I came in today to asked to buy medication that I've bought before, and then they told me to bring in my dog so they could have a look and do some more work. Last visit had the doctor list out of a bunch of problems along with my dog and said that blood work was necessary and that he would pass away in the next year. It's been two years and he's fine. All my pets have been coming here for about 5,6 years and I wouldn’t take them anywhere else Dr.Tran and his lovely wife Jackie they have always taken the very best care of each and everyone of my baby’s. They have the best staff and additional Dr.s on hand Dr. Medina is one of them. They have always taken the time to explain what it is you need to understand and what is best for your pet. If i could give the vet no stars i would. Its the worst experience ive ever had! They quote you one thing and it turns out to be twice as much. I paid for two weeks worth of medication and got one weeks worth. I was instructed wrong on how to administer the drug. The girls in the front are beyond rude and condescending. Friendly? Nope. This review is for the clerical staff only. The doctor was great, but trying to get in to see him was like trying to get an autograph for Bieber. For some reason the staff here automatically states they will not be able to help us even when there's only 1 other animal waiting to be seen. We needed travel certificated for 2 of our dogs. We had asked if they were done there, and were told yes while we were getting other shots done. So we make all our plans to go across the border to Baja. We walk in and were told we should have made an appointment. I let her know we weren't told that and had walked in for our 2 previous visits. The waits were horrendous, but we were moving at the time and had no choice but to squeeze in the vet. She asks when are going, and I let her know now (as soon as we get the certificates). She says, ok I can get you in tomorrow morning. What the hell? Why ask and then tell me? So I asked if there were any way we could be seen and she said only if we're willing to wait. This is all on her own not checking with the doc at all. After we are placed in a room the doctor comes right in to let us know after a quick look and see at the dog he can sign the certificate. We then see him go out to the waiting area and let each family know about how long it would be. I think he took about half an hour to come in. Exam took 5 minutes. Then we had to wait for the certificate. About an hour and a half later the clerks brought us back into the waiting area in front. They said it would be a minute. Over an hour later we were finally called up to pay and another 20 minutes for them to print it out. Boo clerical staff at FAH. It was clear they were being real jerks about it. Why? Because the doctor wanted to help us? Not mention the visit cost us $140. We changed to Magnolia Animal hospital just down the street and they didn't charge us for a doctor visit for our remaining dog. Read Less

I appreciate the veterinarian's personable consultation/overall exam. He was very gentle with my pet and was non judgmental and very informative and helpful. He told me all the options, the illnesses and cause and prevention and remedies while being courteous and understanding. Very compassionate to pets. Great service, very friendly workers. The work can be a bit slow, we had an appointment to bring our dog in to remove a cone and it took nearly an hour to wait for us and for them to remove it. I understand that there are emergencies and things can't be controlled, but still -1 star for the inconvenience of waiting so long when I had an appointment. Read Less

A heart breaking experience ! He tried to put my healthy Chinese Crested to sleep ! Lied to me, & wanted a$1,000 deposit to start ! He's the most lying, greedy vet ive ever seen ! This story is too long to relate, but I took my Jackson out of that evil & ran crying, he was going to kill my dog,cause I wouldn't pay the $1,000, & i already paid $350 for the & blood work ! There's so much more horror to tell you, but it's so painful to re-live ! One dog was there for grooming, & he got out somehow through 3 doors, & was hit by a car, going by, & died !!!!! This place is a complete joke! Don't waste your time or money on them. I had to put my dog down and they made me wait in the waiting area past 8 PM and then told me it was going to be extra because it was now considered "after hours". Then they charged me extra to sit in the room with her when they put her down. They were completely cold about the situation and the manager is heartless. I had taken my dog there a few times prior, and thought the same as most of these comments...it was good, but after the way they price gouged me and how heartless they were about the whole thing, I tell EVERYONE I meet who has an animal to stay the hell away from there! Took my dog in to get her annual shots as a first time new client and was delighted that the first time visit would be free and the rabies vaccine would be free also. Awesome! Not so much. Want some reasons? Here's 3- 1- The rabies vaccine was free but the other plethora of shots that the front office staff recommended (not from the doctor's recommendation, just the front office staff PRIOR to even getting into the exam room) cost me about 100 bucks. Cost really isn't the main problem that I have with this...when it comes to my dog, she's family, I'll pay whatever I need to in order to keep her healthy and on the right track. But when I went for a second opinion to another vet after this appointment they were disgusted that this office would even administer these vaccines to my 9 year old dog. Excessive and unnecessary medications...great start. Except that wasn't even the start...the actual shots weren't even discussed with Dr. Tran in the room and didn't even happen until about 3 hours later. Yep 3 hours... 2- The appointment took almost 3 hours including Dr. Tran walking out of the room in the middle of talking to me while saying "be back in a minute. you can wait a little longer, right?" and then leaving without hearing me respond. Now, for an office to try to attract new clients with "free first visit" or the numerous mail ads that I'm sure you've seen...WHY WOULD THEY MAKE A FIRST TIME CLIENT WAIT ~3 HOURS FOR THE APPOINTMENT? Talk about making a terrible first impression. Again, this isn't only about my discomfort or disappointment but how much does your dog like going to the vet? Let alone sitting in the exam room for almost 3 hours...All the while there's a computer screen mounted on the wall that plays a video talking about periodontal disease and a whole slew of other issues that will ultimately kill your pet if left untreated. 3- Dr. Tran finally comes into the room and starts off by drawing a bell curve on the back of my dog's chart and explains that this is the way a dog's life progresses. He then asks me how old my dog is and draws a line on the downhill curve towards the end and says that my dog is basically going to die soon so let's start there (didn't bother asking any health history or if there's any concerns or even the breed!). Now I'm here as a first time client just trying to get my dog's annual exam and the doctor starts off by essentially telling me my healthy dog is going to die soon. Awesome. I can't even comment on professionalism because there was none displayed by Dr. Tran. As I mentioned above, he left in the middle of the exam, but also didn't even know his vet tech's name who came in to help him. He berated her for not holding my dog securely (didn't offer to show her, just condescendingly snapped at her) when he grabbed at my dog's mouth before his tech was even close enough to hold the dog... At this point I shouldn't have been surprised to hear his recommendations for a new finding that he discovered in my dog. Instead of trying to describe it to me (maybe there's a communication or language barrier?) he decided to google images on the mounted computer screen and then leave the room again to not return at all. Finally a different staff member came in with an estimate of surgical procedures the doctor recommends and briefly went through it. Needless to say, I sought a second opinion at another office. Surprisingly the other office had a first time visit free also and the experience was like night and day... I'm hoping my experience was a fluke at FAH but I couldn't in good faith NOT write this review in case this is the norm for their office.... excessive medications, extreme wait times, terrible bedside manner, no questions answered...just overall really disappointing and frustrating. I have used this facility three different times and all three times have been completely satisfied. This last time my 9 year old dog had an abscessed tooth. They got her in same day. They were generous and worked with me on the cost and even call Ed the next day to check on her. I will continue to use them for my pets tooth care needs. Read Less

He has really great prices for the 20 years of experience that he has. If you go elsewhere, you would for sure be paying for a higher price. My dog, Lucky had pyometra and he provided the surgical procedure immediately at a lower cost than the other veterinarians. He really cares about the animals and explained to us about the entire procedure and what my dog had, and because my dog's case was so severe and required immediate attention, he was willing to give us a free ultrasound and waived visit fee because he was 100% sure his diagnosis was correct and simply wanted to prove his point so that we could get immediate attention before my dog died of shock from the pus from her pyrometra. He is a great doctor, I honestly believe that he is passionate about his job, truly cares about the animals, and does the best he can. Read Less

My 5 pound dog was attacked by a coyote shortly after they opened. He was so compassionate to my dog and myself. He gave my dog a pain shot with out even giving a dime to him... He eventually operated on... And saved my baby's life. I went to him again this Friday... My dog had bad stomach pains and was crying with diarrhea. Without expensive lab tests and X-rays he put him on a short IV with fluids and antibiotics, sent me home with medicine... And a fair bill, considering what he did. My dog is 500 % better all ready!! Don't go anywhere else!!! My Father has a Shepard/Husky Mix named Ruskie which he loves and one day a cat wandered into the backyard. A fight ensued and it wasn't until several days later, my Father realized that Ruskie had been injured severely. When I arrived poor Ruskie was near death. The cat had ripped open the area around his armpit exposing the bone and it became so infected the entire inner area of the leg was black. I rushed Ruskie to Friendly Animal Hospital, which was bout 40 mins from the house and we went there based on recommendations. My plan was to do what we could within what we could afford and in my mind, I assumed there was probably nothing that could be done. Dr. Tran looked at him and came up with a plan to save the leg. It would take several months and a lot of work, but the leg and Ruskie could be saved. There needed to be an initial surgery and they charged me a very reasonable price. The dressing, then needed to be changed and treated daily. To save money the doctor sent over people from his staff to my father's home until I was comfortable enough to change it myself (Thanks Daniel!). As weeks passed and with the care and medication Dr. Tran provided Ruskie made a full recovery. My Father had suffered a major stroke a few years ago, so the loss of Ruskie would have been devastating. I would like to thank Dr. Tran and his entire staff for the friendly and caring demeanor during a very difficult time and thank you for saving Ruskie's life. Read Less

Visited Friendly Animal Hospital to have my dog vaccinated for rabies (good deal for $7). I was turned away because I told the front office person my dog was on medication (prednisone,cephalexin) and she said they would not be able to administer the vaccine, as it might make the dog sick. Wasted trip, ridiculous explanation. I went to my other vet the same day and he said there was no problem with my dog receiving the rabies vaccine. We are very pleased with our little mylo out come from last Friday when I took him in with a swollen face, they were very truth full on what needed to be done for the broken jaw mylo had.
