When someone calls to get quotes on vaccines and exams, it is probably important to not laugh in annoyance at your future customer. I have never had a puppy, and am calling around for prices and to get a feel on a good Vet in the Livermore area. When I called Del Valle, I got "it depends on when you bring them in, how old they are, how many they need..." So I said, "he will have his first shots from the breeder, and he will be 10 weeks old. I don't know how many he needs because this will be my first pet." And her response was "ha, well that doesn't help." She went on to tell me that I would have to do an initial exam, and continued to sound annoyed and that she had no interest in helping me understand this process at all.
I will never go here and although I should give one star, I don't want to take away from the potentially great staff that has actually had some training and probably manners. Del Valle Animal Hospital should seriously consider a new secretary. I can imagine I'm not the only pet owner who will go somewhere else due to the lack of understanding, caring and teaching done on the end of their staff.

I brought my Havanese Rylee in at 8 today having never been seen here before. I am so impressed and grateful to the staff. They fit me in immediately and gave me an extra towel as Rylee had soiled the one I brought with me. The most amazing thing was Rylee usually shakes like a leaf at the vet's office and instead she was amazingly calm throughout the entire exam and treatment. She felt the kind, warm and caring spirit that embraced us.
Kacey, the vet tech, was wonderful with her. Dr. Connor saw us right away and was great at explaining the treatment options and working with me to chart the course for next steps. She immediately ruled out my concern over an obstruction. Never once did I feel she was trying to push me toward expensive tests that were not needed.
She did recommend that I get Rylee's teeth cleaned and her explanation regarding why was the first time I truly understood the risks of NOT doing it for an 11-year old dog.
They were prompt and thorough and down to earth. I wanted to share my appreciation and advise others to choose Del Valle for your pets.

I really like the staff here. I have a rescued abuse case Great Pyrenees that is very scared of people and hates his feet touched. Although I have a home vet for most things for him (he does better at home) I do bring him here for his nail trims every few weeks. They have been great with him! At first he would get so nervous that he would expel his anal glands (not pretty from a 130lb dog). They have been patient and gentle with him and although he still needs to be muzzled, he doesn't hate his nail trimmings as much.

They quote several different prices for the same exact thing depending on who you get on the phone. Once you are in the price increases. Before I left, one quote was $930 for one dog, $740 for another. Later they claimed to make a mistake keying in the medication fee of $270 which was later changed to $19 dollars. Office manager bullied you with your finances when you were deciding if you could only afford one or two dogs for the procedure. I have 30 years of vet bills, and I am not new to pricing, quality of work, or lies. Excuses included: I am not the owner and do not set the pricing I do not know the prices in my head I do not have a calculator Its only an estimate it could be more They left you with a range of 4-$600 on top of the $930 and $740 and acted as if anyone could afford and would be willing to accept those variances. Wow...I was just dumb founded. My dogs teeth BTY have just been cleaned the year of 2007 (one dog by DrMcCool)and were not in desparate need nor did they look uncared for. They have been seen by other vets since the 2007 teeth cleaning and niether vet has encouraged teeth cleaning or needless extractions. I feel this veterinarian was more concerned at keeping her ""quota cash cow"" than being honest to customers. People do not realize how much they can be mislead if they do not do diligent homework and get educated. Not saying the quality of work is not good, just the same quality can be more than half the price and your dog still may have teeth in his mouth instead of a jar!

They are wonderful! They have been able to squeeze my dogs in when there has been an emergency. The staff was willing to move appointments around and switch some appointments to make sure that my dog was okay. I know they have switched some appointments on me in the past when it was just a check up and I am so relieved they were able to do it for me in my time of need.

They quote several different prices for the same exact thing depending on who you get on the phone. Once you are in the price increases. Before I left, one quote was $930 for one dog, $740 for another. Later they claimed to make a mistake keying in the medication fee of $270 which was later changed to $19 dollars. Office manager bullied you with your finances when you were deciding if you could only afford one or two dogs for the procedure. I have 30 years of vet bills, and I am not new to pricing, quality of work, or lies. Excuses included: I am not the owner and do not set the pricing I do not know the prices in my head I do not have a calculator Its only an estimate it could be more They left you with a range of 4-$600 on top of the $930 and $740 and acted as if anyone could afford and would be willing to accept those variances. Wow...I was just dumb founded. My dogs teeth BTY have just been cleaned the year of 2007 (one dog by DrMcCool)and were not in desparate need nor did they look uncared for. They have been seen by other vets since the 2007 teeth cleaning and niether vet has encouraged teeth cleaning or needless extractions. I feel this veterinarian was more concerned at keeping her ""quota cash cow"" than being honest to customers. People do not realize how much they can be mislead if they do not do diligent homework and get educated. Not saying the quality of work is not good, just the same quality can be more than half the price and your dog still may have teeth in his mouth instead of a jar!
