Love the vets here. Receptionists could learn to treat clients with some manners. I've been told more than once quite rudely that there are no appointments available that day when I'm actually trying to make an appointment for a later date, then either put in hold for more than 5 minutes or get hung up on. I've observed the same treatment if other clients when I am there. If the vets weren't so good I wouldn't bother. Most of the time I go to Noble Vet, but I have a cat that prefers females and is afraid of men. 5 stars for the vets, minus 2 for bad manners at reception. Read Less

We have come to Chabot Veterinary for over 30 years. They have handled routine care, a dog attack causing necessary urgent emergency treatment (asking other owners to cancel nonemergency appointments to help our dog), 2 mast cell tumor operations, food allergy, and euthanasia for our pets with expertise, professionalism, thoroughness and emphathy. I am very confident in the veterinary care they provide. Dr. Marmaleljo has been our primary vet, and Dr. Hughes has provided care occasionally. My experiences with each of them has been great! My daughter took in a older dog. We called for an appointment to get her checked out and we're concerned bc the dog was not eating. They told us to call another vet because we were not regular customers and so they do not offer special appointments and the vet will only see one new patient per day. They do not care that it is an older dog or that maybe the dog was in need of care. How sad and pathetic that you turn away business. I will never recommend this vet. Apparently they do not care or need business. I called Hammonton in Hayward and not only did they get me an appointment but they gave me an emergency nber and address just in case when I got home tonight if the poor dog was in need of urgent care and we couldn't wait until tomorrow. That is a place that cares about dogs and not pathetic policies for a lazy doctor who doesn't want to work. Read Less

Dr. Hughes is so nice and good with the pets that my dog actually gave her kisses after the checkup and shots. My calm cat falls asleep in the exam room, as he has never had a reason to associate the clinic with a bad experience. Now that is how it should be. update some months later: We now also see Dr. Harvey, and the story remains constant :) Our "wilder" cat doesn't claw her way through this clinic anymore, and our new dog, who went into seizure from fear (soon after adopting him from a shelter) his first time at a vet with me, actually now walks in and walks around on his own at this vet hospital. Bad medicine!!! Beware of the vet who provides service on Saturdays. Dr Charlotte is a part time vet at this clinic, fills in on Saturdays, and does not have a business card at the front desk. I'm not sure where she's from or if she practices medicine permanently anywhere but she is BAD!!!! Dr Charlotte put my pet on a treatment plan that sent him to the EMERGENCY VET. I spent thousands for the emergency vet to save my pet's life. The vet at the emergency clinic immediately took my pet off the medications Dr Charlotte prescribed. My pet has been off the medications and treatment plan Dr Charlotte prescribed for a year now and is in good shape. Better than ever! Happy, healthy, and energetic! I was reluctant to bring my pet back to the Chabot Veterinary Clinic so I continued to bring my pet to the emergency clinic monthly to monitor my pet's health after the ordeal. I am happy to say that I have my pet back thanks to the help of the emergency pet clinic. I wish I had never gone to the Chabot Veterinary Clinic. I'm sure the other DVMs are ok but there is no way I would trust my pet with Dr Charlotte. Read Less

We have been going to chabot for many years. Dr. Hughes and Dr. Georg have haken excellant care of our dogs.(And the dogs love them, can't wait to get inside). We got a new male dog who needed to get fixed, and thinking we'd save alittle money we went to the shelter and got a coupon to get it done at another vet. As it turned out, we ended up paying and additional 130.00 than we would of at Chabot, but.....they used antiquated procedures. My dog suffered for two weeks, while wearing that cone, the stitches looked aweful, he rubbed himself raw. And he has bruises in that whole area....Never, Never, Never will I do that again...My dog Austin had his done at Chabot by Dr. Hughes, he stayed overnight, came home the next day, happy healthy and in NO pain....Thank you Chabot for being progressive and staying up with the current procedures for our animals.... My family has been going here for years and they have taken care of several cats and dogs for us. The care is always excellent and the vets listen to our concerns. I wouldn't take my cat anywhere else.Read Less
