We have been using Dr. Montana for over 13 years with several dogs and cats. Her staff is the very best right now and they all are wonderful. Hula and Ruger love everyone there. I would not trust anyone else with our furry kids at Lake Tahoe or the Truckee area. Dr. Montana has been with us thru very happy times and sad times. She continues to want the best for all.THANK YOU!

It is hard for me to say why exactly this gets 5 stars. There is so much compassion and caring flowing throughout this establishment. The vet assistants and Dr. Montana and even the pet owner's I've come across in passing are absolutely wonderful. The team are all so thoughtful, caring and truly the best for my two girls. I own a 2 year old golden retriever who's a little crazy but sweet as hell and an 11 year old yellow Lab who can easily be described as the best dog ever, she unfortunatley is succumbing to lymphoma. Doctor Montana and her crew have thought of everything and have helped us to the process of getting a puppy, a tplo knee surgery for Riley, an UTI for Ruby, chemo for Riley and various other wellness and incidents. No matter how many times that had to poke my old girl for iv's she still wagged her happy tail at the crew and was never apprehensive to go there. Having a pet is expensive but doctor Montana and her crew understand that we all don't necessarily have money to throw at every issue and do their best to provide the guidance that provides the best-case scenario for our beloved pets.

Bev K. We were in an emergency situation with our 5 year old Catahoula. Dr. Montana and all the staff were very caring & compassionate, and her professional "instinct" about what could be wrong, turned out to be 'right on'! We began a course of treatment, which she will need for the rest of her life, but we have our Indy girl back, & spunky as ever! WHEW!! THANKS to Dr. Bree Montana & Staff.

Dr. Montana is a loving, caring knowledgeable vet! I live in Tahoe part time, but always get my dog's annual exam here. Free Vaccines for Life is a great program. Dr. Montana accommodates me having two vets and will share information. She doesn't push for treatment only at her office. I recommend her highly.

Great hospital with great staff. 5 stars for Dr Montana. Yelp wants me to write more so I will add that the Free Vaccines for Life program is an awesome offer for anyone living in Tahoe. Don't know why yelpers below are complaining- it saves you hundreds and hundreds of dollars on vaccines throughout your dog/cats life...

New reviewer- long time Tahoe native, speaking here. I've tried a number of Vets in our area and will NEVER go anywhere else! My dog was diagnosed with cancer, and the vet I was seeing recommended I just pick a time to let my beloved go! I sought a second opinion at Davis, and they recommended Dr Montana. She worked out a chemotherapy treatment plan (surgery and chemo), and kept my baby going for YEARS. I can never thank her enough for her compassion and incredible dedication to my dog. Yes- great medical care is not free. I would also say that having a Doctor that is available to me even on a Sunday is priceless!! I also want to say that my daughter has started taking her cat to Dr Montana~ she has pretty tight finacial issues, and Dr Montana has found a way to get her kitty spayed at NO cost, and to keep her vaccine costs down as well...so I am so VERY appreciative to have this amazing lady in our town. She is a jewel!

I brought my very sick dog there because at the time it was the only vet available.Dr. Montana was practicing for a show with her horse in Carson City and got off and drove to the clinic to tend to my dog.She then told us if our dog does not show signs of improving she would not ride in the show the following day but stay here with our dog.She stayed.Unfortunately our dog passed away the next day after we had him get a blood transfusion (Dr. Montana arranged that inside of 60 minutes).Dr.Montana was so concerned about what actually happened that she did an autopsy at her expense.We now know what happened as opposed to wondering.About a month later we received a card in the mail that said Dr.Montana had made a donation in our dogs name.Sad to read the other reviews.We think she is a very caring vet.

I would not recommend Agate Bay Animal Hospital. There are a few other veterinary hospitals in the region that give better value for the money.

I am pleased to hear one person had a good experience, but I guarantee that most will not at Agate Bay. The vets are not confident.If you do decided to go in there, be prepared, do some research and if they tell you your dog needs a dental...get a second opinion. The dentals, I think, are a way to add on eight hundred dollars. Compare prices. If you have an emergency, don't let them give you an option to euthanize your pet if you can't pay a bill. Go elsewhere. My dog was injured by a car and they would not even give him a pain injection until they saw cash in their hands. We need someone to open an emergency clinic in tahoe. Also, none of the nurses are experienced or licensed. A former kennel person told me this. Illegal stuff goes on there.

I love my pets and hate to hear anyone has had a bad experience here, but I am so grateful to Agate Bay Vet Hospital. I have an old cat that my old vet told me to put down because she had bad kidneys. I found this hospital and yes, I spent some money here, but since diagnosing kidney disease almost a year ago, my cat has never felt better! She jumps to her spot on the window sill, cleans herself in the sun and snuggles with me at night. Medicine is not free, even for humans - I know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and talk about REAL medical bills. Dr. Montana saved my cat's life, and I am so grateful.

After trusting my loving dog with this vet I was so angry, dissapointed and very upset. Please save yourself the heartache/headaches and find another vet. Dr. Montana should not be in business.

We have been using Dr. Montana for over 13 years with several dogs and cats. Her staff is the very best right now and they all are wonderful. Hula and Ruger love everyone there. I would not trust anyone else with our furry kids at Lake Tahoe or the Truckee area. Dr. Montana has been with us thru very happy times and sad times. It is hard for me to say why exactly this gets 5 stars. There is so much compassion and caring flowing throughout this establishment. The vet assistants and Dr. Montana and even the pet owner's I've come across in passing are absolutely wonderful. The team are all so thoughtful, caring and truly the best for my two girls. Dr. Montana and all the staff were very caring & compassionate, and her professional "instinct" about what could be wrong, turned out to be 'right on'! New reviewer- long time Tahoe native, speaking here. I've tried a number of Vets in our area and will NEVER go anywhere else! My dog was diagnosed with cancer, and the vet I was seeing recommended I just pick a time to let my beloved go! I sought a second opinion at Davis, and they recommended Dr Montana. I have an old cat that my old vet told me to put down because she had bad kidneys. I found this hospital and yes, I spent some money here, but since diagnosing kidney disease almost a year ago, my cat has never felt better!
