. Dr. Buddie is so enthusiastic about every animal she sees. So far we have only gone for wellness visits and vaccinations, but I know she will help us through the hard times too because she is a very caring person. Great 1st visit, the staff was professional, prompt and extremely helpful. Dr. Budde spent quite a bit of time reviewing the dog's history and current status. She made a few immediate recommendations regarding weight, exercise and joint issues. All excellent advice! After having made these changes in less than 2 weeks I have seen remarkable improvement. My wife just took our baby Codi there. Our dog is literally our child so we've been searching for a good vet and we are beyond blessed to have found one now. Dr. Buddy's knowledge of pets is amazing to say the least. She pin pointed a serious problem our girl was having and not only that she answered every single question my wife had with no hesitations, she went in depth and explained every aspect of the diagnosis for our Codi. My wife couldn't be happier and will keep bringing our girl Codi here and no where else. She did mention Dr. Buddy was extremely to the point, no B.S.
