Love this down to earth and friendly vet office . Dr. Flores has an exceptional ability to diagnosis and cure. And has been my vet for over a decade. My husband and I were very pleased with the care of our cat, Casey. The office staff graciously cleaned up our pet who had thrown up and pooped during the 10 minute trip to the vet. They even cleaned out his carrier. Dr. Flores has a gentle manner and wonderful sense of humor! He was very knowledgeable about our cat's intense scratching and his solution worked wonders! This is our primary vet. So far he has handled our initial check up/ exam with our new puppy and helped us deal with an intense ear infection and mange. Will not be returning to see Dr. Flores again.  I have given him a few chances and every visit I'm left disappointed and feeling like I was talked over, ignored and looked down upon.  I went in because my regular vet (whom I found after previously being unsatisfied with Dr. Flores) didn't have any appointments available.  I wanted to get my boy taken care of sooner rather than later.The rest of the staff was very friendly and nice. They have a clean, comfortable facility. But none of that is worth me dealing with Dr. Flores again. I just can't.  I need a veterinarian who is more thorough and has a better "bedside manner" so to say.  If you want a veterinarian who actually takes the time to discuss your animals with you, don't waste your time here.  This clinic seems to be for people who just want to be told what they need to do with their pets, not people who are knowledgeable and want to have a real discussion regarding medical concerns.  He made me frustrated the entire visit, he was extremely dismissive.We went in regarding a hot spot/itchy skin. I told Flores that my dog has a flea allergy and I believed that was the cause of his current itchiness as we just moved into a new house and the previous tenants had cats.  He used a comb on my dog and found a few fleas.  I asked Flores about getting an injection called Cytopoint and he didn't seem to be interested in hearing about it or talking about it. He didn't ask me why I wanted to use this particular product, nothing. Instead he just gave me a weird look and rudely dismissed it.  To be honest I don't believe he has any idea what it is.  So instead I asked about Adoquel.  He suggested that only a steroid would help.  He didn't ask me any medical background questions regarding my dog, I guess he felt it was safe to assume my dog was not on any medication.  LUCKILY, he is not. He is however 9 years old and could very well be taking carprofen/meloxicam etc... NSAIDs are bad with steroids and the combo can cause ulceration and bowel perforation. Which he should know. Soo... what the hell Flores? - WHY WOULD A VETERINARIAN NOT ASK ME IF MY DOG IS ON MEDICATION BEFORE GIVING A STEROID INJECTION? - Besides him being 9 years old, he is also recovering from a torn CCL.  He had TPLO surgery and that is another reason he could have been on those particular meds.  He would of known that had he asked me ANYTHING about my dog.  Very careless of him, Very unprofessional.  We will absolutely never return to this clinic again even if it is an emergency.  I'd be too worried about him rushing through things and not collecting enough information before diagnosing and treating. Let me start off by saying I gave a two star review because of the awful front desk staff. I brought my dog in to have a skin tag removed and was charged $45 for the initial exam and quoted $100 for the removal with everything included (local anesthesia, procedure, and antibiotics). I ended up not scheduling the procedure right away but instead called back a few months later. Apparently the exam quote went from $100 to $150 without explanation from the receptionist. I ended up having the procedure done and when we went to pay were charged over $310. The excuse was that the $150 was apparently only for the removal and nothing else. I explained to the front desk that I was told the $150 was for everything before, during, and after the procedure just minutes prior by the vet. They refused to adopt the original price quote. I definitely will not be back here due to the inconsistency in pricing and the rude front desk staff. I don't know how such an awesome doctor has such a horrible staff. I highly recommend you get a price quote in writing before having anything done at this office!Pertaining to the doctor- he was very friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable. Loved this vet! We went in yesterday to take our newly adopted St. Bernard and they were so nice and informative with what needed. Our new dog had some neglected ear issues and they helped and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm pretty sure if we would have gone to Banfield it would have been wayyyyy more. I don't feel like this place tries to take advantage of you. The dr seems so genuine. We will be returning to this vet for all our pet needs. Thank you again guys! Read Less

I help with a kitten rescue and Dr. Flores spays/neuters all of these sad cases at cost.  This is so kind and I am so thankful.  He has also treated our own pets and my mother's pets and he is upfront, honest and reasonable.  And I've seen him with his own dog who is a rescue and he was so patient and gentle.  I believe he really loves animals and that's what I appreciate most. Great vet, very helpful! Helped out with our l sick puppy very much, provided support, recommendations and even a discount for our very hefty vet bill. Despite all day at home medical care our puppy ended up passing away from parvo. I notified the vet office who gave us their options for disposing of the puppy. We ended up burying her on the top of a mountain in lakeside area where we go camping. But the vet sent a condolences card to our house which was very thoughtful. Started brining our new puppy here who has been all healthy so far. Definately recommend them. Read Less

After taking my husband's cat to the office they charged me $300 and something for test... Told me she needed medicine for a UTI... I called back asking if I need to bring her back for a check up to make sure everything was good she said no... The cat started to have issues a few weeks later again called them back they told me I should of brought her back for a check up. I declined and went somewhere else.... All they want is your money and they don't even do the job! The office needs a update from all the pee seeping into the walls... The front desk ladies sit and talks and talks and when you have a question about cost and what the vet plans on doing she gets snapping and says she's doesn't know she's not the vet... He might be a decent Vet but I will never in a million years take my dog there because of the way I was treated today in his parking lot.  I was on my way to Lakeside Historical Society, all street parking was blocked for construction so I pulled into the parking lot next to the clinic and saw no visible private parking signs. I unloaded my baby who was crying and my daughter and started to walk out to the sidewalk. The man who I am assuming is the vet comes out and yells that he is going to have me towed. I said oh I'm sorry I didn't realize it was a private lot. I told him (with a crying 5 month old in my arms and my 8 year old beside me) that I just needed to run into the Historical Society quickly and asked if it would be ok to leave my car there for two minutes since there is no street parking. He yells no move your car. So I load the baby back in the car and leave to try and find parking. It should be said that he was yelling this from the front porch of the building. And the parking lot was virtually empty. Good vets are a dime a dozen, human decency is not. Keep that in mind when looking into the office. Read Less

I have been taking my dog(s) to Dr Flores for about 4 years. I am very happy with him and his staff. They truly care about the animals and Dr Flores is very reasonable/practical. He doesn't recommend labs, xrays etc unless he really feels it is necessary and he explains rationale for everything he does. Highly recommend. Read Less

My fiancé brought in our kitten because we suspected he had worms. The entire experience was great! We first checked in with Savannah and Diana and they were both very sweet and welcoming. Shortly after my fiancé got there we were seen by Dr. Flores. The entire visit was quick and inexpensive and my kitten was well taken care of! Love Dr. Flores and his staff.  Renee is always very friendly.  Dr. Flores performed a cruciate repair on one of my fur babies, monitors my pup with the enlarged heart, and just did a dental surgery on another of my babies.  They always explain everything thoroughly and always call to check on my babies in the days after they are home after their procedures.  I highly recommend this place! Huge disappointment!! If you hate animal abuse, don't go to this vet! I went in to pick up something from Dr. Flores and witnessed a customer in the lobby, brutally abusing his small, terrier dog. It was heart wrenching! The man had the poor dog down on the ground, kneeling on his tiny body and pushing his head into the floor, yelling at the dog for turning around when I walked in. I yelled at the man several times to stop abusing his dog, but he ignored me. Dr. Flores' staff behind the counter ignored what was happening and blew me off when I told them what was going on. Dr. Flores walked out from the back and rushed me into an exam room. I was upset by what I saw and explained it to him. He left me in the room and said he would 'take care of it'. He came back into the room a couple of minutes later and said it was handled. I left the room I was in and the man was still in the lobby with his dog. Dr. Flores had done nothing! I waited outside and got the license plate of the man's car when he came out to leave. I called the Sheriff's Dept. and Animal Control. The vet office closed shortly after that, but when Animal Control got out there a few days later (finally!), Dr. Flores denied any abuse occurred and refused to give the officer the man's name so the officer could do a follow-up and check on the dog. Shame on that vet and his complacent office staff for ignoring animal abuse right there in their office. All they cared about was their business, not the poor dog being abused. I will never go to this vet again and am reporting him to the California Veterinary Medical Board. Disgusting!! Read Less

WORST place I've ever! Just left there and tried to take advantage of me and my family! We bought a hole package of shot last year and that pet is no longer with us, they charged us $235 bucks and all we got was a deworming because the are cat was sick so we just got a new kitty and we wanted to us the package we bought 6 months ago on are new kitty and they wouldn't transfer are package that we dident even US on are first cat to are new cat, they tried to charge us another $200 bucks for a vaccine they did on are new kitty. They DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY!!!!!!! WORST PLACE EVER! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Then they got made at us because we felt they where taking advantage of us. I feel very comfortable taking my dog there for any reason that needs to be addressed. I highly recommend doctor Flores hospital for as simple check up or mayor medical injury. We use to take our animals in the past to Lakeside Vet but they have recently passed away. We always had a good experience. We got a new dog and wanted to have our 5mo old Shiba Inu puppy spayed. My husband was shocked at Dr. Flores as he examined our puppy. Our puppy is teething and nibbled at Dr. Flores. He grabbed her by the back of the neck and told my husband that this type of breed has a biting problem and stuck his finger down her throat. He then proceeded to hold her mouth with his hand covering her nose and pulling her up by her harness. Our puppy was having hard time breathing and urinated on the table. He then proceeded to tell my husband that she will calm down, but she didnt. So he said that he was going to put a muzzle on her and needed to sedate her before he examined her. He also stated that this is the way you dominate train. What kind of vet are you Dr. Flores? Shame on you, we will NEVER take our dog back to your practice.Read Less

My Labrador and Westie have been seeing Dr. Flores for 2 years now.  I found him through the recommendation of the rescue group that I met my lab, Labrador Rescuers, and they absolutely trust him with their labs so I decided to try him. I can't say enough how grateful I am to have met him; he and his staff are honest and don't try to rip you off for a little extra money.  My Westie's skin was turning black and other vets couldn't help him, Dr. Flores gave us a spray for it and it went away in a few weeks.  And my lab has had several visits for ear infections, tumors, hot spots..... each time we have gone they have provided a solution and they have helped us to keep our costs down as much as possible.I live in Bonita and make the 30 minute drive to lakeside to see him..... that should speak for itself.You won't regret trying him..... he means business on getting his patients healthy and knows his stuff! Way to go Yelpers, you nailed this one!!! It's my pleasure to give Lakeside Vet Hospital 5 stars on my very first review.Dr. Flores and Renee are an amazing team. I brought my 8 year old Toy Fox Terrier in for her very first teeth cleaning because her breath was clearing out rooms (don't judge - I've tried to brush them myself but more toothpaste ends up on my pants and on her face than in her mouth). They were able to take Violet in the next day and were very thorough in explaining the entire process of putting her under. I was greeted by Renee who was very kind and professional. Her compassion and love for animals was immediately apparent to me and confirmed by Violet. After filling out some paperwork, we were promptly led to an exam room and met by Dr. Flores. I appreciated being in the exam room while he checked out Violet's overall health.I knew Violet suffered from knee dysplasia (from other vets) but had to Wikipedia it to really understand what was going on and how it affected her. Dr. Flores took the time to demonstrate by bending her knee and showing me exactly what was going on. I felt very comfortable leaving her with him knowing that she was in very good hands.He called about 90 min later letting me know that the cleaning went perfectly and Violet was awake and would be ready to be picked up later that day. Her teeth looked amazing and her breath smelled better than mine. He answered all my questions about her recovery and even passed the wife test - she's a harsher critic than I am.Dr. Flores and his staff deserve bit of those 5 stars!!! Their prices are extremely reasonable and they are definitely worth the drive from University Heights. I will be recommending them to every pet owner I know. Read Less
