I want to applaud Miguel Espinosa and the entire staff at the Pet Hospital of LA Mesa. There is so much uncertainty when you look online for a veterinary. You hear horror stories and places that charge exuberant prices. I have been going to Espinosa now for 12+ years. I drive to La Mesa from the coast because I know I'm going to get honest service at a reasonable price. I can't say enough good things about the entire staff. Read Less

I have a dog that just had puppies and one of them was born with all sorts of issues, the worst of which was being born with no diaphram..poor little thing was born at 3am and I was already waiting outside the door for about 10 minutes before they opened. I went in bawling my eyes out holding this tiny puppy that just never had a chance. The vet took me back right away and told me my options, but informed me that putting her down would be the most humane thing to do. He informed me of all the problems that she would face if I opted for surgery and ultimately she would have had a severely shortened lifespan as well as not having the quality of life that most dogs have. I was heart broken but ultimately I made the right choice and they helped me to understand and make the choice that saved her from a (short) lifetime of suffering. Dealing with crying clients I'm sure is never easy but they handled it with ease. I've taken other pets there for general care, spaying and neutering and I will continue to go there for the quality care that they provide. Read Less

AVOID! having Dr.Diana Deckert, I believe in second chances and someone having a bad day but I wish I had listened to my gut after my first appointment with her. Her bedside manner is nonexistent, I felt put down as a pet owner which was a perfect transition into me purchasing everything she recommended (I did, I love my pet I trust a doctor). When I came in again two months later she asked me about concerns I had the pervious visit, only none of the things she asked me about were concerns I had, she tried suggesting more of the medication hinting at the age of my dog as a selling point, insinuating twice, that his life span was almost up so some things wouldn't be necessary anyway (I have an older dog, but healthy and mobile). No pet owner should have to listen to that, after my second visit, mid-visit, I knew I would not be returning; telling her I would think about her (600 dollar) suggestions she gave me a look like I had wasted her time and walked out of the room without a goodbye or thank you or direction if I should leave or stay. Not that I should defend myself, but I am aware that doctors deliver news you might not want to hear, but the second visit with her was filled with blatant disdain and eyerolls at my concerns, not to mention the reason why I came, wasn't addressed. When I got to the car I was so frustrated I cried, not okay. I hate to give a star rating because my dog has gone here for over ten years and vets previous to this were great, and we have had great experiences but unfortunately after today we will most likely not be returning to this pet hospital.Read Less
