Always able to fit my dogs in for an appointment. Very thorough. I have yet to wait longer than 5 minutes from check in until I see the Dr. Very affordable! I had may dog’s yearly dental exam done here fo the first time (previously we used another local vet) and when I picked her up, I was (happily) surprised to find she wasn’t covered in slime like the previous dental cleanings. After my dog got very sick and we had to put her down. The vet stayed passed closing time so my brorher could rush from work to say his goodbyes before putting her down .Everyone signed card to offer us condolence and mailed to our home. This place was horrible and I will avoid at all costs from now on. My puppy was throwing up and I thought it was from the fact that she licked a spot where bug spray was previously sprayed. I called my regular vet and they gave an appointment 2 hours from them but I was desperate for help so I called this place. I liked the fact that they gave me an appointment within 30 mins so I guess they deserve this one star. However, we waited for about 30 mins. They staff is very nice. We waited in the room for another 20 mins or so. The vet came in and that's when everything went downhill. I told him about my suspicions as to why my puppy was throwing up. And that was it. My suspicions were followed by "I cannot treat her not knowing what she ingested so take her to the emergency room and come back to us" he basically threw his hands up not wanting to do anything. He proceeded to "examine" my puppy. My puppy was in her little crate and he felt uncomfortable taking her out. Mind you this is a 3 pound puppy and is completely harmless. And then... He kept pulli f my puppy from her head and dragging her towards him. He wasn't nice at all and my puppy was rightfully afraid of him. He also felt her neck and made her yelp. He obviously hurt her. I usually go to another vet but they have a later appointment. Since I was freaking out I took her here. So basically, I know how my puppy should be treated. No one has ever pulled her from her head and although she feels uncomfortable when people press on certain parts of her body she never yelps because why? The vets are being gentle. It was complete chaos. My puppy is running away from this man while he goes on and on about how he needs to know what was in the bug spray. Since it wasn't me who sprayed but the management at my apartments I called them to ask what was in the spray. The vet has specifically asked me to call so he knows what was in the spray. After being on hold and such with the management office they finally obtain the list so I get the vet and he said "I don't wanna hear it, you need to give that information to the emergency hospital"  ..... Really? I was struggling to obtain the list because you wanted it and now it turns out you didn't need it? At that point I grabbed my puppy and stormed off. I was close to not even asking how much I owe because I'm thinking... I waited almost an hour for the vet to throw his hands up saying he can't do anything to help. Sisnt ask a thing else and didn't listen to me. I ended up demanding the price and they said it was no charge but I had to take my puppy to the emergency room. By the time I got out of there I was time for my another appointment I made at my regular vet which happens to be down the street. What a difference! They listened to what I had to say and they ended up determining it wasn't the bug spray. It was something else my pup had ate. They didn't the hurt my puppy and she was even giving the vet and nurse kisses. And now... I'm here with my puppy who is doing just fine. I have been bringing my dogs here for 3 years and Dr G has been great.  Both my dogs have had a few issues and he has been able to help/cure them everything from their ailments. I highly recommend his clinic!  His pricing is also great for those of us who can't afford those super expensive clinics. One of the great processes he use's is he always writes up the what he plans to do for your animal and how much it costs before he does anything, so you know what is happening. Read Less

So my wife and I saw that our little schnauzer needed her teeth to get deep cleaned and there were a few teeth that needed to be extracted. We window shopped and by far this place had given us the most reasonable price! The Dr took a look at our fur baby's teeth and said her back molar teeth needed to be extracted and so did a few others in the front and she definitely needed a deep cleaning he quoted us $800 when everywhere else we were looking at $1000 and up. We are truly grateful to Dr. Gowda turns out our little girl needed to have 27 teeth removed!!!! He told us he was going to keep his bill at $800 when it was a $2000 bill he saw Elphaba needed the work done and that we are in hardship. To me this is a honest man who cares about your pet hes not in it to pinch every cent you got. So hard to find a vet that still cares for the well being of your pet, any where you go you wont be as lucky. Thank you again Dr. Gowda you will be highly recommend to all our friends and family!! One of my friend had recommended this vet for my dog Skippy and I was scared to try a new vet. I was sticking to my current vet and had avoided this clinic until the below incident happened.During one of my tennis classes, Skippy was badly injured by a Kayoke.. We were able to rescue Skippy from the Kayoke.. However Skippy was scared to death after the incident and was acting weird.. He was also wounded badly around the neck.. I could not get in touch with my regular vet and I finally decided to call this new clinic.. Vet asked me to bring my dog to the clinic immediately...staff were very nice and courteous.. I was so glad that they were able to take my dog at such a short notice. My dog got very good treatment and the doctor was very thorough with the exam. My doctor also found that Skippy is in a panic mode and suggested us to give him lot of attention for next few days until he regains his confidence. Doctor also asked us to visit again after a week for the follow-up checkup,... Well, my dog completely recovered now..  I will definitely go back again.. I am glad I found this place. Read Less

Originally took my dog to Emergency Hospital on grossmont but found out my dog needed life threatening  surgery, unfortunately E.R. hospital could not help me. So I had to wait for next day to see if this hospital would take my case and help Canela out. Which they did! Canela would not have lived if it wasn't for Lemon grove Veterinarian Hospital! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE Helpful Doctor that saved her life and the team that also helped Canela feel comfortable. It's day 3 and her appetite is getting bigger. Don't be put off by the gruff exterior and abrupt bedside manner. Dr. Gowda and his staff have provided excellent veterinary care for my furbaby and at reasonable prices to boot. They have never tried to upsell me on exams, tests, or medications (including during what I thought was an emergency, but turned out to be a minor thing like he diagnosed). Took my dog in for a free exam given us by the SPCA. TERRIBLE vet. Rude, zero empathy.His staff is nice and courteous though.Once the vet knew that the dog was a shelter dog and that I'm military and move a lot, he gave a don't care attitude. I am certain that his attitude was because he felt that we would not be returning customers. This is bad business. Didn't address our questions, giving quick unconsidered "I don't know", didn't investigate the causes and possible solutions for our dog's separation anxiety condition. Didn't help with any of the issues we are facing and the only sign of interest he showed was to sell us fluoxetine there for the SA.If I tell a vet my dog is eating my door every time I leave the house, I expect more than "oh that's common with shelter dogs". After searching for a vet near my house that was open on a Saturday I happened to find this place.  My dog had been acting different and crying when being picked up or jumping down from the couch. I was so happy they had an opening and took my dog in at 245pm even though the Dr had to leave by 3pm.  The exam is only 20 dollars and the Dr was very thorough with the exam. He determined there was nothing wrong with my dog, she was emotional because she was in heat or had a UTI. Apparently the humane society didn't perform the spade  surgery correctly or they didn't do it at all because my dog has a scar on her belly. I received some atibiotics and the total visit cost me  $60. The staff was really nice. I would go back again. Read Less

Don't judge a book by its cover. Despite the location and semi rugged exterior, Dr. Gowda and his team are top notch. - Dr. Gowda is straight up and breaks everything down. - The teams service is exceptional. Prompt with phone calls, ready with answers, follow up calls and they truely show compassion for animals. It's not just about money, at least I hope its not in entirety. - The rates are very competitive. Those without pet insurance and have limited means, try them out. I scheduled my 9 year old Dauchsands Teeth cleaning and extractions. My primary vet wanted over $2,000 for the procedure and that was a procedure my insurance does not cover. I found Dr. Gowda through a friend and she has nothing but postive things to say. That sealed the deal for me. All in the procedure cost well over $600 for my case (varies depending on breed and condition). I dropped my dog off in the morning and left her there all day while I was at work. They took care of her and performed the procedure under anethsia without any issues. I picked up my drowsy dog after work and she bounced back the next day. 3 weeks later, my same dog was attacked by a pitbul and suffered deep lacerations on her back neck. It was 10 minutes to closing time for Dr. Gowda, but he and his team stayed over 2 hours to tend to my dog. It required another case of anethsia and stitches. =( My dog is a trooper to endure this type of trama. Both case Dr Gowda and team performed as expected. Deceptive Pricing. They lure you in with their dental cleaning coupon, but then when you get there they tell you all the "base" needs for cleaning which is double the price advertised, not to mention the final price could be 10X the advertised price. If they recommend additional services this should be clearly stated in the coupon or at least when you call to make an appointment. I ended up walking out. I've been coming to this vet office for about almost 5 years now prior to new management. Never had any issues with my cats coming to see Dr. Gowda. He always recommends the best medicine for my cats and very informative about complications that may arise from playing the "wait and see game" and not taking direct action of the medical diagnosis or treatment options. This always helps me make the better decision for the health of my cats. One of my cats I've struggled for 2 yrs to fix his urinary problem so Dr. Gowda suggested radiographs be taken to make sure no stones were present and we did a urine analysis in case nothing showed up on the X-rays. Radiographs showed no signs of stones but without the urine analysis we would have never known it was crystals. The fact that he highly recommended both to ensure there was no wasted time helped, stones may have required surgery so we ruled that out first and sent the urine to the lab for testing. So we treated the crystals and changed my cats diet and now he doesn't struggle to urinate and there is not tint of blood anymore. So I wouldn't believe these bad reviews, he is always looking at my records and asking about my other cats even if they are not present for an examination. Really treats the animals with concern, and understanding the bond between client and patient has enabled Dr. Gowda to take great care and consideration for his patients. Prices are reasonable and he is always willing to help walk in customers without appointment, I've had to do that in emergency situations sometimes.Read Less

I took my 13 year old dog in to see about skin problems. The Vet came up with a menu of test procedures totaling $1900 dollars. When I said that I could not afford $1900 he told me I could choose which tests to have done. Isn't that his job? Isn't he the expert? I paid money for the basic exam and left. I went to a different vet the next week was given good advice about the skin and a medication for an ear infection for under $60. What a difference. Read Less
