After a very bad experience with another Livermore Vet who didn't recognize a critical problem, hardly wanted to touch my little 6.5lb cat because they seemed afraid of her and sent us home to administer sedation to our cat so that they could get a blood sample, we decided to try Integrative Vet care. Dr Brenda immediately recognized that our cat was in distress and that something was wrong with her ribs and took immediate action to bring her relief and identify the problem. As in the other review, I got the definite feeling that she is there for the animals and expressed genuine concern to help them feel better and that she did! She identified cracked rib cartilage and drained almost 3/4 of a cup of fluid from her chest cavity to bring immediate relief to her breathing. I felt that the fee for all of the services and actual help that she provided was very fair. So happy that we found her!! Read Less

Brenda and her caring staff gave our old boy several extra precious active months of life. She used a combination of traditional and holistic treatment options including acupuncture, which really seemed to ease his pain and allow him to be active to just shy of his 17th birthday. Amazing for a Great Dane mix. This staff doesn't just treat pets, they love them as well. Highly recommended. Read Less

Thank you Dr. Mills for helping my sick chicken!  She puts the animal's health first and was willing to treat an abscess on my chicken's face.  When my girl still had a problem a week after the first procedure she worked with me to keep costs down and make my girl better.  She is knowledgeable and cares about your pet.  On the downside, when I called the office, I was often on hold for over 10 minutes. My first impression was that the doctor was not a people person and I was left standing at the desk several times while the receptionist ran back and forth with my questions and concerns.  In the end, I'm grateful to Dr. Mills and appreciate her help. Dr. Mills is the most amazing veterinarian and animal lover I've ever known! We took our bunny to her back in December and he had an absess on his nose. She prescribed some medicine and it helped our bunny stay alive 3 months longer than expected. We were going to give him to Dr. Mills back in January and she was willing to take him. We changed our mind and decided to keep him and take him to UC Davis based on her referral. After learning he had infections beyond repair and that thousands of dollars is what it would take to maybe make him better, we decided to call Dr. Mills again to see if she would still take him in. She didn't even hesitate and said she will do everything she could possibly do for him.We are so grateful for Dr. Mills doing this for us. It was a really hard decision to give him away and the office staff were so helpful and understanding. I highly recommend going to Country Pet Hospital for all your pet needs. She was the only vet that would even examine our bunny around the Livermore area. Thank you Dr. Mills! We are forever grateful. Read Less

Dr mills has a genuine passion for the wellness of animals. My boyfriend and I got a cavalier puppy together and were fairly new at dog ownership and dr mills has been there, literally, every step of the way. Even before I purchased the puppy, she warned me of the possible complications with the breed so I could better choose a breeder-- and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. She also mentioned a website called "muttsville", who has older dogs for adoption. In the future I plan on using that website. I recommend making an appointment to talk to her before hand and make the right decision about purchase or adoption, they might know the perfect pet for you currently being fostered. My cavalier has had a couple rough patches during puppyhood and dr mills has been incredibly knowledgable with everything I've brought up to her (and I have had MANY questions). She knows all the tips and tricks, which is nice for a new puppy owner who knows nothing. The vet techs are incredibly nice. Sarah and Alicia were incredibly helpful with my difficult scheduling. And I want to mention she does practice both eastern and western medicine! Like most pet owners, I consider all my animals like children, and I 100% trust dr mills and would recommend her. :) Read Less

Our 9-year-old bunny suddenly became quite ill.  I searched high and low for a local vet who treats rabbits, and Dr Mills was the only one.  Much to our surprise, our poor bunny had broken her back (not uncommon for rabbits).  Dr. Mills very compassionately explained in great detail what was wrong with the bunny and how her broken back had contributed to a number of other issues the bunny had been having.  We were shocked, to say the least, since we had no idea she'd hurt herself.  Dr. Mills said with constant, daily care and meds she might have another 6 months to live.  Dr. Mills was fully prepared to help us with the care but was also honest with us about euthanizing our bunny. After much thought and discussion, we made the heart-rending decision to say goodbye to our sweet rabbit. Prior to going to Dr Mills, I'd contacted the local rabbit rescue group for vet recommendations. The ones they suggested either had stopped taking new patients or were too far away.  When I said we were going to Dr Mills, the rabbit rescue person told me to keep looking for another vet.  She didn't say why.  But having experienced Dr. Mills' thorough, compassionate, and knowledgeable dealings with our beloved bunny, I don't understand the rabbit rescue lady's reluctance.  I highly recommend Dr. Mills if you have a rabbit that needs medical attention.  She has had rabbits herself and knows them very well. I hate giving poor reviews on businesses.    I am more likely to give excellent reviews. I felt I had to express my anger over this one.    My dog got very ill, I've had heard good things about Dr. Mills so I decided to take her there.  They were able to squeeze me in which I was very thankful.  However , when I got there , after filling out the paperwork the receptionist takes my dog from me and says  "she won't be ready to be pick till late afternoon".i was taken back because I've never been to vet, especially on the first visit,  and never get to meet and go over her condition.  Grant it, I was thankful that they were able to squeeze us in but i should have been told "We can squeeze your sick dog in, however, Dr. Mills will not be available"   If that were the case , I would have moved on and found someone that could see us.  I've never had a receptionist just take my dog . It didn't sit well with me leaving her and not meeting Dr.Mills.  However,  she was so sick I was just desperate to get her help.  I thought to myself when I left "I'll meet Dr. Mills when I pick my baby up".    Guess what??   NOT!!!  I was extremely upset , pissed ,, all of the above that I never met this Dr!!  An assistant brought my dog to me in the waiting room!  She told me that Dr.Mills diagnosed her and the assistant went over the instructions for her meds.  I was in SHOCK and very pissed!   Who does that????  You have a new patient and Dr. Mills and can't take 5 mins out of your busy schedule to come introduce yourself??  Unbelievable!   Not only that having to try and listen to the assistant go over the diagnosis and med instructions in a noisy waiting room where barking dogs , anxious cats were, of course , they were just happy to see their owners! .  We were all there picking up at once.   Very tough for me to hear and focus on what's wrong  with my baby and listen to instructions in a noisy room!     I asked if I could meet the Dr. Mills and her assistant told she was busy !!    Instead gave me everything I needed and the grand total would be $425.00!!  No mention of a return visit OR a follow up phone call asking how she's doing or telling me she needs a special diet once she gets well.  Highly disappointed and angry!!!  I will NEVER take my pets to your place ever again!!!  And anyone asks me for a recommendation for a vet in town.. It won't be your place.  Very , VERY unprofessional !!!  At least you can do is meet your new patients!! Please,,,,,,, after charging a lot of money ,   I doubt you even met my dog and treated her!  Most likely your assistant !! Read Less

Dr. Brenda Mills is absolutely wonderful.  I trust her fully with and when it comes to my fur babies and their care - and anyone who knows me, knows I do not give that trust easily.  My dogs love her and love going to see her.  When they see her outside of the clinic, they whine and cry until they are able to go say "hello".  Dr. Mills takes the time to know and learn about your animals and you can tell she absolutely loves what she does.  She is patient, gentle, and genuine.  She explains things in detail, answers your questions, and tells you the pros & cons of procedures she may recommend.  She is a wealth of information and uses not only traditional veterinary medicine, but also offers acupuncture and herbal supplements..... things that have been wonderful for both of my dogs on various occasions!I highly recommend her - you and your pets will be in great hands. We have been growing increasingly disappointed in Dr. Mills.  We have been customers here for almost 15 years and have spent thousands of dollars in her office.  The prices for services and products have been increasing.  Upon the last several visits they have been trying to charge us for additional items along with our prescription medications without consulting us.   Today, we took our dog for his appointment and were just under 15 minutes late due to unexpected traffic.  Dr. Mills wound not see our dog who has a recurring infection that needs attention nor would she prescribe his repeated antibiotic to clear up the infection.  They then tried to charge us for a missed appointment.  What is funny about that is when we have an appointment we typically have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes and sometimes up to 30 minutes to see the doctor. When we voiced our frustration her receptionist went back to discuss the matter with Dr. Mills.  She returned to say we could leave the dog and pick him up later.  When we asked if we could discuss this matter with Dr. Mills, her receptionist went back to talk to her again about our situation.  When the receptionist returned she told us Dr. Mills wasn't in the office.  It seems not only are they stuggling with customer satisfaction issues but also with honesty. So much for appreciating long term, repeat clients. Read Less

As good as it gets!  Dr. Mills is fantastic.   Even though she is trained in western medicine, she will use the holistic approach first.  That means less chemicals and traumatic procedures for our loved ones. Also, I was floored that she was able to diagnose my dog simply by observing her....something no other vet had managed.  She is something like a 'dog whisperer'; takes her time and gets to know the animal.  My dog suffered from extreme vet phobia and was known to eliminate her bowels and anal glands in fear, when restrained by veterinary personnel.  Dr. Mills took her time with her.  Lots of time.  Got on the floor, never intruding her space, talking to me while feeding dried liver treats.  With every subsequent visit, my dog became more trusting.  Her phobia is gone....now she is just a bit cautious.  After five years of traumatic vet visits she is finally relaxing.  Dr. Mills is also great with cats.  Diagnosed and treated my cat correctly after an emergency vet suggested something completely different the day before.  She is so right on because she asks the right questions and is so very observant, while never rushing during a visit. When I had to put an older cat of mine to sleep, she was so supporting and comforting like I have never experienced with a vet.  She truly knows grief counseling.... I also want to mention her staff.  The veterinary technicians are outstanding - knowledgeable and personable!  I have complete trust in their competence.  Front staff as well - efficient as no other. Prices - I think a bit less than other places I have been.   Dr. Mills will never do any unnecessary tests or procedures - everything is discussed up front.  No surprises. Read Less

Brenda, her expertise & her staff are worth every penny in my opinion. Their office has ALWAYS been able to squeeze my dogs in quickly when there have been emergencies, the staff LOVES my dogs & my dogs don't mind going to the vet because they're treated so well there! When you go in for a wellness exam, or for an appointment with Brenda herself, she's like an encyclopedia of invaluable knowledge, I've learned SO MUCH from every appointment I've had with her, she always explains everything clearly, answers all questions, and when it comes down to an owner having to make a decision about what to do...Brenda tells you the pros & cons of each option available & doesn't try to steer you towards what she thinks is best, she leaves the decision solely up to you, unless you specifically ask her what she would do. She's always fair, unbiased & honest.Brenda combines homeopathic/natural medicine with traditional methods & the result is always great. She's also really knowledgeable in animal behavior too, anything my dogs do, she can pretty much decode for me, such as their body language, reasons for whining, etc....I feel as if everyone here cares about my dogs as if they were their own pets, not just another dollar sign walking through the door. This is extremely important to me, because my dogs are my fur kids & only deserve the best!!To me, the peace of mind that my vet is honest & is always going to do what's in the best interest for my pets, and is extremely knowledgeable...is what makes this place a 5 star veterinary clinic! I am happy to recommend this veterinary office as one of the best I have seen! I worked with vets and shelters before I became a 1st-3rd grade teacher and I am very impressed with this place. Like I mentioned, I am an elementary teacher at a Montessori school. Part of the curriculum is that we should, at this age level, have many loved classroom pets that the children care for under supervision of the instructors. This year we have two rats among our menagerie of animals, and a few months ago, one developed a tumor on her side. Dr. Mills came to my classroom, took a look at our little friend, and immediately booked an appointment to have the tumor removed. When I went to the desk to pay the bill, there was not one. Dr. Mills did the exam, surgery, anasthesia and medication all at no cost because the little rat was a classroom pet!, (and she knows that teachers generally cannot fund rat surgeries!!!). When I thought it was all over, the OTHER rat fell ill over the winter break. Again, she took in my little friend and gave her the best care. I insisted that this time I would pay for it, but they are still giving me a break on the bill! Both times, I received a phone call at home from Dr. Mills herself, clearly explaining what the diagnosis and treatment options were. A lot of people had the attitude that it was "just a rat", but these rats are important to 29 school children who work hard to care for them, and learn a lot from doing so. Dr. Mills understood this, and now I have two happy rats (one is still recovering). I am so impressed that I will be bringing my dog there the next time she needs to be seen for a check-up. I am confident that she will get the best care possible. The office is very clean and well organized. Krista, at the front desk, is a sweetheart and very knowledgeable. They have a GREAT website that highlights their holistic approach, as well as their up-to-date equipment and diagnostic tools. Check it out at lcph.us! Thank you, Livermore Country Pet Hospital! I am so happy to recommend you, and I am SO pleased with the service I have received and the kindness and generosity you have showed me. The kids thank you as well. I am so relieved to know that on Monday, when we go back, everyone will be there safe and sound... including our little rat friends. The Walnut Room LOVES LCPH!!! Read Less

My pets have received excellent care from Dr. Mills.  It is too bad that they have not figured out how to take care of the pet owners!  Especially in the last ~2 years I have seen the customer service go way down.  No one answers the phone and you have to leave a message-- which may not get returned in a timely manner.  The office closes randomly without warning and no mention of it on their answering machine.  It is difficult to get appointments and their hours are very limited and inconvenient for working people.  To top it all off the prices have gone WAY UP since I started going here 9 years ago.  I mean WAY UP.  You can expect to pay absolute top dollor for everything, without any warning up front about how much services cost or any discussion of lower cost options. With service down and prices up I am now looking for another vet. Read Less

I am so very happy that I happened upon this pet hospital. They looked after my pet as if it were their very own, doing things for her that I didn't even ask.

I have been taking my very senior boxer here for a few years and up until now, I was very pleased with the care. I just called to say D, who has had kidney issues in the past, is "leaking" and laying in puddles of urine. They told me they could get us in on Thursday (it's Monday!) Time for a new vet. I really appreciate Dr. Mills experience, but 4 days for what I'd consider an important appointment is ridiculous! Read Less

Read Less
