I have been going to Dr Birr for 13 years and never have I had any of the bad experiences described here. She runs a good clinic and yes, some things can be expensive, but at the same time, she charges much less for a lot of services. My friends use a different vet and always pay 2X what I am averaging for visits.
If she seems condescending, guess what, too bad. I have been scolded by her and/or staff over the years for doing what I read online instead of just contacting them. So now I just take my dogs there pretty much right away, before I create complications. Preventive measure = cheap; paying for major med's, or special services, or treatments, or special food is always going to cost more.
This clinic is comprised of regular and very caring people, who care about your pet, your feelings are and should be second to that. If you need coddling or hand holding, get over it. Listen to what they tell you and follow their directions. These are the lessons I have learned over the years of going here.
One final note, I had a very sick dog, and through Dr Birr's care I managed to extend her useful and happy days for an extra two years. During this time Community Vet was helpful, available and compassionate. I could not give higher praise. As a life-long dog owner I have been to a lot of vets and this place is good in my book.
