The office is located across from College of Marin. It's name is Family Animal Hospital. Thinking "How appropriate". My dear friend who suggested this vet has my dog's sister. The condition I was concerned about treating was her periodontal disease. Only a year ago 3 lower back teeth had to be extracted because food found a pocket and was stuck between the gum and molars. Decay smells and the bad breath intensified. long story short I should have taken her to the vet in a more timely manner. A dental cleaning could have maybe saved her teeth.Dr. Ninon Kafka did this and that. The first 1/2hr was spent on computer looking up travel rules and regulations for Hawaii . I already had info and had it taken care of. Then because she wasn't fixed, the next 1/2 hr was spent defending myself. She intensely berated me and scheduled the surgery in 2 days the estimated cost almost $1000.Next, blood tests, shots, weight, heartworm med, flea/tick, On and on and on... --Now the devastating damage./grand total $$ 766.57.  WHAT??(I Paid her  instead instead of my rent.  The shock numbed mydability to respond or process what was happening.I felt out of control , confused, steamrolled.on top of it - She never examined HER TEETH!!!.At the end of the day, I cancelled the hysterectomy and asked to return the heartworm med and flea treatment. $280 dollars worth. Dr. Kafka fired me. And NO! NO RETURNS!!unopened, perfect condition.  NOHer fleshy arm waved across the shelf holding the medical charts " How many do you think aren't fixed? We went to Family Animal Hospital about six years ago when our then-vet wasn't able to isolate the cause of our dog's illness. Dr Kafka's hands-on approach and encyclopedic knowledge of canine biology are both impressive and reassuring. Our dogs love visiting their vet! Her staff is also proficient and personable. All our dogs have been/are rescues of indeterminate breed and still Family Animal Hospital is able to figure out their quirks and help us keep them healthy.Read Less
