I took my cat here after I noticed his breath started to stink really bad and was drooling. The vet had told me that he had gingivitis and prescribed some anti bionics for him. They seemed to have worked, but a few weeks down the line we learned his kidney's had been failing. He had been unable to move to use the litter box and was laying in puddles of his own Urine. We made the decision to put him to sleep as he was no longer moving, eating, or drinking. The entire staff here was amazing, from the receptionists to the veterinary doctors and nurses. They were all so kind and very comforting. About a week after we put him to sleep, we received a card in mail from the clinic giving their condolences for our loss. We had him cremated, and I was expecting more of an urn when picking up the ashes. However, it was a very well crafted wooden box, complete with a lock and a key, with his name engraved on top. Which I think was very creative and well done. I would like to thank Hollister Veterinary Clinic for giving such a great and helpful experience. I have brought my dog into this clinic for years. Peggy needs to be taken out of this facility.  She is absolutely rude. I've heard several stories regarding PEGGY.  It's hard enough to bring a sick dog in but having to deal with a rude sadsack on top of it is darn impossible. .go else where. She is insensative,  other employee's make comments about her sad behavior.  She needs to go..hopefully the owners read this. Read Less

Today I took my two 5 month old kittens to the Clinic. It was my first time there and it left a great impression on me.  I was relieved yesterday when I made an appointment by phone because they had quick availability for appointments. (Unlike another Veterinary clinic in Hollister that was booked for months for some reason :/ )  Anyways  I thought that my kittens had ringworm and the Vet assured me that they didn't.  Then I got other necessary shots and stuff done and got good recommendations. All the staff was great and friendly.  Of course I don't hope to go to the vet soon because I hope my kittens will stay  healthy. But I feel their in good hands at the Hollister Veterinary Clinic. -Thank you Read Less

The ladies up front were lovely and quite helpful,calmed my nerves a bit.The vet answered my questions kind of yes/no.My first time in and he didn't really discuss anything about the routine vaccinations or neutering (told me to just get him neutered without much discussion on the topic),he just administered the shot,answered my questions,told me about my dogs dandruff,provided treatment product and left.Again,the ladies up front were quite lovely,talked to me about the routine vaccine,flea preventative,dandruff treatment,and some tips. Went in there 5 minutes before they were closing on a holiday. I needed to put my cat down she was dying.  I had just left another vet that wanted to charge me 450 dollars which I had an appointment for and was not an emergency visit. I walked in had never been seen there before the dr was getting ready to leave. The staff was wonderful the doctor stayed to put her down the office was closed by now and I never felt rushed they gave me as much time as I needed to spend with my cat. I picked her urn up a week later in a nice wood box with a velvet bag. The price was resonable. I cannot say enough about how kind and compassionate the staff was. Read Less

I took my dog here for what appeared to be bug bites or a rash. After $240 they could not diagnose the problem.  I called back to see if they would waive the $35 re-check fee since I had spent a large amount of money essentially for nothing. They refused.The vet and the staff were all very pleasant. But if they wouldn't waive $35, given the circumstances, it's not a vet I would ever return to, nor recommend. I've had vets waive the initial office visit fee just by asking and for no other reason then they wanted my business. A good vet is like a good mechanic, and a vet that is in business primarily to gouge customers is like a mechanic that does the same.For $35 they could have had my business this next time and from here on out. Apparently, I wasn't important enough to them.Had they diagnosed the problem I wouldn't have minded paying $500. Read Less

Went there when 2 of my dogs got worms.  Cost was $550.!!!!!!  Found out later, I could have gotten the same pill from the pet store.  What a rip off.   Now, I go to Animal Hospital of Hollister.  Great place and reasonable price. Read Less

Years ago I had to put my cat down because she was very sick. I asked them to cremate her, I chose a mahogany box, paid the bill and never got her back They filled out the paperwork wrong and she was processed with all the other animals. My friends cat had it's leg amputated here just to find out she actually had cancer and after a costly surgery she had to put her down anyway. Maybe it's changed but I won't go back. Read Less

Really nice staff-horrible doctor!  Almost killed my dog by not diagnosing correctly. When prescribed medicine was not helping, took to Santa Cruz hosp and they had me stop medication a AND found it was something totally different! Read Less

I took my puppy Bella in March to the Vet's office by McDonald's and what a mistake!They charged me a ridiculous amount, only to tell me to put Peroxide on her wound and then proceeded to give me an ointment for her leg, which they no longer make and haven't made in quite some time.  Thanks for nothing!I will never take my Bella to another Clinic.  Hollister Vet Clinic did an awesome job of taking care of her!  They wrapped her leg, gave her a shot, got her a collar and gave her medication for 2 weeks.  She's jumping and running without a care in the world.  Also, the cost of everything they did was the same amount as some quack doc telling me to put Peroxide on a wound.I totally recommend this clinic, they are awesome and made Bella feel comfortable. Dr. LeRoux and staff are very knowledgable and friendly. I have been taking my cats there for years. They are an appointment only vet and Dr. LeRoux is semi-retired so you have to keep this in mind when you want to book an appointment. They have always managed to see me for emergencies but I have a backup plan in case they are booked. The staff is great. They always treat me and my pets great. I saw their new vet, Dr. Dixe, and she was nice but if I get a choice I will always choose Dr. LeRoux. Read Less

Everybody here is so friendly and I love them.  Even under horrid circumstances of a dying pet, they stayed with me and let me cry as much as I wanted.  It's not their fault if an animal has an incurable, acute problem that cannot be overcome, and I suspect that's why some people are mad at them, but they certainly do everything they can.  Doctors and vets can't always treat everyone successfully, people or critter.  I love Miko but all the assistants are wonderful.  I don't know their names but they are all so kind.  Dr. LeRoux is very deliberative and knows some of even the oddest diagnoses. Only because there's no 0 star option did I give them a 1 star. Our cat suffered for MONTHS because of these people. We brought her in and they did all these tests, gave us a ton of medications, and told us basically she was ok yet she continued to vomit and lose weight. We thought we had to put her down, so we went to the closest vet to us to do so. We were there 1 minute and the nurse there said, "Whoa wait.." and long story short, after only being there 15 min. the vet at Hollister Animal Hospital felt her intestines and found she had a problem.. THAT EASILY! They gave her a depo shot and she her vomitting STOPPED for the first time in MONTHS. Ok... it took a vet 15 MINUTES TO FIGURE THIS OUT AT A DIFFERENT VET!!! All she had to do was palpatate her tummy!!! Now, our Precious has to be on these shots about every 2-3 weeks and we can't thank Hollister Animal Hospital for not just saying ok lets put this thinned to skin and bones cat down, lets save her!! DONT TAKE YOUR PET TO SUNNYSLOPE VETERINARY GROUP!! ALSO!! THEY OVER CHARGED US NEARLY 200 DOLLARS ON A BILL AND HOPED WE WOULDN'T CATCH IT! My dad is elderly and the lady even read the bill back to my dad when he went to get our cat and she HAD TO HAVE seen the mistakes!!! I seen them RIGHT OFF THE BAT! Within the past 6 months I have lost 2 dogs while under the care of Hollister Vet. It is pretty apparent that a lot of people come here which is why I figured that it must be reputable. Sadly I am very disappointed!Our first dog that passed, was pretty old and had arthritis in his hind legs. We brought him in because we found him at the end of the porch stairway struggling to get up. We gave it the weekend but he was still unable to get up so we took him in on Monday morning to Hollister Vet. They took X-Rays, gave him a shot (Analgesic Injection-Depomedrol) and Phycox, then sent us home. At this point he was unable to move but normal behavior and normal appetite, we figured he'll be up and at 'em in no time. 2 Days went by and still no improvement, still eating though. The doctor prescribed Amantadine so we picked it up on Wednesday and gave it to him that evening. After he took it he completely lost his appetite and became VERY thirsty, weak and lethargic. The next day we called the vet to inform them of these issues because he looked like he took a turn for the worst. They said it will take time and suggested a prescription canned food. Given the fact that he just didn't want any food at all, just LOADS of water, he didn't even touch it. He looked like he was in sooooo much pain, I'm not sure if it could have been the Amantadine? Friday early morning (around 3AM) he passed away. Our second dog that passed was a pretty small dog. He had back issues, which are common in his breed. We brought him in last Monday because he started throwing up and stopped eating. We just figured he had eaten something he wasn't supposed to. They did some blood tests, gave him some anti-nausea medicine and told us to come back if there was still no improvement. We gave it 3 days and still no change. Thursday evening we noticed that he was taking very short, shallow, hard breaths so we rushed him to The United Emergency Animal Clinic in Campbell.  They told us that he was very dehydrated and gave him some fluids as well as a shot of the anti-nausea medication. We then left to make an appointment with Hollister Vet since the Emergency Vet strongly advised us to promptly take him to our family vet ASAP so they can run some X-Rays and more tests. They said it was very crucial that he is seen right away and they even faxed over all the paperwork and recommendations. We called Hollister Vet and they said that there was absolutely no way they could fit us in. Of course I don't expect them to drop everything for our precious pet but this being the second seriously ill dog that we have taken to them within the last 4-5 months, I would think that they would TRY to be a little more flexible than "Absolutely Not." Not to mention that we have 6 other pets that are also trusted under their care. Although very frustrated, we ended up going to another Vet. They were actually very helpful and even gave us an extra x-ray at no additional cost because they were so concerned about his condition. You would think that Hollister Vet would have made that kind of nice gesture since we have been going to them forever but no, not them, because god forbid they have to go out of their way! When we finally took the poor thing home, he seemed to be doing a whole lot better. We were very optimistic! Unfortunately slowly but surely he got worse though once again, to the point where he was no longer keeping down even water, let alone food. He was very THIRSTY and lethargic, much worse than any other night. He was so exhausted and weak so we saw no other choice but to put him down. We couldn't watch him suffer anymore. When we got there and told them that he needed to be put down right away they looked surprised and asked us if we were sure?! They then decided to take that time to look over the paperwork that the Emergency Vet sent over and suggested that it may be a tumor in the stomach and we could get an ultra sound but given his condition at this point, if it was a tumor it was obviously too late. His little body was barely holding on.     If your looking for a friendly Vet who looks out for your pet's best interest, keeps in good contact and appreciates your business, sadly this is not the place. This place is absolute CRAP. They are closed most weekends, and when they are open, the vet is sometimes not present. A year back our dog got hit in the eye by a rock while I mowed the lawn, so of course we rushed her to the vet. This was at about 1:50-2:30 so of course we thought we'd get rather fast help. WRONG. When we got there, the secretary told us the vet was out to lunch. At 2:00??? What the hell??? Dont even bother going here. Ausaymas is 1000x better, and its very much worth the 10 minute drive out of town. You'll get the best possible service here, and most often without wait. Read Less
