I was skeptical at first and I'll admit I didn't have a first good visit considering I was left to wait 9 hours for a simple X-ray and it's completely understandable since they accidentally overbooked appointments. Every time we had to take our dogs there the staff was incredibly nice and extremely knowledgeable... they always called our dogs by their names. They never overcharged us for vaccinations and even when we had to do a very risky neutering for our Whippet... they knew the exact treatments that would be safe for a sighthound. I hate that we are so far away now and wish we could find an honest, knowledgeable, and friendly staff like Southern California Animal Hospital. If you live close consider yourselves lucky... it's a little in the boondocks but it's worth it to make the trip. Read Less

The employees here always work hard and care for the animals. Most importantly the doctor appears to be very sincere and caring and he wouldn't recommend something unless absolutely necessary for your pets well being. He is high in demand and he is always busy and that is a good sign to me, I just wish he would first bring another veterinarian to handle the load and second redecorate the office to a little more contemporary appearance, Neither of which has anything to do with the quality of the care that your pet receives here. We put my 12 year old Boston Terrier dog down due to her being extremely ill. When I called the office to price and ask for wait times they were super helpful. They showed compassion and advised me of no wait time. As soon as I arrived with my dog, they helped me right away.  Of course it was the worst feeling in the world to say goodbye to my dog but thanks to this clinic, they made it a lot easier. Office opened at 10am. I made it in the office to sign in at 10:01am. Little to my knowledge, I'd be waiting 1 HOUR AND A HALF just to get my pet inside a room and get his temperature taken. I arrived at 10:01...At 10:35 a worker tells me that the actual vet wouldn't be in until 11..Assuming that I'd be okay with waiting. At 11:30 I decided to leave without being properly attended. The vet had still not arrived. Absolutely absurd how long I had to wait and with little or no communication at all. I'm sticking to my vet. Very helpful staff. My dog needed emergency surgery and I brought her in and they took her in right away. Dr. kumar did a great job on stitching my dog up. When my puppy fractured her leg from jumping off the couch, Dr. Kumar's clinic was the only place we called that was willing to accommodate us even though they were minutes away from closing. Upon arrival, the staffs took our puppy in almost immediately for an x-ray. Dr. Kumar certainly is compassionate towards his clients because he took his time with us to explain all of the various options and medical procedures. My dog got bit by something, started to swell up and couldn't breath I called at 145 they answered and put me on hold for more than 5 min they never picked up had to call again for them to tell me they couldn't see my dog and sent me to the pet ER so I had to rush to the El Monte in hopes my dog wouldn't die on the way... thanks for closing your doors to a dog in distress... never ever am I going to try contacting this place for any of my pet needs Read Less

Trying to keep at ease upon this review.  Have only visited this office a handful of times.  Mainly for vaccination clinics for my 3 dogs.  Like any responsible pet owner when your dog is not acting like them-self you know its time to see the vet.  I took my 7 year old female dog to see why her sudden decline in spunkiness.  After blood test and xrays it was concluded she had beginning stages of arthritis in her spine.  But there was a heart murmur which he wanted tested for heartworms.  Never heard a result in over a month.  Thought, no new, good news.  Called after a month and was told test was negative.... so i thought.  My dog started showing same symptoms a few days ago so I went in today to obtain blood work labs, xrays for 2nd opinion on diagnosis and low and behold test results on lab work show PENDING.  Girl at front desk even told me they were negative until i pointed out the column for results showing PENDING.  I was told negative results from the wrong column in lab work.  Girl at front desk didn't know what to say. Doctor was too busy to talk.  Office Manager was gone for the day.  Asked if lab was open tomorrow to obtain results and she had no clue.  What kind of professional protocol standards does this place have?  How do you not know how to read your own lab work or charts?  I don't even care about what I paid for this service, I need to know if one of my family members is OK.  I understand you have to numb yourself in some professions.  But to give faulty test results and don't even try to make the situation right.  One word comes to mind MALPRACTICE. I hope the lab I contact is even legit.  I rarely leave reviews but when I do is when an establishment does something completely wrong and is down right horrible.  Please review every test from a vet.  Get 2nd opinions.1 last thing in regards to this vet....    Upon arriving for a copy of my dog's charts, a woman was there with a life or death situation of a puppy stuck in a birth canal.  She wasn't seen until 20 minutes after and only because she had to constantly go to desk and ask for help.  Who works at a veterinarian office and can't recognize fatal situations?  Witnessing today's actions in regards to not only my situation has confirmed this place is somewhere I will never take my pets/family again.    The 4 to 5 star reviews on this place in no way can be legit.  Good luck to your pets if you go here. I am in rescue and recently took a puppy with parvo to Dr Kumar as I had heard that he had a good success rate with them.  I have lost puppies in the past to it so I was pretty nervous.  I think the puppy was there for about 10 days and was treated for parvo, giardia and an upper respiratory infection.   Dr Kumar even took the pup home so that he could continue fluids.  I am extremely grateful to Dr Kumar that the puppy survived and is now thriving. I really love this place. I have been here a few times with my rats and I am very impressed with the staff and Dr. Kumar. I am an RVT myself but I bring my rats here since the doctors I work with aren't very experienced with exotics. Working at an animal hospital, I will admit, I am a bit picky about what i expect. Every time I come, the staff is warm and very knowledgeable. I cannot speak about all their other services, but they get an A+ with their pocket pet experience. Great job to all the staff! Read Less

The ladies who work there on staff are very friendly and supportive. The vet they have is okay but he didnt really seem to know much about my rat. He seemed like a nice guy but I could see how some reviews feel hes rude or whatever. The guys a vet, deals with pets (some angry) everyday. Cut him some slack.Just a warning for anyone who goes there for small animals like rats. They are expensive to treat. Looking into $100+ including the visit plus a baytril shot.Ive heard of other vets charging around 10 to help out sick fancy rats. Again, the staff is amazing. Very friendly and the lady who held my rat in for a baytril shot was awesome. The prices are horrible though. Considering rats need multiple checkups as the months go on, Id recommend finding another vet to save on the cost. Even if its a drive, make a trip out of it. Unless $100+ is nothing to you then yea by all means go for it. The vet gave results. Its just for such a small animal and such a common problem with them (myco) you'd think it would be just a bit cheaper. Read Less

I have brought two of my dogs here for urgent care type of stuff. One of them needed surgery and the other was just a drama king and needed some pain meds to ease his little episode. The doctor and staff are so incredibly helpful and friendly. I'm certainly glad they were open that fateful Sunday morning. This veterinarian was horrible treated me very disrespectful didn't care at all about my Yorkie he kept raising his prices and after my dog's surgery he would not return my calls I had to take her someplace else because her stitches came out and his office would not return my calls they did not want to help me he never finished my dog I had to pay a different veterinarian to help me because her stitches came out I told his office that and I still received no call back after numerous attempts to get ahold of him a day-and-a-half after my dogs surgery they never called me backRead Less

Normally have to wait 40 minutes after appointment time before they see my dog. Left my dog there at the pet hotel and when we picked her up she was covered in pee. If putting your beloved dog down-please read this review because there is one or two things you should be aware of...the biggest is that the vet doesn't actually see your dog before you put them down- that is an extra fee  which seems unethical. What if I was destroying a healthy dog or one that wasn't mine? Let's first get to the hard truth: I had to euthanize my doggie of 15 years. It was time... My Chewy wasn't well...that was a couple weeks backThis location was not my usual vet ( when I called my usual vet - couple days before the woman who answered was bitchy and I just didn't want to deal with that) but I had used their disposal services when another of our doggies had passed away in our front yard a 18 months before...I believe the fee for disposal was around $50 for her as she was under 50 pounds.. They handled her remains with care.I called them ahead to make arrangements. I was quoted approx $150 price for disposal and euthanasia services. They were busy that evening and it was toward closing ( an hour before) soI told them I wanted to wait with my doggie in the car because it was more peaceful ( other dogs can scare him and usually he didn't like vet building smells). I gave them my number to call when they had a room ready...which they did.When I walked into the examination room, I was shocked that they just handled me the paper to sign authorizing the euthanasia... I had taken our previous older dog to a different vet to put her down but the vet saw her and said, no she may not be as bad as you think, let's try this or that... And she had lived. So that they just expected me to sign away his life without a professional even looking at him weirded me out. I asked for a vet to confirm my choice which cost an extra $35. Obviously it was worth it for my piece of mind that I wasn't jumping the gun, but I couldn't believe they were just going to take him on my word...The vet Dr. Kumar looked over Chewy and took all the facts into account- he gave me piece of mind that a couple of grave scenarios could be happening. What had been worrying me the most was that I had to decide to be in the room or not- but this vet prefers owners are not in the room which made it easier for me because the choice was impossible ( I had down it with a past doggie many years ago and it wasn't positive) . They do give you the option of seeing your dog after they have passed but I declined. I stayed with chewy and gave him love until I was ready.. It was after closing but I was not rushed...Please read: if you are putting your dog down, pay first... It was horrible to give him away to the assistant and then have to stand there while a credit card machine was giving them problems knowing he was likely being injected.. I would have paid before I left him...This place handled everything well except that the biggie of being willing to put your dog down without having a vet even look at them... Still smh on that one. As well as having my very own dog, I do a lot of personal rescue. No I am not a large or funded rescue group. I choose to do dog rescue because it needs to be done. Dr. Kumar and his staff are 5 star plus. This is not a place where it's just about $$$$$$$$$. This is truly a dedicated Doctor, and he has obviously trained his staff with the same mentality. Dr Kumar left stitches in my dogs ear and it got horribly infected and he tryed to charge us extra fuck that We had to go to a different vet and Dr Raymond over at amar Glen animal clinic fixed my dog up extremely well and for a third of what this horrible place charges Read Less
