I know I'm not the only person the staff needs to attend to, but when I arrived 15 minutes before my appt I wasn't even greeted. I then waited 20 minutes before I was even spoken to, and I just think the visit was terrible, I felt as if I was bothering them.. I manage stores for a grocery chain, and if my employees didn't greet my customers, they wouldn't be working. I will be going somewhere else from now on. I normally hate switching Dr's offices, but I can't spend money where I'm not even greeted. And the staff arent very people friendly. Good luck to the rest of your patients. Read Less

Today marks 2 years since Dr. Davis took care of an emergency surgery for our Great Dane karma... it was during thanksgiving and left home to come take care of this emergency... we are eternally grateful for the Fuerte team... karma was back to her happy Dane self in no time... our 2 other fur kids have been treated there as well with no issues... my mom's Chihuahua had a run in with a speeding car and Dr Davis worked a miracle on her too! I've been here a couple times, mostly in urgent care situations. I've never seen the same vet more than once, so I can't speak to the high pressure stuff I see other people have written. For me it's been all good. Seen quickly, open on weekends, good communication with the vets. I haven't shopped their prices, but it is an animal hospital not a standard vet.Read Less

During the past year the entire staff at Fuerte Animal Hospital has been wonderful. After diagnosing Serge with Congestive Hear Failure and referring us/him to a cardiologist who prescribed a life saving/extending medication, we have enjoyed an extra year we would not ave had otherwise. Fuerte Animal Hospital saved our Dachshund's life. Another vet in town told us there was nothing we could do and that he would not last much longer. Luckily, our normal vet's office was closed when the time came to say farewell. We arrived at Fuerte Animal Hospital to say our farewell, but after examining our dog, the vet thought that there was still hope and referred to a specialist. I took my new shelter kittens to Fuerte Animal Hospital for their 1st exam because they were on the list for El Cajon Animal Shelter. Fuerte Animal Hospital pressured me into getting initial shots for my kittens but they charged me more than double what my old vet charges for the same vaccinations. I called my old vet for my previous cats to compare the price I was charged for vaccinations for my new kittens. I will be returning to my old vet (who is not on the list but provides exceptionally good care and advice), and I recommend that anyone considering Fuerte Animal Hospital check out their prices first because they pressure pet owners into getting services that are not included by the El Cajon Animal Shelter and charge way too much to make up for no payment for the initial exam visit per Animal Shelter rules. I asked why they were on the list and they told me that they are on the list only to get new customers. So they persuaded me to get the vaccinations from them. It cost $160 for 2 kittens for the first of 3 sets of vaccinations. The next 2 visits would be more because they would include an exam charge as well Read Less

My puppy wolverine has been here several times now for shots and various check ups and absolutely loves the staff. My husband and I like the staff as well since they talk to us like regular people instead of ignoring us or talking down to us like we've had in the past. Wolverine gets excited every time he's in the waiting room because he loves his friends at Fuerte :) We also appreciated that they offered to clip his nails for cheaper than Petco!
