NEVER VISIT HESPERIA ANIMAL HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO DIE.
My dog Sophie was lethargic for a few days so we went to Hesperia Animal Hospital at 12:30pm. The vet charged $1,000 to run tests and to give her fluid. After we left, we saw various negative reviews about the hospital so we called the vet multiple times and they didn’t answer any of our calls.
After arriving at the vet, Dr. Erick Ballesteros said that Sophie “might have some kidney disease” but he had no other information despite supposedly running various tests. He recommended keeping Sophie until 5:30pm to continue getting fluids.
When we picked her up at 5:30pm, the vet technician, not Dr. Ballesteros, handed Sophie to us. Sophie was barely recognizable; she couldn’t keep her head up and she was extremely limp. She was extremely unresponsive.
We asked the vet technician what’s wrong with Sophie, and the tech had no idea. The hospital wrote the name of an emergency vet hospital on Sophie’s discharge papers, as if they knew that she’d need more help.
Sophie was drastically worse after picking her up from Hesperia Animal Hospital. We’ve never ever experienced anything like this with any other vet before.
They also charged us for X-Rays but didn’t discuss the results with us. They handed the X-Rays back on a DVD(?) which we’ve never seen done before.
After being reassured by Hesperia Animal Hospital that Sophie was fine we took her back home, but several hours passed and she still looked very limp and lifeless. She was even unable to hold her head up. We took her to an emergency vet and they immediately rushed her back, telling us that she’s in critical condition and her blood pressure is dangerously low.
When we told the emergency vet that Sophie was previously at Hesperia Animal Hospital, the technician rolled her eyes because of its horrible reputation (that we previously were unaware of). We gave the emergency vet the DVD that supposedly had Sophie’s X-Rays, but they weren’t able to read them; this suggests the X-Rays weren't done at all.
They were very confused as to what Hesperia Animal Hospital did to Sophie, and they’re currently trying to save her life. Sophie went into Hesperia Animal Hospital with lethargy and came out 5 hours later in a life-threatening condition.
Sophie is currently unresponsive and requires critical overnight care at the emergency vet because she’s not responsive and has inflammation in her abdomen, and her organs are shutting down. The emergency vet asked if she was given anything that could have poisoned her.
The emergency vet said that Sophie's lethargy the past few days was likely pneumonia, NOT a kidney disease. Hesperia Animal Hospital COMPLETELY misdiagnosed Sophie and their actions could be potentially costing our family dog her life.
EVEN MORE, after looking up Hesperia Animal Hospital’s CEO, Shafeeq Ahmed, we found that in September 2024 he was cited for MULTIPLE problems, including: negligence in the treatment of multiple patients and failure to communicate to the client life-threatening complications which occurred during the patient's surgery.
Hesperia Animal Hospital needs to be shut down for its disgusting treatment of the pets we trusted them to save. Their negligence and cruelty are beyond unacceptable. Read Less
