I used to think this is the best place to take my animals cuz the staff was nice and the Dr. Seemed to really love my animals but now I think he is just doing as little as possible so you have to keep coming back in so he can make more money of you. This place is terrible the staff was great but the doctor treated me as if i was a liar i picked up a dog that was hit by a car brought it to him he didnt beleive it was not my dog he charged a hundred dollars to put her down although it was not mine i paid it to end her suffering he fired one or his while i was there. My cat began vomiting severely after eating a new food. After $430 he suggested it could be pancreatitis.  There is a test for pancreatitis but he didn't have the one for cats, just for dogs and then he told me he would have to buy a whole box of tests and he wouldn't because it was expensive and the remaining tests would expire before he could use them!  Won't be back. The veterinarian is delightful and thorough. He takes his time with you and your pet. His staff is so sweet and caring. I brought both of my dogs in, and they were quite ill. The wait was very minimal and we are delighted with our service. The only reason I give 4 and not 5 stars is because I feel they do more than necessary for monitary purposes, or at least they try to get you to do more. This is common among most vets anyhow. I just wanted to get antibiotic for my English bulldog. I know my pet!! I'm not a vet but I knew n know exactly what she has. Ear infection( yeast & bacteria) and he came up with a plan. It was to put her under n flush ears and idk. But it would hv been over 600$. When kept telling him I just need anti biotic. Last time he was great this time. A lil rude, and not all vets know about English bulldog. So they did a swab. And omg I was right. Yeast and bacteria!! He wanted to send me home w a ear wash. If I could give him 0 stars I would. My dog has a lump on him of some sort he doesn't have any clue what it is . He didn't say two words to me in the examination area then sends the nurse back in to tell me its going to be almost 1000 dollars for what to remove it? What is it. ? Is it cancer? No explanation except it has to come off. Well that's obvious but Im paying you alot of money you should say something to me! Took my dog in on a Saturday for a ear infection because her normal vet was closed on Saturday. They gave her a Depo-Medrol shot and told me to come back Monday where they were going to flush her ears out and sedate her and it would be $390 . Monday I took her to her normal pets vet where they told me it was the ear infection gave her ear drops and antibiotics charged me $80. I will never go back to mar animal hospital. Read Less

Took my dog galieth in because he was not eating vomiting lethargy and has a history of eating objects. It was very obvious he was blocked. All dr jowandha did was give him an anti vomiting shot anti biotic (oral) wich he didnt keep down. And sent us home $500 later. 2 days later i had to take him to calif vet special. Where they confirmed he was blocked but it was to late we had to put him down. Cvs said had dr jowandha done the proper tests he would still be alive. Dr jowandha is only there to collect your money and his staff are horrible. They talk behind your back judge you and according to how much money you have. And if you are on a fixed income (because you served your country and are disabled) then you have nothing commin from this dr and his staff. The new vet bought the business, he has apparently made the staff sick, my cat sick, me sick, we now go 1,000 N Buena Vista St. The new doctor at Mar is very mean. He accusses you of lying about your pet. He says everything is illegal. I doubt he even a real vet. Its shocking. Hes so rude, impolite, callous, its shocking. Very rude, I'd have to say mean. Our dog was a rescue dog so had some emotional issues and was very scared of vets, so went and put his head in the corner. The vet was literally yelling at me that I needed to have our dog socialized. A vet, who's training would have included this type of thing. Our dog was not being aggressive, but was not cooperating as well as the vet expected. Yes, he peed on the floor, but didn't deserve to be treated so badly. Read Less

I have recently been looking to switch vets after I took my dog to Small Animal Hospital and found out their office wanted to charge me close to $60 for an office visit to get a refill on a prescription for my lab's chronic ear infection. That didn't include medication! My groomer recommended Dr. Acevedo. Although this office isn't ""plugged-in"" with a website or online means of getting information, I went to give them a try. I do as much online as I can, so I appreciate the vets that have registration forms that I can print and fill out before my appointment. Not only was the office visit $35, but when I paid, the lady (whom I assume is his wife) at the front told me to come back in two weeks and the doctor would check him again FOR FREE. The fact they care enough about the animals to make it easy for their owners to get the proper care says a lot about their business. Dr. A is quiet and reserved, but he loves the animals. We recently got a new puppy and she's already going there for her shots. Also, they don't try to force upon you special dog food or flea protection. They only give you what you need. Read Less
