Over the years we have brought numerous pets of all kinds into the hospital and always received the absolute best treatment for our pet and ourselves. They were very knowledgeable of the animal and what was likely causing the problem for them at that time. I would highly recommend them for anyone needing medical assistance for their animal. This post is over 5 years past due but I am now looking for a vet again and felt that Dr. Bonnington deserved the praise. My childhood dog became very sick about 5 years ago and we couldn't figure out why. Our regular vet at the time was so dismissive and we knew we needed a second opinion. Dr. Bonnington was that second opinion. Long story short our sweet dog had consumed a ton of fruit from our backyard (without us knowing) and had the pits from that fruit lodged throughout her little 7 pound body. We had the option of a very expensive surgery that was not even a guarantee and ultimately as a family decided that it was better for everyone if we put her down. It was easily one of the worst days of my life (and I'm getting choked up even typing this 5 years later!) but I cannot stress how nice and kind Dr. B and his staff were. I was ugly crying in their office and they were there for me. I've raved about how they handled things these past 5 years to everyone looking for a vet in Lmo. Dr. B even followed me out to my car after I walked out bawling, and made sure to check on me and reassure me that we'd done the right thing and that I needed to take a min before driving. I'm sure they do it for everyone but the staff also made a custom ornament of our dog's paw print that we treasure to this day. I'm in Dublin now and finally looking to rescue a new dog, and while I know there are good vets closer to home I just might make the trip back to Lmo. Read Less

What a jerk! We pulled into an unmarked space in "his" lot and he immediately ran out of the office and quite rudely told us to leave. We pointed out that the spot we were in was unmarked but we would leave if it was for his business (which had been closed for well over an hour). He continued to berate us for having parked there even as we were leaving! I honestly think he waits around hoping to catch people parking in what he calls, "his" lot! Someone not so obsessed with the situation would have put up signage long ago! We were very careful to avoid the spots in front of the business that were clearly marked so I'm not sure why he hasn't marked all the spots if he's going to get so bent about them being taken after hours. I wouldn't bring my animals to him. He's got issues. In reading some of his prior reviews, it's easy to see that he's a little unstable. Read Less

I had a cat and a dog for many years while going to Animal Hospital. While the staff is very friendly and caring, Dr. Bonnington would recommend tests and procedures we could in no way afford, as if those were the only options. I realize he was doing his job of recommending what's best, but I don't feel like I deserved the guilt trip that came with it. I would have appreciated a more pragmatic approach. I'll be seeking a new vet in the future. Read Less

I was completely unimpressed with Dr. Bonnington. He didn't seem to care about my dog, and I got the impression that my questions to him were an inconvenience. In addition, the appointments were never on-time, even when I had the first appointment of the day. There was one day I had set a 10:30 appointment and Dr. Bonnington didn't even get into the office until 20 minutes after the start of my appointment. I also felt like he wasn't incredibly knowledgeable about puppies. I have a mutt who was 3 months the first time I came to see him. He estimated the total weight of my dog to be 25 pounds when full grown. I told him the breeds we were told the dog was (Golden/Pyrenees mix according to the shelter) and the estimated size of about 60 pounds and he laughed at me, swearing that my dog would probably be 35 pounds at the absolute most and that he was almost never wrong about this. He actually laughed and then told one of the vet techs the 'joke', making me feel uneducated and naïve. My puppy is currently 5 months old, 45 pounds, and still growing. Also, I needed my dog to be micro-chipped, but could not because their microchips have been back-ordered for about 2 months. The only reason I am giving two stars is because I was always made to feel welcome by the ladies who work the front desk. They were always friendly and seemed to actually like animals. Read Less

I have been taking my 2 cats and dog here for 5 or so years now and would do anything I can to keep them in Dr. Bonnington's care. All 3 of my animals have had an emergency at some point and needed to see a vet ASAP. Every time we have had an urgent problem with one of our pets they get us in before 10:30 am (at the latest!) they day we call, they will always fit you in. The ladies that work at the front desk are always extremely caring of our animals and helpful when having to pay the pet bills. Are they cheap? No, which vet is? And if you found a veterinarian for dirt cheap would you trust taking your animal(s) there? We have gone to and tried 2 other vet offices in Livermore and still pick Dr. Bonnington and his staff to care for our animals. He is always been very compassionate and knowledgeable, he can answer any question we shoot to him.I urge you to scroll down to yelp pages and read the "filtered" reviews. I believe Bonnington really took advantage of my old parents. He told them that their 14 year old dog needed 2 broken teeth removed, a 3rd cleaned and 2 x-rays to support the dental surgery. The price was estimated to be $825 to $900. The actual services done were a teeth cleaning and 4 back x-rays ($125 each) to show the dog?s arthritic condition that everyone already knew. Bonnington later said that no teeth were broken nor needed to be removed. The total actual price was more than $1,000. My parents ended up paying more than estimated and received services that were not in line with the original diagnosis. Additionally, the dog never received the IV fluids that were paid for and needed, since the dog could not eat or drink for 12 hours. Either Bonnington cannot tell 2 broken teeth from 2 unbroken teeth or, as I believe is the case, simply wanted to scare my parents in order to take advantage of them. The back x-rays were entirely unnecessary. Additionally, having an old dog go through unneeded general anesthesia without IV fluids and 3 days of painful recuperation was really a crime. The dog was so old, in fact, that he died 4 months later. That was the last time we will bring any animal to Bonnington. Read Less
