I’m am ( Disgusted ) by far the worst place to take you family member! I am reposting to bring awareness and to insure ( Dr. Shenouda ) Apologizes IN PERSON to this FAMILY! On 11/9/17 I checked my happy, healthy & very loved 11 year old shihtzu named Dazy in to La Habra Animal Hospital & Pet Motel (on the corner of La Habra & Monte Vista) for boarding. I went to Virginia for the weekend, just a short 3 day weekend trip. Not even 24 hours later on 11/10/17 at 7pm Dr. Herrick called me to tell me that an employee broke protocol by leaving my dog outside to use the bathroom unattended. Dazy slipped out through their broken gate, she was hit by a car and killed. I found out after that they were fully aware their gate was broken, an employee admitted they’ve been having problems with their gate for a while. I also found out that Dazy got out and was killed at 5pm. It took them 2 hours to even notify me she was missing! The owner of the hospital, Dr. Shenouda, didn’t even call me and they refused to give me his number so I could speak with him. They knew I was going to be there the following Monday to pick up Dazy’s body. When I arrived at opening no one was there to speak with me- not the owner, not a manager, not even a vet. I demanded the receptionist call the owner and tell him to come in. He still didn’t show, they sent in a manager who wasn’t even there that night and couldn’t offer me any details. I had to go back to the hospital 3 times that day to speak to the owner. My dog was not sick, she was not there for treatment. All they had to do was keep an eye on her and feed her for 3 days and she didn’t even last 1 full day there. I truly feel that no one’s precious pets are safe here. If this is how they treat animals during boarding (literally the most simple task to get paid for), I can’t even imagine how they are treating animals who are sick. *Please note: they claimed they have fixed their gate since this happened, but all they did was wrap a leash around it to tighten it. As far as I know, they have not hired anyone to perform a proper gate repair. I am sharing my story this in case you do use this hospital or in case you were planning to. I would want to know something like this before bringing my pets in. The devastation and emotional distress I have endured because of their carelessness should never happen to anyone else. Im sharing to warn others about this facility. I boarded my sweet, happy and healthy 11 year old shih tzu here on 11/9/17 before flying out of the state. Not even 24 hours later on 11/10/17 Dr. Herrick called to inform me that an employee broke protocol and left my baby girl outside unattended knowing they have a broken gate. My dog was hit by a car and killed. They waited 2 hours before even calling to tell me she had been missing, they searched for her without a picture. I could have provided that if they called me right away. I’m devastated by this loss and how they have handled this. I truly believe your precious pets are not safe here. I live in La Habra and I flew to Virginia for a wedding, just a short weekend trip. This week I rescued a tiny kitten who was stuck inside our outdoor bbq grill. She hadn’t had her shots yet & I knew boarding would be tough with that situation. This vet said they would board her with no problem. Relieved, I made a reservation to also board my 11 year old shih tzu named Dazy so they would be at the same place. I dropped them both off on 11/9/17 & I received a call from the vet... on 11/10 to tell me they had lost my beloved dog and she had been missing for 2 hours. I immediately called friends in the area to help search for her. I called the vet every hour for an update, the staff was rude and unapologetic for their mistake. My friend drove by the vet to see what progress they had made and instead of searching they were just standing outside. She spoke to them and they showed her where she slipped out of their backyard. They admitted to knowing that their backyard gate was broken and had gaps. Knowing this, they still let her outside unattended. 5 hours later I received the news that she had been hit by a car and had passed. My friend walked around the neighborhood asking people if they had seen her, one kind woman admitted she had seen her get hit by a car at 5pm and moved her to the sidewalk. Now knowing this, the vet did not contact me until 7pm and I have no doubt they knew the situation all along. This happened at La Habra Animal Center & Motel on 741 W La Habra Blvd. They need to be held accountable for what they’ve done. Dazy was more than a pet, she was my best friend and a special part of our family. I have had her since she was a puppy and I am devastated by this loss. For the past 11 years I did everything I could to make sure she had the best life, my biggest regret is trusting this vet and his staff. They reassured me she would be safe during the 3 days I was gone, and they couldn’t do that. My heart is broken and my life will never be the same without her. I need everyone to hear my story so they know not to make the same mistake I did by trusting this vet. No ones pets are safe here, not for an hour, a day, a weekend, or ever. #JUSTICEforDAZY my sweet love dog, you were loved so hard by so many. I miss you dearly and my heart aches for you. They took amazing care of our blaze and they really did all they could to keep our boy comfortable and calm. He had to have surgery and it is nerve racking for everybody but we felt so good leaving him here! Love this place! Read Less

Took our cat in because she was acting very strange the last week & im very glad we chose here , super close to our home. Everyone there is super nice & took care of our cat like it was their own , we are happy to know our cat was getting the right treatment & in good hands , if anyone needs a place to go I definitely recommend here . I brought my baby girl in because she was having skin problems and was balding in certain areas on her back. The vet that we worked with was knowledgeable and informed us on how we can get my baby better.They gave us a list of medication that she would need, but I only said okay to 2 out of 4 of them. The other two were available for a fraction of the cost-- online. Two months later, she's doing great and coat has been replenished! Read Less

I took my first rescue cat here for neuter. They were decent enough at a mildly ok price.     A couple years later, I had another rescue cat that had some sort of flea or tick problem and they wanted to charge $400 for a 30 visit w a follow up. We negotiated price to what I could afford at the time to $200.  During the follow up visit, I was advised the cat needed surgery to remove about an inch of vertebrae from his tail which he would give a huge discount down to $440.    I took my chances and amazingly, my second cat's tail healed on its own. No surgery required at all. I felt like I was being milked for money and surgeries my cat didn't need. That is no way to run a pet clinic. If you use this place, I wish you good luck. Most there are nice and caring, but some will make excuses for unnecessary treatments. To be that is criminal. I will not be back. Read Less

If I could give 0 stars I would. My sister took her kitty to this place to get him neutered and the cat never made it back home. We're still crying ourselves out since this afternoon. He was a healthy cat less than a year old with no medical problems or any condition. The doctor called her and told her he starting having seizures after the surgery and died. When she got the this place he said that it was heart failure since there was blood in the trachea tube which it doesn't have anything to do with the heart ( when that happens it's because the tied it too hard, it's like a person when they get surgery) His pupils started to dilate and died. My cousin who lives in Miami is a vet and she said that this kind of surgery is so easy and simple that there is no way a cat will die for this. This is the doctors fault for not giving him the correct amount of anesthesia or the incorrect anesthesia. Nothing we could do will bring him back. I came her for a pet emergency with our pekingese. He had a bad accident with his eye and another dog attacking him. Upon arrival, it was easy and quick for my dog to be seen. The staff was nice, and the vet was sweet and attentive to my dog. All in all, it was good experience. I was just a little concerned when they'd take my dog in the back and do some of the injections since I don't know what is actually happening and if he's getting proper care. Read Less

Went in at 2-4-16 my dog was going into labor they were taking action so fast they took my dog into emergency c-section and saved her life & the puppies! I'm so happy and relieved! This will change many years to come! Read Less

They have been very fair in their prices, and Dr. Markos has an excellent bedside manner. She took time to call me on the phone before my dog's procedure to explain what to expect. Then after the procedure, she came out to speak with me in the lobby to tell me how it went & answer any questions. I received an email thanking me for taking my dog there, which is a nice touch. We recently were informed that our little 6 month old pomeranian Jasmine had a Luxating Patella on her right rear leg. We took her several places and were quoted prices that we couldn't afford being on a fixed income. I went online and researched and came across this facility, we live two hours away but decided to make the drive. We are so glad we did!!! Dr. Sam who is the surgeon is so very experienced and caring and explained the whole procedure thoroughly with us, helped me feel at ease. Fernando helped us with everything, I had so many questions and concerns, plus he has been taking great care of Jasmine after the surgery. The office staff called and followed up with us and kept us informed while she was recooperating and too are very caring and knowledgable. We need to bring her back a few more times to make sure all is going well and I definately do not mind as I know she is in good hands with them at La Habra Animal Hospital. We highly recommend this vetinarian and his staff for the care, expertise and compasion they have and give to all the pets. Read Less

I recently discovered this hospital it looks small from the outside but it is very nice from the inside it looks recently remodeled. The same girl is usually there in the reception she is very nice and knows alot about animals. The doctor seems very nice and i could tell he is very experienced...Strongly recommend this Vet to anyone who wants a good Vet. Read Less
