Dr. Lee has been fantastic with our rescue, Catalina for the past two years! He doesn’t sell what isn’t necessary and we feel no pressure. He gives great suggestions for us to try, like brushing her teeth, but not automatically offering us a dental examination. He is very kind and extra advice. We feel verybwell taken care of. After her free Spay from the rescue to this clinic, I thought we would try to find something closer to our home, but we have been very lucky at this clinic, even our appointment time starts on time. I've been a long time customer of Ladera Pet Clinic when it was owned by Dr. Himes and then Dr.  Lee. My pets have always received the best care there. The staff are fantastic; very friendly,  professional,  and caring.  Recently,  my 13 year old shih tzu, Dixon, developed bladder stones for the second time in 7 months.  My husband and I were really struggling with whether to have him undergo surgery a second time. Dr.  Lee did not perform his first surgery and the recovery process was very slow and extremely  painful. Dr.  Lee convinced us that Dixon had a strong chance of coming through a second surgery successfully and said if it was his dog,  he would elect the surgery. Dr.  Lee worked with our budget and performed the surgery with excellent results. Dixon's recovery was nothing like that the first time.  He was comfortable and healed beautifully. Thanks to Dr. Lee, Dixon has a new lease on life.  I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Lee and his staff.  If you love your pets, run don't walk to Ladera Pet Clinic. Your pets will thank you for it! Read Less

I switched here after going to Crenshaw Dog Cat Hospital (which I gave 1 star). You get 15% off your first visit which is great for first-time customers. The shots and medicine are much cheaper than other places and they even gave me multiple syringes with each dose already planned out so I didn't have to do it myself (which was super hard to do with a little puppy squirming everywhere). Clif, the Vet Tech is my all time favorite! I'd most definitely recommend this place. Read Less

My Samantha was treated by Dr. Himes and Dr. Lee at Ladera Pet Clinic for 18 1/2 years. I was truly amazed at how Dr, Lee was able to prolong Samantha's life because she dealt with some very serious life treating health issues on a number of occasions, for over a year. Believe the other reviews here saying this place is a scam. They make deals with rescue clinics for "free" checkups or spay/neuter. But when you try to schedule them they'll force you into all these extra appointments and procedures. I called to schedule the free neuter for my rescue and they claimed I would have to schedule two appointments and pay for both of them! I'm angry and sad for the rescue clinics that pay them up front for these deals. This clinic steals from them and the dogs they rescue. Also, they don't "do email" here. So if you care so little about your pet that you'll take them to a doctor who doesn't know how to work an email account, maybe this is the place to go. Read Less

We've been bringing our dogs here for 2 years now and I am very happy with the service. Dr. Lee loves his patients. I knew he was a good guy because our dogs never hesitate to go inside. He speaks to our dogs just like doctors speak to their patients. My husband and I had no idea we were supposed to get our dogs teeth deep cleaned which led our 10yr old dogs to having stage 4 doggy gum disease. DR. Lee said it was the worst he has seen in his entire career. We new it was bad when we went to another clinic in the area and they wanted to charge us $500 an hour to extract and deep clean with a minimum of 3-4 hours... just crazy. We first took our Yorkie to Dr. Lee. He was 10 at the time and we took him in one day because he was very lethargic.  he had surgery 6 days later. During the time he had surgery I was very nervous and worried. They called me right after he woke up and said to pick him up at 5pm. They extracted 17teeth and deep cleaned the few he had left. The next day our dog was barking, running, and eating hard food. One year later on 11/11/16 we took our beagle. Same thing happened with her activity decreasing and we were able to get an appointment one day after calling in. Everyone in the clinic could not believe how bad her teeth were. We felt embarrassed but now I use it as an educational tool to all pet owners I know. The beagle did so great. When I picked her up she still had blood on her mouth, but Dr. Lee assured me that was good bleeding and to give it time. Well, here we are today, 3 days post op and my beagle is running laps around the house, something she hasn't done in years! Taking your pet in for surgery is definitely a scary thing, but Dr. Lee did very well with both of our dogs and I am sure he added years on to their life. Thank you Ladera Pet Clinic, Ozzie and Layla love you all! Read Less

Let me start and close with saying this: This guy Dr Lee is AWFUL! If you love your pet, DO NOT bring them here! I don't know where to start with this place.... I was told from my rescue, to wait 6 months to neuter my dog since he was considered a small breed. They gave me a voucher for this procedure to this clinic. I called this clinic in the 6th month and they didn't have an availability that worked for me for another 6 weeks. I took that appointment which would make my dog 8 months old at the time of his neuter. When I initially called for this appointment, they tried to up-sell me with all of these shots and blood work which my dog did NOT need. I asked questions and got all the facts straight and he told me, that I would have to pay for the office visit of $25. When I got there, they told me the voucher was no longer valid, and since my dog was over 6 months, there would be an additional $50 fee for this procedure. The Vet Technician gave me a quote of the low and high costs. The low being 90 some dollars, and the high, being nearly 200 dollars. I didn't understand why this price because when I called the guy said I would only be paying for the office visit. Apparently, that cost is only to snip them. Not to put provide antibiotics during the process, nor pain killers to take home (I CALL BS!)  When I was told this, I asked repeatedly to speak with the DR, but he kept on sending in his Tech and wouldn't speak with me directly. He made me call the rescue group to get a current voucher since mine was expired, and I had to fight on the phone explaining the issue, resulting in the rescue paying the additional $50 (being over 6 months) fee. Apparently, when i got there to pick up my dog they didn't do such a great job for my dogs surgery and for some reason there was unusual redness and swelling. My thoughts are he purposely did a botch job on my dog since I wasn't up-sold on his BS costs. I swear, if he gets sick from this there will be hell to pay!I have 5 animals now, I have been a foster to shelters and rescue groups throughout So Cal for nearly 10 years and I have never seen such unprofessionalism at a Veterinary Clinic. If I had known ANY of this information prior, I would have gone elsewhere. This guy is AWFUL! If you love your pet, DO NOT bring them here! Read Less

We just got an 8 week old Cocker puppy and were immediately greeted by Karina the vet receptionist! She was sweet and extremely helpful and made my puppy feel comfortable and loved. Dr. Lee was great he looked my pup over, cleaned her ears (cockers are prone to ear infections) and expressed concern about getting a fecal test done to rule out any parasites, which they would give me the results by today. I got the call about 10 minutes ago and I am happy to report that she is free of parasites and is a happy healthy pup! Will definitely make this place my vet because I like how there is only one vet and limited staff, so my puppy isn't around so many different and new people. They are friendly, resourceful and care about your pet. Read Less

If I could give no stars, I would do that.  This place is a complete rip-off.  My daughter and I brought our new puppy here for a "free" check-up (arranged for by the shelter from which we got the dog).  Big mistake!  This "Dr" is all about over-treatment--anti-biotics immediately (before even knowing what the problem is), giving the dog IV fluids (our Dog was fine when he came in, had eaten and had plenty of water to drink in the morning), designer foods to replace the dry food we have been giving him.  All because we brought in a loose stool sample.  But, here is the worst part--they removed the dog from the exam room, put him in a cage while we waited in the room, where he cried for a good 5-minutes.  At this point, I decided that enough was enough. I confronted the very nice woman at the front and asked for our dog back.  I was listening to the people in the adjoining room, who also had a dog from the same shelter.  Amazingly, that dog was about to get the same exact treatment.  So much for the "free" introductory visit--this visit was about to get really expensive.  Even worse, however, this vet. was going to treat our dog regardless of what was really needed--and out of our sight at that.  Please, do not bring your dog to this place.  The two individuals I met who were not Dr. Lee were lovely--but Dr. Lee is up-selling.  Those who reviewed him here who say he does not up-sell couldn't have been seeing the same vet.  Stay away! We love Dr. Lee!  We found a homeless kitten and, after a negative experience with another vet, we took her to see Dr. Lee.  Madeline had a severely distended abdomen and we were very worried about her, especially after the 1.5 week delay with the other vet.  Dr. Lee examined her thoroughly, did a few tests, and diagnosed her within an hour.  He prescribed two medicines and a special diet, and within a week she was dramatically improved.  Her follow-up visits were so reasonably priced I'm not even sure how he stays in business.  And his staff is SO NICE!  Today, two months later, Madeline is a healthy happy kitty playing and snuggling with her adopted older brother, Mowgli. The staff here is great!!! Dr. Lee really cares about his patients and doesn't try to upsell everything like a lot of veterinarians do.  They are one of the lowest vets for dental cleaning with anesthesia when I was calling around for my pets.  All prices are pretty competitive and don't seem to gouge pet owners like other offices. My frequent visits came once I found out that my dogs liver was failing. I had to leave my dog overnight multiple times when she needed an IV and they call every morning and night to give you updates on her condition which makes a worrying paw-rent feel at east (as much as possible).  Dr. Lee gave her 3 months to live and gave me the option of euthanization which was NOT an option for me.   I decided we would fight, and with the help of Ladera Pet Clinic, I got almost 5 months with my baby before I had to put her down.  The staff and Dr. Lee was very caring during this time.  I will continue to bring my pets here b/c I am confident in the doctor and the staff.  The only down side is there is one doctor and only 2 examination rooms, so sometimes the wait can be frustrating but they open 6 days a week and have stayed late when I needed to come pick up my dog after work.  On a postive note:  I got a new puppy Corgi and I've started taking him to Ladera pet clinic and although he'll never replace my dog who passed, he's giving me new memories to take along with me in this journey of life!! My husband and I were so impressed with Dr Lee and his staff- we really can't say enough good things!  We adopted a puppy and got our free first visit through the shelter we adopted from.  Dr Lee and Juan were thorough and answered all my questions.  I felt very comfortable taking our little puppy here.  I called a couple days later and talked to Corrinna who was so patient and knowledgable- I appreciated her answering all my questions as a first time dog mum.Unfortunately, due to the place where the puppy was picked up before going to the rescue, we found out a few days later that our puppy had contracted parvo.  After a terrible experience with a vet hospital in Pasadena, my husband made the drive across town to Ladera.  We visited our puppy nightly for the next 5 nights and spent a lot of time with the staff there. Everyone we encountered was so caring and Dr Lee was detailed, thorough, and very upfront about the virus and typical chances for survival.  Staff gave us regular updates on our puppy and we felt like we (us and of course our dog) were very well cared for.Unfortunately for us, the puppy did not make it and we learned that he had contracted distemper from one of his litter mates before being taken to the rescue.  As sad as we are to have lost our little guy, I know that for the staff there, this is more than a job.  They understood how much their care for our puppy (and towards us) meant to us and showed so much compassion.  For that we will be forever grateful!  We will love a little pup again and when we do, we will happily take them across town to Ladera. Just adopted a rescue puppy whose adoption fee included a free exam by Dr. Lee at Ladera Pet Clinic. Very good experience--small office on Centinela has a long green curb in front, parking no problem. VERY kind and attentive lady at the front desk, friendly and well-informed and helpful. Dr Lee seemed smart and experienced, had good advice for a first-time dog owner. The vet tech guy who does the actual bloodwork etc was also very nice and forthcoming with conversation and advice. My puppy has kennel cough, and they called me the next morning to see how she was doing, and patiently explained in great detail the rather intimidating sequence of vaccinations and bloodwork that need to be done, in what order, before she can be spayed, what happens when, etc. Really set me at ease, and kindly looked after me and my little girl. I really appreciate the follow-up call which was not just a cursory check in, but about a 20 minute conversation with lots of details. At no point did anyone try to sell me anything whatsoever. I went to this clinic to have my dog spayed. They did the surgery and sent me home with a plastic cone to keep her from biting at the incision site, and told me not to remove it for 10-14 days. Well about a week later the cone I got from them cut up my baby's neck so badly. Now I had to bring her to another vet and will be giving her antibiotics and ointment for the next two weeks to take care of this cut caused by this sharp uncomfortable plastic cone that ladera sold me. All of which cost me another $247 to take care of this. Other times I have been here the doctor weirds me out and always tries to sell me on paying for all these extra things that my dog never needs. And he always acts as though it is necessary that I buy these things but in reality the only reason he thinks my dog needs them is so that he can make his rent money.I will never be coming back here.

Read Less
