Nice facility, friendly and helpful staff. When I asked for an estimate for a spay they not only gave me the number, but a full print out of what that would cover and explained everything, including the process to me. Horrible. How the hell do they want to get new clients if they won't even give you the time of day?I called in to ask about a simple beak trim but since I wasn't a regular client they told me that they couldn't help me. I've been away from my birds for a while and I noticed one of them has an abnormally long beak. I'm worried that she isn't eating properly because of it. Read Less

Had an appointment for a simple rabies shot, was left waiting in the lobby for 40min AFTER our appointment with no explanation while every person who came in after us was served and seemed to get right in. Screw this place, we won't be back. Read Less

A couple of months ago I tried to make an appointment  for my dog who I knew had an ear infection.  I  was told that there were no appointments available for at least a week or so. I said fine, I'll  find another vet.  So, I did to take care of that problem since it was an ear infection  that I  disnt want to get worse!  Today, I  called for another issue and was told because of what I  said 2 months ago about finding another vet, I  am no longer welcome there even though I  have been taking my dog there for a few years.  The front office staff runs the place apparently and I doubt the vet knows whats going on.  I  see he lost a vet that was a recent hire also.  Only in Hollister do people run a business like this.I spoke with Danielle who is supposed to be the office manager and she stated that they have 8000 clients with only one vet at this time.  Basically, he can't do it all.  Fair enough, but explain whats going on to the person calling in to make an appointment.   Besides, who wants to take their animal to a vet who is super rushed anyway, just like when Doctors are rushed who knows what they might miss.  So, be careful  if you question them, because they may "discharge" you. I brought my 2.5 year old Bengal/Jungle cat, Sheba, in for her 1st soft paws application as we just moved into a new home with wall to wall carpeting which she saw as her own 2000 + square foot scratch post!I did a lot of research in advance on how well soft paws and the like work and though they're not perfect I thought they might work. Based on  my previous failed attempts at trimming Sheba's nails, though, I knew I needed professional help! I scoured Yelp for local groomers and vets and finally settled on Family Petcare as they not only offered the best price but the receptionist was super patient, polite and helpful and unlike other places I called, she said I could  be in the room with them!I was soooo relieved at how well Charlotte and Meredith handled Sheba. They were very calm, gentle but in control with her, & she is a big, muscular girl who doesn't tolerate having her nails touched, yet alone trimmed!When I brought Sheba home she worked on chewing off the soft paws but so far, after two days of diligent effort, she's only managed to take off three, and all on her back paws, which she's least likely to scratch up the carpet with. I hope the rest stay on for a few weeks. Meredith and Charlotte said they could last as long as 8 weeks. If II could give this vet center 0 stars I would.  On May 19th, I found a kitten by Sunnyslope School that had been hit by a car.  It was crying and obviously in pain.  Took it immediately up to the Sunnyslope vet who was closed.  Their receptionist recommended the Family Pet Care Center.  When I went there, however, it was not a positive experience.  The girl at the front desk wouldn't let me talk to the vet.  I was obviously upset and the cat was crying in pain.  Her response to having the cat humanly euthanized was to take it to the pound (which was closed since it was after 5).  Even after I told her that the cat was in pain and would die a painful death didn't sway her.  I was too distraught to talk about payment; I was under that assumption that payment from me was a given.  I didn't expect them to do this for free.Only after my husband called to talk with them and assure them that I would pay the charges did they take the kitten and immediately euthanized her. While I work in Hollister, I live in Los Banos.  Thankfully we have a vet in Los Banos that would not only have taken the kitten but would not have charged me the ridiculous charges Family Pet Care Center did.  After reading the reviews below, I can only assume that this vet is more interested in the money they can make vs the care for obviously injured animals. So I've been here a few times, I'm one of those people who bring their pet in when something is wrong, and get vaccinations at the low cost clinics.  Each time I've gone in, it has cost between $400 & $800 for random testing that didn't turn out to be anything.  So in the last two months I've called twice to get my pet in because something was actually wrong. The first time I called on Friday afternoon and was told they didn't have anything available... I totally get it, not a problem at all, but they didn't offer any ideas for a way to relieve the pain he was in... Another vet in town couldn't see him but at least gave me some ideas to help him out. The second time I went in first thing on a Friday morning, telling them that my pet was in pain, begging for them to please see him.  The girl behind the counter asked what was going on, I explained the situation and was told "we don't have any appointments today, you'll have to wait until Monday."  Newsflash!  I don't have to wait til Monday, there are other vets in town who want my business. Been bringing my pets here for the past 6 years without a problem. My cat was given a clean bill of health just a couple months ago but recently fell ill. I called their office and the vet technician refused to convey a message to the doctor who had previously examined my cat (I was requesting a blood panel).
