Though normally very nice people there Clinic stinks all the time and the instruments used to check my pets over are always filthy. Not to mention when my mother took her dog to be checked she was told that she could take her dog off his epileptic seizure medication saying that he would be just fine. Only to have him go into analeptic seizure while she was away taking me to the airport and he died. 40 years in business b but I think his old age is catching up and he cannot keep up with what is needed to be done especially when it comes to cleanliness. Akal animal hospital is nothing less then a 5 star experience.  Their  care and compassion towards helping animals is amazing.  It's hard to find a vet  that isn't going to take advantage of you in the vulnerable times of needing emergency services  for your beloved animal. We have been taking my four legged brothers and sister to them for years!! They have always treated each one with great care. We recently had to put one of our older labs to sleep and they talked us through each step as hard as it was to hear and witness. They gave us all the time we needed and were extremely patient. I'm extremely happy I found this place, I had an emergency with my cat he needed stitches on his tail from getting it caught in the door, I had took him to another vet and the cost was 500$ So ridiculous - thankfully I decided to find another place and I still had to pay 50$ at that another vet because they looked at him..... I was reading some reviews about Akal animal hospital about them being affordable so I gave it a try and what do you know it was 200$ to fit my baby's tail!!! My kitten was spayed here. They were the ONLY vet office to do a last minute spay for me on a Saturday and scheduled an appt. a day in advance because my cat was in heat and kept escaping my house. The facility wasn't the most modern state of the art, however my kitten is in good shape as of now. They even threw in her shots for an additional 20 bucks . I love Akal they have always been so much more about my animals than the money. They have always been very personable and kind to me and all my pets. I won't take my cats and dogs anywhere else. I've gotten more kindness from both the veterinarians than I have anywhere else. I've had to bring my dog in a few times under some pretty scary circumstances and they stay calm and collected and take her straight to the back to work on her. When I rescued two stray kittens off the street in pretty bad shape they cut the price and told me we want to do something kind for you because you are doing something kind for these kittens. I would not recommend bringing your animals here. The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming stench the second you open the door. It stinks so bad you don't want to sit down or touch anything the entire visit. Then... I brought my new puppy for a well puppy exam..the vet came in, picked her up and said "she's healthy" He never listened to her heart or took her temperature.  He gave her shots and collected $55 and told us to return in 2 weeks for the next set of shots. 2 weeks later we bring our her back this time as we're waiting in the room I see a filthy sink full of used needles (keep in mind my three year old is with me and could have reached up and poked himself) I don't know why they do not use a sharps container to properly dispose of the needles all I could think about was OMG I HOPE THEY DONT REUSE THEM!! I ended up taking my puppy elsewhere and was told shots are only to be given every 3-4 weeks not every 2 weeks and they refused to give shots on this visit because it would be too much for the puppy to handle. I came here to get my puppy's ears tapped. I had previously came in a few days ago for the same reason except they just used ace bandages and tapped my puppy's ears down not using the typical sticks. So when i had walked in to get my puppies ears tapped with the sticks the receptionist just stared at me and i told her why i was there and she was oblivious to what i wanted. The vet and his stupid sidekick came out from the back they just stared and spoke in their language. All 3 of them the receptionist, sidekick & vet went to the back they didn't even communicate with me what was going to be done. Keep in mind i was the only customer there so they weren't busy. They didnt say anything i waited a few minutes and they were still in the back so i got up and left. And 4 hrs later the sidekick calls my husband asking if I'll be coming back & this guy kept calling our puppy a him when its a her even after we repeatedly had to correct him. My dog recently passed and I brought her to them to be cremated. Prior I took her along with my other dog there for almost 10 years. These people are absolutely amazing and care. I cannot be more grateful and thankful to them. Both my dogs had lumps, infections. etc over the years and every time we took them in they were treated back to health. My lab lived to 14.5 and retriever who was an inbred to 12.5. I truly cannot thank them enough from the bottom of my heart for the work that they do. I wish more people ran a business like them. I have been taking my animals to Akal for about 20 years now. I will never go anywhere else as long as they are around. Dr Randhawa is amazing. He has a very special touch with animals. I had a very sickly rescue dog that had many health problems over his nearly 19 years of life. There were many times we thought we would lose him over the years but the Dr always knew just what to do to make him better. I know in my heart he would not have lived as long as he did without the entire team at Akal. The doctors wife and Eric are also great. When it came time to let our Rusty go, it was handled with such care that it made it alot easier to say goodbye. I highly recommend this vet office to everyone I know. I'm not sure how I feel about this place. They spayed my blue nose pit and it went well, and they removed some kind of lump on her back which also went well. I have some trouble understanding what the vet is saying though. The last time I took my blue nose there it was for an eye and ear issue.. The meds cleared the ear infection right up,, no big deal.. The eye issue on the other hand... I took her back a week or a little over a week later. It had seemed to work but reappeared (her right eye staying closed or mostly closed and itching her. We were given antibiotics, prednisone (steroids) the same pain meds he gave last time which I told him made her sick and said to rinse her eye with WATER daily before applying B. N. P. Gel to it.. I was against water and said to use saline.. The vet didn't say (to my knowledge) that it should only be users twice sunday for 3 days because the purpose was to disinfect and rid the eye of bacteria while PARALYIZING the eye to prevent more damage. Or that long term use could lead to permanent full or partial blindness.. I research everything so I learned a lot from a google search when her eye closed again, and there are a LOT of possibilities for the problem.. Btw, I was right about the aaline.. It didn't hurt her or dry her eyes out like water does but helps it a lot and I wish my advice had been taken from the start. Overall... I'm not sure what to think of this vets office. At least there's one guy that's friendly, and at a different visit for another issue they saw her two days in a row for the same reason for that visit and he didn't charge for the second visit or the second bottle of antibiotics they had to give her so that was cool. The only vet i will take my animals to. Run by a husband and wife who truly care and love animals more than themselves. They work so well with the animals and are so kind hearted. With 3 cats and 2 dogs, we always bounced around the av whenever the animals need something. The cats with their UTIs, upper respiratory infections, the dogs with their spay, neuters, ear infections and a broken paw, we are now loyal customers. I'm new to the Lancaster area and needed a new vet.  I chose Akal based on other reviews.  I was not impressed.  The place stunk and looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time.  The doctor and his vet tech were kind, caring people and seemed knowledgeable, so I decided to let them treat my dog.  She has issues with her bladder, and I recognized the symptoms right away, she had a UTI.  He gave her an antibiotics-injection, and treated a secondary infection on her nose.  They wanted to do a bunch of other stuff, but I declined.  I just wanted her infection treated.I was surprised at the total dollar amount over; $200, but, because he asked me to come back in a week to pickup more antibiotics.  Silly me, I thought that was included in the price I paid on the day of the visit;  $56 just for the antibiotics.  When I picked up the second 7 days worth, I was shocked to pay another $56.  I feel like they took advantage of me as a new customer.  There is a question on the form, asking if your animal is a family pet, child's pet, or member of the family.  I chose member of my family, big mistake.As inconvenient as it will be, I'm just going to drive back to the valley to my previous vet.  The prices are much more reasonable and it's clean. I can not speak highly enough about this place. The doctor truly cares about animals. I have been taking my pets here for years. After our family pet died and we got 2 German Shepherds. One night one of our GS puppies chewed on a stick and got it caught in her teeth. We called right when they were closing. Even though we live 45 mins away from them, they stayed open for us and didn't even charge us a after hours fee. They are amazing!!! Most recently my fathers dog had gotten ill. We thought it was cancer. I took her in and was prepared for a big bill with all kinds of testing needing to be done. Nope, the Doctor knew what was wrong and ran the test to confirm it. He could have easily padded the bill with all kinds of test and we would have paid for it. But he did not. Hes very honest and gives you a break down of what you are paying for. I had a vet for 17 years. After a series of unfortunate events with our 5 year old rotti. We went to Dr. Akal's office for a second opinion. Even though we ended up having to put our baby girl down Dr.Akal and his staff showed more compassion in the hour and a half we spent in his office than our veterinarian had ever shown. We switched and I am happy we did. The newest rotti addition to our family was just treated there 9 months later and not only did our baby girl get personal attention. this is the best vet in this area i have taken my pets to. they are very caring and affordable. they will work with you  if the cost is too high. they always work on the simplest solutions possible to get your pet better rather than automatically recommending expensive treatments like other offices do. every time i go to pick up food for my cat, they always remember her by name without having to look at her chart and ask how the other pets are doing. i have recommended them to all of my friends and family. i will continue to take my pets here as long as they are in business! I've been taking all of my animals to Akal for years. They know exactly what they are doing and dont ever give me and my family the run around when it comes to treating my pets. Their prices are very reasonable and they were very understanding when i wasnt able to pay all at once. The doctors are friendly and very in touch with the animals. They moved and I thought they were out of business so i took my dog to a local vet for an emergency. They made us run and pay all of these different tests and scans and were still unable to find the problem. We've been taking our dog here for a while now, and their service has always been great.  The last time we took our pitbull/rottweiler mix in was because on New Years, people were setting off fireworks, and scared him.  He tried to get out of his kennel, and ended up destroying the steel framing of the kennel.  In the process, he tore up his face and body (blood was everywhere).  We were at a new years party, so we didn't find out until we got home (that's how we found out that our dog REALLY doesn't like fireworks).When we took our dog in to the Akal vet the next day, they were very gentle.  Our dog was in a lot of pain, but they were able to give him the right medication, and he healed up great!  Now you can't even tell that he had all sorts of deep cuts to his face and body.  It was if it never even happened.As far as cost is concerned, it was very reasonable.  We've taken him to other vets before, and they usually were more expensive. My dog was attacked by a pit and I took him to AKAL were there hours are from 8:00a.m.-6:00 p.m. I called at 6:10 and all they said was " Bring him in , bring him in will wait for you". The price were shockingly affordable and they saved my dog. I have returned there again and again, mostly for shots, but every time they see him they ask how he is doing. We went to see the good people at AKAL with some trepidation since we'd never been there before, but our regular vet's clinic was being remodeled, and AKAL had been highly recommended to me. I recognized the owners are a lovely Sikh couple. We brought to them our elderly German Shepherd and they could not have been more responsive and kind. I felt as though I was at an old-fashioned vet's office in the best possible way, in that he examined our dog and didn't merely perform tests on him.
