This place is WONDERFUL. They are worth the 13 mile drive for me and my 2 dogs. Dr. Raymond goes that extra step to make sure we are happy. He will explain not only what, but also the why's and how's of ANY circumstance or question you may have. He will never make you feel like just a number as the other places will do. I have been coming here for 10 years, and I've also had my mom, and 2 of my neighbors start using Amar Glen for all their veterinary care also. It is so important to TRUST your vet. We rescue and foster and we previously were going to a different vet but we were at risk of not being able to continue because of cost. Everything we do is out of pocket so the fact that they provide services at almost half the cost of other places and are always willing to work with us to make sure we can continue doing what we do is priceless in my book. Yes the wait can be a little long sometimes but at the end of the day that is a testament to their service. The doctors are great and very personable and i can always trust that they are going to give me the advice that is best for our pets rather than making the most amount of money. I went to this place for their low cost neuter prices while they were at their old location. I was quoted a price and when it came time to pay they charged me a higher price? I almost cried cos i couldn't afford it at the time thinking they were going to impound my dog lol but it was a mistake in their end and they fixed it immediately. I brought my dog here to get neutered because it had the best prices in my area as well as good reviews. Since then I have been bringing my dog here regularly for vaccines and checkups and I am very pleased with the service. The wait time isn't too bad either considering everything is first come first serve (aside from spaying/neutering). My only complaint is that the guy who trims the dogs' nails is a little unnecessarily aggressive. Aside from the grooming, I'd definitely recommend this vet! Read Less

Thank you so much to this veterinarian for taking care of my fur baby! So, after an incident at an incompetent grooming station at PetSmart, my German shepherd pup had a limp in his paw and was throwing up blood. I already knew that this vet visit was going to be expensive, so I did my research and found Amar Glen Veterinary Hospital. The previous good reviews were 100% correct, this is an awesome veterinary clinic! Yes, the wait was long (maybe an hour), but the doctor I saw didn't try to push any unnecessary procedures or medications on my dog. Although I was panicking because my dog was so hurt, he was straight forward with me and made an accurate diagnosis after looking at my dog and running a quick test to test for the worst case scenario, which would have been a case of Parvo. My dog's Parvo test thankfully came back negative, and after prescribing two types of medication, the doctor told me to just return back in two days if my puppy wasn't feeling better. Well it's been only 24 hours and my pup is feeling amazing! I can tell he's coming back to his old self and the medicine is really helping. On top of all this, the girls who work at the front desk are so nice, and so are the people in the waiting room. Maybe it's just the area, but everyone who had their pets with them was so friendly and talkative, it really made the wait go by faster. Also, I was expecting to pay upwards of $300+, but my total bill for the exam, medicine and tests were less than $70. My old vet would have charged 4x this price for the same diagnosis, so I am glad I found this veterinary office! I'm giving 5 stars yes the wait is long, but remember this is a clinic. The staff is efficient and friendly. Dr Raymond was great, I brought my 1 week old puppy thinking his mommy accidentally stepped on him. I was worried it was broken and expecting to have x-rays and high vet bill. To my surprise everything was reasonable no x-rays and no break. As for Dr. Raymond his bedside manner was excellent. Can't thank him enough. I definitely recommend. Read Less

First of all, the new location has greatly changed everything!The clinic has moved across the street from their previous location and the accommodations have increased greatly. Originally, there wasn't much room for anyone - even worse for the animals that get brought in! It was super cramped and not exactly comfortable. Now, the new location is comfortable and even has a bigger yard in front for all of the animals to get a chance to stretch their legs!Parking is a bit of an issue - there are a few parking spaces but if you don't get there early, you'll get stuck with street parking. It's not too big of an issue because there's a residential street next to the clinic but I know some people don't particularly enjoy the idea of parking in the street!The staff is nice and try their best to get everyone's needs met. You need to have patience because there are only 3 exam rooms. A majority of the time, a vet assistant will take care of all the simple appointments - this makes the wait real fast. If you are planning to have a one on one with the doctors, you might end up waiting a lot longer.Additionally, they don't make appointments. It is a first come, first serve basis. They tell you when you next appointment is but it is up to you to actually maintain it! The plus is that they are open on Saturday but like I said, you gotta get there early if you don't want to be stuck waiting about!Overall, very happy with their changes! Read Less

Been coming here for my cats for a long  time now...at least 15 years. They have always been courteous and seem to care for the animals they treat. They explain what's going on with your animal as well as treatments options available. They don't schedule appointments so wait times might vary. Their website says 8:30am but their Yelp says 9:00am so my boyfriend and I decided to get there early just in case. They opened up at 9:00am and my boyfriend was the 3rd person to sign in. I'm waiting outside with our kitten and more people start coming in. Everyone that arrived after we did, got called before us. Around 9:20am they call my boyfriend over to verify the same address, phone number, etc. . . Around that same time I decided to go wait inside. 30 minutes roll by and after seeing more dogs get taken in, I decided to find out what the hold up was. The lady at the front desk says, "Oh. . . You're the one with the cat, right? You're actually next." The vet comes out and takes in another dog and the lady at the front desk just walks away. She comes back once the vet closes the door and  my boyfriend goes up to the front desk and ask the receptionist, "Is there any way I can schedule an appointment for Saturday because I need to drop off my girlfriend at school and I need to get ready for work." So she says, "This is a walk in only vet clinic so there aren't any scheduled appointments but we open at 8 am on Saturdays." If they don't accept walk ins, how do they operate their appointment system? Very unorganized. Thanks to them my kitten had to go back home with an eye infection and I was 30 minutes late to class. The staff was very nice, I could tell the nurse was new or in training but no problem we all gotta start somewhere. My kitty had an infected foot and had to get put to sleep for a cleaning and bandage. They took great care of him, kept me well informed and did the procedure with a week of meds for just under 200$ which I though was reasonable considering the infection. The only problem I have with this place is the CLEANLINESS.. The triage room was disgusting, splatters of who knows what all over the chest of drawers which were also caked in dust and hair balls. I couldnt tell which was dirtier the floors that looked like they only got cleaned once a month or the walls that looked like they hadn't been wiped down since the place opened. There was an air purifier in the corner that was doing the exact opposite of what its intended to do simply because it had dust chunks stuck to the filter. When I came to pick up my baby, he was covered in what looked like dust and a white powder plus I didn't see one employee was their hands once after touching any animals! I will never go back to this vet clinic again. This place is not what it used to be. I took my pup one day after he stopped eating and had a bit of diarrhea. He tested positive for parvo. On that same day another dog that was in worse conditions was also admitted. In the waiting room this dog vomited and bled on the wood floor. The owner cleaned the mess as best as she could with paper. We told the receptionist the dog had vomited and they did nothing to sterilize the area. People came in with dogs and my mom kept telling them not to sit there. Another lady told the receptionist she heard there was vomit residue on the floor. She said okay but we never saw anyone clean anything. My dog was there 3 days. His minor symptoms worsened. The dog that was in worse shape was in the kennel right next to my dog. On the third day we noticed they had been switched in each other's kennel. My dog was drenched in what they said was vomit. Later realizing his IV fluids had been leaking. How long he hadn't been receiving his fluids? We may never know. We told the vet and he became upset and defensive. He said he wouldn't charge us that day but to take our dog elsewhere. Up until recently I would've given this place 4 stars because of the wait time, no appointments, and the smells. Now if I could, I would give it 0. I took my 5 year old, healthy cat in to get groomed about three weeks ago. She gets shaved about every month or so usually by me or by petsmart but never gets bathed by anyone else but me because she freaks out. I specifically told the groomer not to bathe her for that reason and he said that it was fine. So I dropped her off at about 11:30 and the groomer told me they'd call me when she's done but that she'd be done by 3. So 3:30 comes around and I haven't heard anything so I decided to call them. They said she was ready and I could now pick her up. So I get there, briefly look at her haircut, approve, pay, and I'm off with my little darling. But not before the little pervert groomer got a good look at my chest (which was very obvious). As soon as I get home and let her out of her carrier, I realized she was stumbling as if she was drugged and her left eye's pupil was just a slither compared to her normally dilated right eye. So of course, I panic. I immediately called them and asked if they drugged or put her down for the haircut. They say hold on, let me get the groomer. When he finally gets on the phone and I explain what's going on, he says she was fine when I put her in her carrier, that's definitely not right, bring her in. So I take her in, I'm freaking out because all she got was a fucking haircut, and I've taken her to a groomer before but it was our first time dealing with this guy. They called us into a room and looked at my poor cat and l was frantic. The groomer was in the room trying to defend himself and was making really inappropriate comments and trying to make jokes when OBVIOUSLY it's not the right time. The doctor ended up asking him to leave.... but not before he made it a point to say that she was perfectly fine when he put her in her carrier. Like I messed her up in the ten minutes that I had her?? Because it only takes 10 minutes to get to my house from the damn vet... anyway, they said her ear drum had ruptured probably from the liquid they use to clean their ears. But that it was not his groomers fault because the groomer said he didn't stick the q-tip in my cats ears and he believes his groomer so this was probably a pre-existing condition and the liquid just intensified it. They said her eye and balance are affected so greatly by it because of all the eye nerves and equilibrium being connected to the ear drum. FUCKING BULLSHIT. SHE WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE I DROPPED HER OFF. I HAVE HAD HER FOR 5 YEARS AND NOT ONCE HAS SHE BEEN SICK OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SHINING EXAMPLE OF PERFECT FELINE HEALTH. I was furious but I was holding it in because I really just wanted my cat to get better and that was the most important thing to me at that moment. They gave her a shot, and sent me home with medication to give her. And yes, I still had to pay for their mistake. The doctor told me that since it wasn't their fault but it happened when she was there they'll give me a discount on the shot and medication. What the fuck ever. I just wanted to get out of there. The doctor also told me he'd call to check on her the next day but he never did. Her symptoms got somewhat better over the weekend but at one point her ears started oozing a very dark matter, and were bright red, and they were even bleeding a bit. And I was with her all weekend, she slept more than usual and didn't really eat. And she wasn't scratching so I know that's not why her ears were bleeding. I was instructed to bring her back on Monday after her medication was through and so I did. This time they told me she now has an ear infection. So now I had to pay for the medication for her ear infection and an ear cleaning and was told to bring her in again the following Monday. I don't care what they say, I know this was their fault and for them to just blow me off and tell me they believe their groomer over their customer? TERRIBLE. My poor cat has been suffering for the past three weeks. Only slightly improving little by little. One thing they do know is how to empty the customers wallet. THE GROOMER IS AN UNPROFESSIONAL PERVERT AND IS VERY OFF. I KNEW IT FROM THE SECOND I MET HIM. I SHOULD'VE LISTENED TO MY GUT INSTINCT AND NOT TRUSTED HIM. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAT TO GET GROOMED THERE AGAIN. I might not even go back at all. Bastards. Read Less

I read the reviews on yelp and thought it was impressive on the positive comments.  As soon as I drive up to the area, it was a dive, very gloomy.  It looked Horrible from the outside. It made me not wanna go in. Because of a last minute walk-in I didn't have a choice. I tried making an apptmt elsewhere but they were booked. This was my Last resort. The place was completely packed about 20 people before me.  Some owners didn't teach their dogs any manners as the owner let them constantly wine and bark plus peeing on the floor without taking them out in the waiting room. I wasn't happy with the place.  Everything was so out dated. I was stuck there for 1 1/2 waiting time. Another lady before me was there for 2 hrs. Before she was called in. That's just ridiculous to wait that long.  Only good thing was the staff and Docs were Super helpful and nice. The price was reasonably decent. I finally left after 2 1/2 hrs.  Due to their decent price, that'll only be the time otherwise, I don't see myself as a regular. Read Less

Took my 2 babies here for yearly vaccinations. First time at this clinic. They had their techs do the shots.. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad?Pros: Paperwork was easy to fill out. Fast service. Walk-ins welcomed. Low cost vaccination fees. Friendly staff. Cons: they need to sweep the floors from dog hairs and clean the pee stain/smells. Read Less

I live out of state but am staying here for the summer. I needed to get my puppy's third set of shots so on the advice of others, brought her here. I had read the Yelp reviews but trusted the word of the people I know personally. I'm glad I did. Yes, the place could use a facelift but it was staffed with very caring and attentive doctors and receptionists.In speaking with other patrons, they've been bringing their pets here for years and have been extremely satisfied with the service. I brought my puppy in as a walk in because she had got stung by a bee and her face was swelling. Even though they were busy (about 6 pet parents before me) they took us in within 35 minutes and Dr. de Villa was great. He made us feel at ease, answered all my questions and explained thoroughly... and he was a sense of humor too. I will be bringing my pets to them from now on. Read Less

1ST EXPERIENCE-I have been come here for the past 15 years with all my dogs(just for vaccinations) until, about 6 years ago, i had came in with my blue pit to get his ears clipped (which i would never ever do again, with any dog and dont recommond it to be done to any dog, no matter how nice you think they will look) i had the worst experience, first my dog's ears were clipped so short they were 1/2 inch long from the tip of his ear to his head, they looked so rounded out (like if he had no tip). i told the main doctor that his ear are so short and he responed with, the dog was just coming out of anesthesia and they were curled in and not relaxed. i paid $300 thinking i went to a proessional that knows what they are doing, i was so wrong. His ears stayed so short he looked like he had no ears. The pain he was in didnt help, it was my fault i took him to this vet and now my poor dog went throw pain for weeks and ended up with unappealing ears. 2nd experience- 4 years ago with my other dog (miniature schnauzer), well i brought him in as an emergancy (was attacked by another dog that was loose )and was helped right away, i didnt have the money and was given a number of a dog rescue/charity facitly. they helped pay half of my bill and this was a blessing in diquise. He was more injured then what the doctor though but was stil done the surgery with the price i was given. So at the end i had a very good experience and a very bad one. Read Less

I have been bringing all of my pets here since had my very first puppy- 30+ yrs ago! They have always provided great care, advice and understanding (in the hard times w/ sick animals I've had). I now have a 2 yr old teacup Yorkie and finally decided not to breed her since  she is so tiny and all of the health risks I've read about. Dr. Raymond was very understanding and answered all of my questions and made me feel more at ease with decision to have her spayed. She is healing very well. Popped one stitch, but as you can maybe tell in picture below.. even after extra staple added - she is still a happy camper! I brought my Golden here when he had a severe case of hot spots. The vet working was the woman, she was super friendly, professional, and her love for animals is genuine and evident! Since then i've brought him back an additional 3x for check-ups and annual shots. Aside from the Vet, the assistant aids are very friendly, and it was clear they love animals too! Reasonably priced considering the area...it oughta' be! I deducted a star simply because this place lacks cleanliness. The waiting area smells and lacks air flow which is a big no-no!!! Read Less

I have lived in the area my entire life and I love this vet. I have a chowchow and 2 mutts I have brought all three dogs in and have all been treated great. about a year ago we brought in my chowchow which is about 13 years old, it was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in its tail. the cancer ended up spreading all over its tail so the doctor had to cut it off the surgery was a success and the doctor actually did us a favor and remover another tumor which he had found during the surgery for no extra cost . the service is great and the doctor is a sweet heart to all animals. I Love this vet! For years my family went to another pet hospital but when it got bought out by someone else it got super expensive so we switched to this one. My mother is super picky too. :/ Drove us nuts looking for another vet. The inside is kinda old fashion looking, but thats just one of there charms. Feels homie when you walk in. All the employees are super friendly and they have always been great with our pets and we have a lot. We have never had trouble and we have been there a thousand times.
