Los Altos Veterinary Clinic

Los Altos, California
General Info
The Los Altos Veterinary Clinic in Los Altos harmonizes with the heartbeats of pets and their Californian owners. The room’s design helps you reach the state of motionless tranquility. Chairs are spaced to alleviate pressure. Exam tables continually change their structures to be easy to access and look at. Staff members measure the caregiver breathing rate, vocal pitch, and eye movement before the pets are allowed out in the play area because animals tend to examine their human for signals. The use of silence is purposeful and employed by choice. In some cases, it is advisable to start care through observation so that the cats and dogs can show decelerated patterns before any other aspect. Los Altos Veterinary Clinic utilizes integrative modalities to evaluate organ systems, pain thresholds, allergy status, hydration status and energy balance. It also lists the times of visitations because morning animals have to be able to handle a lot of stimuli, and late-day ones need to be observed in a quiet environment first. Low vocal interactions enhance the behavior of anxious dogs, while close-range vocalizations reduce the startle reflexes in cats. Post-visit care tips help owners as they use tonal patterns/rhythms regarding when to speak softly, stay away, put in sunlight or rest in a dark enclosed place. These patterns help to return the body and mind to their familiar baseline. The Los Altos Veterinary Clinic establishes a neurological link between pets and their owners to deliver veterinary care with clinical integrity and emotional coherence. The team offers specialized services, such as Behavioral Counseling, Boarding, Cardiology, and Cold Laser Therapy. Clients always praise the practice team for their dedication and individualized attention to pets. Whether it’s a routine checkup or major surgery, the clinic ensures your pet receives optimal care in a serene and friendly setting. Advanced services, including Emergency Care, In-House Pharmacy, Laser Therapy, Microchipping, and Orthopedic Surgery are available for seamless treatment.

You don't need my review to see what an excellent vet practice this is.  I will simply add that when your dog is chomping at the bit to get INTO the vet's office, then you're doing something right. I am a medical professional, so I appreciate how difficult it can be to get honest evaluations about your loved ones these days. Dr. Echerd and Dr. M are both consummate professionals and tell you the medical truth about pets. It may not always be what you want to hear, but you go to the doctor for honesty and breadth of experience, not half-truths. So many medical practices today function like CVS where the customer gets whatever they want because Google said so. That might work for shaving cream and make-up, but unless you want to put your pet's well-being in the hands of Google search engine, I'd stick with Dr. Echerd and his decades of experience.PS: special shoutout to the front desk staff. Honestly the most gracious, friendly, and accommodating people I have ever met (and I work at a large academic medical center where this doesn't exist). Read Less

Wonderful, quiet clinic, the staff - vet techs, receptionist - are great ! BUT, most important, is that Dr. Echard is an excellent caregiver for my two cats - he's always willing to discuss health issues, offers excellent advice, and will respond via e/m when necessary. His compassion and caring for the animals is very apparent. we never have to wait a long time to be seen: hey, if a previous client needs that extra time it's just fine with me, the next time it could be my pet who needs the extra time with Dr. E.). Dr. Echerd's clinic is a refreshing change from "that big one on El Camino" which is always busy, with lots of barking dogs and people waiting, waiting - and the few times I've been there in the past, there's always been a long wait to see the vets: that's too hard on my cats (or anybody's for that matter!). Dr. Glynn Echerd (and his staff) is the very best! We moved to Los Altos 24 years ago and took our dog Sniffy to see him within a week of living here. The first thing Dr. Echerd did was sit on the floor to pet our dog; we knew at that moment he was the vet for us. He is a compassionate and honest man as well as being a superb vet. Twenty Four years later, we are still trusting him to take care of our dogs! Recently we had to say goodbye to our beautiful 3 year old black lab who had an inoperable, aggressive form of cancer. The kindness showed to us by everyone at LAVC helped us during that very sad time. We highly recommend this wonderful vet!

Read Less

Our 11-week-old pup loved Dr. Echerd & the staff so much that she didn't even flinch with vaccinations and micro-chipping. Looking forward to more visits, treats, and advice for years to come!

He explains what's going on and what the treatment is in a knowledgable way but not in a super technical way. He makes us feel comfortable and takes great care of our dogs. Read Less

Brought our 4yo son with us for our dog's checkup so he could learn about how Vets care for animals. Without mention, Glenn instinctively engaged him, and even let him look through his ultra-cool (and expensive) opto-diagnostic thingamajig. No question Glenn's veterinary expertise is top notch, but his soft-skills are what sets him apart. He became a part of our family from day one, and I couldn't imagine a better experience for not only the animals, but the children that love them so. Read Less
