Dr. Lizardo has taken great care of my Miso over the years. I was so grateful to have found this place through the program that offers to pay for spay/neuter services. I found this vet on yelp when mine was closed for the day.  My cat had a UTI and the vet was able to see her on the same day. The first thing that was so wonderful was that I was a new customer so they didn't charge me for an office visit. The best part was that the vet knew that I knew what was wrong and he just gave her the medication knowing that I was going to take her to my regular vet for follow up.  No unnecessary testing or other issues. I would definitely recommend this vet and wouldn't hesitate going back to their office. The only complaint I have is that it's a bit loud in the waiting room with the hard floors and walls I guess. I have a 5 year old, 23 pound lemon beagle mix who wasn't able to urinate for an entire day. Her health was visibly draining real fast so my only option on a Sunday night was to take her to the emergency pet hospital. They wanted 4k for emergency surgery to remove the bladder stones so I decided no... had them insert a catheter to push the bladder stones back into her stomach for temporary relief until I was able to take her to Beach Blvd. Pet Hospital Monday morning instead. Come Monday morning, with everything already faxed from the pet hospital, Dr. Hashimoto, who is very friendly and personable, was the one who consulted with us. She gave me a thorough explanation of the surgical process and quote. (Which was WAY cheaper than the pet ER's quote, thank God!) My dog spent two nights there in recovery. From the front desk staff to the doctors, everyone was professional and treated my dog with the greatest care. It takes a special group of people to make a person feel comfortable after their dog had been badly bitten by another dog twice its size. I write a bunch of reviews, but this will be my first thank you letter on yelp. Dr. Hashimoto was a miracle worker and got my little guy back on his feet after just one day. He is healing fantastically and will be better in no time. It lifts my heart to see his tail already wagging!! So happy with their service! It felt like dealing with family and the Dr. Hashimoto was so friendly, honest, and fair with pricing and treatment recommendations. My rescue alley cat was having symptoms of a urinary tract infections and I was worried I'd have to pay a bunch of money. Fortunately, she recommended a urinary culture (which showed signs of a blockage), using antibiotics, and switching to wet food / c/d food. We used the antibiotics and switched to wet food, and he ended up passing his blockage whether it was from the antibiotics or naturally. Nonetheless, I was happy she didn't try to sell me on a more expensive route of treatment. I would like to come back soon to have my dogs teeth cleaned. Thank you! Read Less

Dr. Lizardo and his staff are awesome!  We've been coming here for over 3 years, so this review is long overdue.  Our dog Dottie randomly ate wood and was super sick.  We brought her in twice for the same issue because we were nervous that she wasn't getting better.  The second visit was on a Saturday and they wouldn't be back until Monday and guess who called Sunday morning to check on Dottie?!  He cares about his furry patients and goes above and beyond.  My husband and I couldn't be happier with their services.  You won't be disappointed. Not my regular vet, but I brought my friend's dog here a few months ago when he got into some old chocolate while staying at my house. The whole staff knew the dog and greeted him like a family member, and the doctor was very helpful and not only told me he would be fine, but took the time to explain the reason chocolate is bad for dogs (I knew that it was, but not why) and how much it would take to be harmful. I had a hard time finding a good vet for my two dogs.  They are both rescues and it seemed most vets were afraid of the chihuahua terrier mix.  A friend kept recommending this hospital and I didn't take her advice until the last vet I had was very unprofessional.  Oh wow, I wish I had gone to these guys before.  Dr. Lizardo and Dr. Hashimoto are amazing.  Every other vet I have gone to tries to pad their bills with unnecessary procedures.  Not these guys.  I have even said to Dr. Lizardo "shouldn't I get his teeth cleaned now?" and he said, not unless you have $350 burning a hole in your pocket.  He urged me to wait until dental health month to save some money and showed me on a chart what stage my dog's teeth were in. He assured me his teeth were fine.  They don't treat me like an idiot, they know I am knowledgeable in the care of my dogs and they treat me with respect.  I never feel rushed and the prices are pretty reasonable.  Take your pets here.  You will not regret it.  Best vets in Orange County!!! Drs. Hashimoto and Lizardo have been caring for my dogs for the last 9 years. I would not go anywhere else. They have gotten my dogs through some very serious diseases, and have given professional and compassionate care every time. They are not afraid to ask for a consultation if they feel that they need further advice from a specialist in that field. I like that, it makes me feel that my dog is getting the best care possible. They have also helped me send several of my dogs to the Rainbow Bridge. They couldn't have been more sympathetic and understanding, and gave me all the time I needed for my tears and that final "Goodbye". Very caring husband and wife team. I have called the office for some advice for my dog (Bosco) and they are quick to respond. Bosco has been going there for 3 years and my other dog (Kobe) who died for 3 years. They were very caring when we had to put Kobe to sleep. I recommend them very highly. They are both very knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate, but most importantly they always take great care of our furry children. They have performed surgeries, treated ear infections, cured skin problems, cleaned teeth, boarded, groomed, flea treated, and done just about everything that pets need over the years from new puppy checkups through senior pet care. BBPH is an older facility that's kind of stuck further back from the road, between a Chipotle and an auto service; you have to really pay attention when you're driving down Beach Blvd, or you'll be slamming on the brakes to avoid the dreaded Heil-Gothard-Edinger backtrack. It's happened to me a few times.. yeah, I was born a blonde.Our Labrador retriever will be turning 8 this year, and Drs. Lizardo and Hashimoto have been his vets since he was a one-year-old pup. In all that time, Tabasco has been a healthy dog, only requiring a few visits for minor wounds in between the yearly vaccination appointments. Unlike the previous vet which we had taken him to when he was a two-month-old baby, BBPH seems genuinely concerned about the animals in their care, as opposed to padding the bill with gratuitous x-rays "just to be certain". Dr. Lizardo seems especially knowledgeable about retrievers (he owns a Golden) and his insight into this wonderful breed has been invaluable in his evaluations of our dog. That's seven years of solid, reliable medical care for our boy -- we have a lot of confidence in BBPH!Just a note: save your "Elizabethan collars", aka Cones of Shame, after your pet is all better -- down the road, you'll likely need one again, and they charge you seventeen bucks for one of the larger, Labrador-sized collars ( I don't know what the smaller versions cost). Prices are reasonable in here.  Took my chug in here twice now  and will be back next month for her teeth cleaning.  The vet told me to put off the teeth cleaning until February, National Pet Dental Health Month, when the office will offer discount for dental services. I just got back from taking my normally skittish cat, Rocky, for his annual checkup.It was a pleasure to take him as Rocky wasn't the slightest bit nervous or upset. The doctors, who are husband and wife, have a great way with our pets; Olive, our Boston Terrier, and Rocky out cat.  Our babies are eager to see the vets when we drive up.Only once have we had an emergency. We were told to bring Olive right in and she was attended to immediately. We thought it was an emergency, but it really wasn't nearly as bad as we thought but she was treated very promptly. This is absolutely the best vet I've had since I moved to CA 12 years ago and said goodbye to the vet I had in Texas. Dr. Lizardo and Dr. Hashimoto are a married couple who LOVE their patients and know their owners by name and face. This is every sense of the word "family practice". We've been coming here for about 6 years. These two doctors treated my sister's cat for her kidney disease and we kept little Deeda going for about a year before it was her time. They took care of my cat Kiki from age 14 to age 20... and I drove all the way back from Fresno when I had been living there with a guy in order for them to take a last look at her when she was sick and be the ones to be with me and her in her last moments. I now have a new kitty named Charlie and he is 1 year old. We got him from a rescue shelter and he's the sweetest boy. However, he would have probably darwinized himself by now if it weren't for Dr. Lizardo. He's managed to get his tail smashed and need it amputated (the tissue became necrotic beyond where the tail injury was), got his face stung by a bee and had a reaction, had a fungal infection in his nose, and now he got into my sewing thread when I accidentally left the door open and was gone for a day. I came back to thread all over the house and thought nothing of it, but the next evening he threw up 12 times and refused to eat and became very lethargic. Beach Blvd Pet Hospital ALWAYS makes room for your pets when they need to be seen urgently. If it is during office hours they WILL see you if you need them. Dr. Hashimoto examined Charlie and was concerned for his reaction to his tummy exam so they did an X-ray and found nothing. The two Dr's discussed the situation and suggested to me that they do exploratory surgery. It wasn't cheap, but it was MUCH cheaper than it would have been at somewhere like VCA or one of the big fancy clinics.  As someone who has worked in the medical field, I completely understand the fees and I find the prices of this place beyond reasonable.I asked them to do it after he explained to me the reason why it was necessary, and SURE ENOUGH... Dr. Lizardo found 3 FEET of black thread coiled up in his small intestine.  Charlie would have died a few days later from the string getting stuck in his intestines and causing them to shift and bunch up. What a horrible way for a sweet animal to die. If it wasn't for Dr. Lizardo's quick thinking he would not have made it. I am so glad to have this vet. There are many times in which I have lived all over Southern California (Pasadena, Van Nuys, Monrovia, LA) and I always would be willing to drive 100+ miles to this vet to have these Dr's see my pets. I even did it when I lived in Fresno. Bring your pet here. Don't let the small and slightly old look of this place turn you away and send you to some fancy place. Interior design doesn't make a good vet. How they treat your animals does, and how they make them better. Once again, thank you guys from the bottom of my heart!!!! Read Less

I agree with the last reviewer. I have used bbph for 4-5 years(I have 2 labs and 2 cats) and have never had a bad experience. Occasionally good places can have a bad, no place is perfect, but I always look to see if a place is doing the best that they can and bbph does. I never have to wait very long. And when it is busy it always seems like the staff and doctors are doing their best to keep up and they do an excellent job. I had been to other vet hospitals where it takes forever just to buy dog food and at times have to wait up to 2 hours to see the doctor. Never again.
