I brought my cat in for a normal flea treatment. Usually I just get the treatment and give it to him myself at home but I had to work in the evening so I thought it would be a good idea to board him over night so I could spray my apt before my work shift and clean before I brought him back in the next day. Worst mistake of my life. Everything seemed normal and ok until I picked him up. I wore a white sweater and the minute I got to my car I realized he was covered in flea dust and larvae, and there were live fleas on him. It was so bad the larvae, dust and fleas were falling onto my shirt and hands! I called the vet from my car and was told first that he shouldn't have live fleas still but when i told him that he may have aquired them in the boarding room his attitude changed and started to say the medicine wouldnt kill them all at once. So at that point i wanted to see a doctor to get a clear answer on how to handle the situation. Like i said i had only took him to board so i could spray my apt, he didnt have fleas and larvea falling off of him when i took him in. I had to come in and wait in line for other clients or make an appointment for 2.5 hours later.... so I walked in and had to sign in and waited over an hour to ask a question to the doctor. The doctor tried to tell me that my cat came infested but when I asked why they didn't do a bath before the treatment he couldn't answer. I told him I sleep with my cat and I did a very thorough inspection before I took him in. He had fleas and some dust but nothing to the extent of them falling off of him when he's lifted. In the end they just said they hadn't heard of the boarding area being flea infested and that I have to give him a bath in 3 days and go buy another treatment to give him.... And now instead of spraying my apt I have to bomb it to make sure those larvae die.... gee thanks also my poor cat won't stop scratching and clearly irritated. I don't know how to make him comfortable and it's my fault for leaving him there over night. Update! It's been 4 days since Sunday that I picked him up I took the day off work... I call the vet to let them know I'm going to pick up treatment. The receptionist puts me on hold to get into then tells me I can't get another treatment because my cat could overdose and i need to bring him in fpr am exam. I tell her that the doctor and receptionist on Sunday both told me that there is one that can be mixed with the one he was treated with and that I was informed to give him a bath and another treatment, that I did not want to bring him in as he was examed sunday. So she puts me on hold comes back and says the doctor said to wait 3 weeks then give him a bath and treatment so I ask if it's the same doctor that saw him Sunday she said no. So I ask if the receptionist male with glasses who was there Sunday and informed me was there today she says yes. I'm on hold and I'm starting to wonder what is going on with them? Do they not communicate or leave notes or anything?! So she comes back and says that yes I can go pick up a treatment name starting with an R, so I ask if it is for sure the one that CAN be combined she says hmmmm hold up...... I guess she checks and says yeah. But at this point I figured after all the confusion I shouldn't risk his life. We are both itchy but I'm going to give him the bath and fight what's left over with baking soda and baths. He had been itchy but I don't see fleas dust or larvae on him, I just feel guilty for leaving him there over night and I feel like I was cheated with my money, time and information on how to care for my cat. I called this awful establishment at 6:45 asking if I can come in with my dog who is crying in pain and extremely lethargic. I was told by the receptionist that if I arrived before 7:20 that she could be seen. I arrived at 7:10 with my dog and filled out paperwork, could not return my paperwork to the receptionist because she never came back to the desk. I waited until 8pm with a crying shaking dog. All while I could hear a screeching dog in an exam room, from the lobby. The receptionist disappeared for this entire time, 50 minutes... and at 8pm I left and went elsewhere. This place clearly does not care about animals as much as they care about closing on time. I went to VCA Animal Specialty Group instead and had prompt great service and care for my pup. My cat hadn’t been feeling well, and VCA — where I️ normally take my little girl did not have ER services (as I️ didn’t want to wait) the Techs and front desk were great...but I️ write this review BC she is no longer here with me. Callie had not eaten for a few days. Not lethargic. Not fussy. Not any less excited for life but that she seemed to not have much of an appetite. My gut told me to wait to see her regular doctor. But as any worried parent, if I️t were dire, I️ did not want to wait another minute...prolonging what might be a simple fix. This animal clinic/hospital definitely has outrageous costs/fees — but for your child, you’d pay I️t. Long story cut short. They rang me, said she was okay, had some antibiotics, and she should be fine. She was NOT fine. I️ immediately grew suspicious when they let me pick her up. I️ saw an IV hanging from Her — and as a RN — she was connected to an IV. This IV dosage was not regulated. In ANY ADULT a 1,000cc bolus can overwhelm any healthy adult. Again. That much fluid HAS to be slowly administered in. My kitten was a tiny girl, the runt of her litter when she was adopted. Only 7.5lbs fully soaked fresh out of a bath. I️ took her home, and she was WORSE than when I️ brought her in. I️ brought her home at 1930. I️ woke up at 0530 for my own shift ... only to see she had cuddled with me at some point in the evening and had passed. She had only been home for hours... Whatever happened. I️t happened there. I️ am absolutely certain they were the ones who caused her unfortunate passing. Fluid overload. Malpractice. Whatever. I️t was due to their neglect that my kitten is no longer here. Be cautious. Vaccines and grooming. I️ believe in my heart, this hospital is equipped to handle SIMPLE vaccines and grooming. And EVEN then...your fees and costs for these services will probably cost you a ridiculous amount. Read Less

Dr Sanjeev Kumar is very unprofessional. I took my cat in Saturday for a checkup as he has had a runny nose for the past week. The Dr said that it was very bad as he was only running from one nostril and ordered $500 in tests and medication. He told me I would get the results on Sunday. It is now Tuesday evening and I have not heard from him. I called the hospital and the nice woman on the phone told me he had left early today and he was the only one that could give me the results. He won't be in until Wednesday morning now to give me the results. Kumar should be ashamed of himself and the way he practices. This place is good for shots, grooming or anything that doesn't require the doctor himself. He is cold and clueless. I never meet a doctor/vet with a worse bedside manner. He actually made my dogs condition worse with a carless exam. My dog came in with a limp, moving slow and in pain. She left paralyzed on back left leg. I kept asking him what did he do and saying I'd never seen her like this before. He just ignored me like I was not speaking. He left before I could ask any other questions and just sent an assistant in with a big bill. I had to demand the Vet come back to talk to me. Meanwhile there is another upset customer at the counter complaining that the Vet didn't explain anything to him. I was really in shock. I called him when I got home. I was told he was in a meeting and would call me back. After 4 hours I called again and once again had to demand to talk to him. He only said he didn't do anything and that I saw him exam the dog. I asked him if he remembered that I kept saying to him that she had never not been able to move her a leg before. He said no. It went on and on. I think his only interest is to collect money as fast as possible. I don't see anything about him that says compassion, caring, animal lover or proficient at what he does. Never again.Read Less

I have never EVER had a bad experience here with treatment or anything. The doctors here are nothing but amazing. However, this review is directed ONLY at the front desk female. This evening I called at 7:30 and was told there will be no doctor on staff after 8. I arrived at 7:48 and immediately walked in and asked for help because my dog is sick. I asked for help to bring her in as we are unable to carry her from the parking lot. The female then proceeds to ask what I'm bringing her in for, and if I'm bringing her in for an exam. I responded to her yes I'm bringing her in for an exam she's sick. She then runs to the back as she mumbles that she doesn't think the doctor is gonna take us. She comes back out to me and again asks what I'm bringing her in for I then told her I'm bringing her in to be examined, she's sick. She responds with well I need to know why you're here! I need to know if the dog needs to be euthanized or examined. I reminded her again that I'm here for her to be examined. You know, I do personally work in the medical field. I know what it feels like to want to go home on time. I respect that, however if a patient comes in with someone they love or care for who is very sick have some compassion for the patient if not the family members. This individual is a reflection of people who are in this field for the money. If you had any sort of compassion you wouldn't be rude and disrespectful to your customers. But clearly that's something you lack. Read Less

So, I'm giving 3 stars instead of ONE, because the services here that my two dogs have had with their vaccinations and one time an emergency because my dog broke her leg had been "good" so that's why we keep going here and after years of being their patient I decided to take my two dogs to the groomer here, it was an asian lady that talked to us and the haircut in both of them look "good", but, here is the thing, the person on the front desk that gave us the dogs back said that one my dogs had a "little" cut but it was okay, and I even thanked her for letting us know, I didn't check that immediately, I did it when we came back home and it looks HUGE, like if she opened it up with a knife or something like that, I don't even what to imagine the pain that my little baby went through, it looks like a surgery,It bad bad....Second she said that the groomer found out when cleaning my other dog's ears that he might be getting an infection and that we needed to check that, so we decided to do that right after she said that because we got worried,We had to spend $74 more $34 for the consult and $40 for the drops for his ears. We came back home and didn't stop crying and shaking the whole time, the next day the same, he kept trying to scratch his ears and I could tell he was in pain, so my conclusion is that he actually didn't even had an infection, the thing is that this asian groomer that I made the mistake of not asking for her name, hurt him while cleaning his ears. He was perfectly fine before us taking them there, my dogs are my babies and finding out that they were in bad hands makes me so upset, I was thinking about calling them and complain or do something about it,If my dog keep complaining about his ears I will tho but I know they won't give my money back or anything like that, so I rather leave a review for the people thinking about taking their babies to the groomer here, JUST DONT DO IT, or figure out if the asian lady is gone. Our original vet told us our groomer was out for emergency. So they suggested this place since it was down the street from us. Our dog was in dire need of a haircut so we went to check it out. At first the area it was located at was grimy. Nonetheless, we went inside and it looked nice and the receptionist was very nice. We told her we wanted a grooming and after filling out the paper, one of the doctors checked our dog for anything bad and no, nothing. So then we spoke to the groomer who was a lady. We told her exactly how we wanted our dog groomed. At first, we were told our dog would be ready by 4-5 then the groomer tells us maybe 2-3. Which is it?! So I didn't mind as I was available during those times to pick up my dog. Time passed and it was time for me to pick up my dog. She looked normal and quite content in seeing me. So after i left and arrived home.. my dog was bleeding! on her left forefoot. I panicked as i never saw her bleed like that. So my boyfriend and mom cleaned her foot and noticed it was a cut. We've never had this problem before with our regular groomer. Days later, we noticed she has some wetness in her ears and keeps shaking them. We suspect an ear infection which she DID NOT have before her grooming here. Never again are we taking our dog here. Such negligence. Funny how the receptionist even told me that their groomer was one of the best and she always had many dogs lined up yet we had to deal with this mess. Read Less

My dog had been limping for approximately 2 weeks. He was unresponsive to pain medications so I elected to have a doctor examine it; I already figured they would recommend x-rays, so I went with a possible budget in mind (I am a veterinary student, so I am pretty confident in my judgment regarding what a reasonable diagnostic workup and associated costs may be). I did not tell the veterinarian I was a veterinary student since I expected him to provide me a competent service without knowing I have special interest in the field. After all, I was a fully-paying customer and expected no special treatment. Several things made be very angry with my visit1. The doctor did not perform a thorough physical exam. I am paying for it; that means take the time to perform a proper exam so that you won't miss a possible secondary and/or underlying disease.2. The doctor insisted my dog's limping was due to his front limb. I insisted he focus his exam on his left hind limb since I've been watching him for many weeks, but he quickly dismissed my judgment. I know he is a professional, but a diligent doctor takes into consideration the input of the client/patient. He has been observing my dog for less than 3 minutes, whereas I've been raising the little guy for 10+ years. The doctor's communication skills have much room for improvement.3. The doctor insisted I pay hundreds of dollars (about $400) to take a whole body x-ray and send it to a radiologist to take a look at it. The reason for this was that he was not comfortable reading the x-ray. He also stated that there could be other underlying problems, such as a heart disease.        Firstly, one of the many reasons why you perform a thorough physical examination is to localize the disease. My dog is obviously limping- why do you need a whole-body x-ray? That is clearly unnecessary usage of diagnostics. And if you think the problem is in the heart, then you would have picked up something during auscultation of my dog's chest.        Secondly, if he doesn't feel comfortable reading x-rays, then he should seriously attend conferences to work on his radiology skills (every veterinarian is required by law to continue attending annual conferences to keep up with advancement in the field).     Thirdly, I would not pay that much for x-rays at this low-cost clinic. Other clinics offer the same service for a more competitive price (and better service).4. Lastly, the veterinarian offered to deduct the doctor's examination fee in his attempt to sell me the x-ray package. What kind of message is this sending? His attempt to not charge for an exam devalues this skill that is so critical to a veterinary patient! Some of you may think this is not a big deal and that the doctor was actually doing a good thing by offering me a discount, but veterinary students study for years to obtain the skills and knowledge required to do a proper physical exam. Being able to do a physical exam is one of the KEY values of a veterinarian. A proper visit ALWAYS starts with a thorough exam (always demand a thorough physical examination form your veterinarian, unless your pet needs to be stabilized first; you are paying for this when you pay for the doctor's visit). His offer to remove the cost of the doctor's visit lessened his overall value as a veterinarian.Overall, I feel the veterinarian did a disservice to the profession and to me, as a paying client.I would have given the place 1 star, but gave it an extra star for the kind support staff. Horrendous practice. My dog was losing hair due to seasonal allergies last summer and the vet wanted me to do a blood test and later advance to an allergy test. He did a blood test, which cost $300, and when the results got back to me, I consulted another vet friend of mine after googling what the results meant... Pup's glucose levels could not be as low as 10mg/dL, as it said on the test results. That would mean he had such low blood sugar that he would be having seizures, when in reality, it was just a little hair loss. I called the veterinarian and he claimed that he had indeed spun the blood, but didn't send the results out until night. He defended this as standard procedure, that they did this all the time. That doesn't sound very good to me... That they would screw up all these blood tests so majorly. I switched over to a new vet and they looked over the blood test. They too agreed that these results could not be right at all, as my dog was showing no symptoms of low blood sugar, and was not having seizures as the results indicated. Don't go here. They may be cheaper than other vet clinics, but you may be getting ripped off big time if you settle for this less than subpar clinic. Read Less

As the dog was extremely dehydrated was strucken by some unknown infection that at night while we slept he pooped blood. they demand that he paidI which my father said that he was going to get the money in hopes that they would at least give the shot to the dog to help him stablize and so my father left to go get the money by the time he returned they never gave the dog the iv shot and willingly allow our dog die until he paid. So when he paid after a short while they told him the dog had died he was infuriated they had the chance of saving our dogs life but because of payment allow our dog to die!!! They refused to show him the iv shot supposedly that was used and yet they had the audacity of wanting to keep the money when they never did anything in the first place to save our dogs life. I really had a bad experience last time I was here.  I had been coming for seven years and then a new vet who I never saw before (possibly Sikh guy) examined my dog.  He was really insensitive.  I don't need much in the way of sensitivity, but I was taken aback when he sprung "my dog's kidneys are no good" on me.  This was based on a test they did A YEAR AGO and NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT.  I think there might be a cultural barrier in terms of his bedside manner.  He might not mean any harm, but he definitely tried to charge me more for the procedure and then lowered the price when I was going to walk away.  It was a hundred dollars less than he quoted me on the sign right out front. My 2 star review isn't because they harmed my dog, but I am just totally uncomfortable going back given this experience.  I need a vet that isn't trying to nickel and dime me.  Otherwise I can't trust him with my dog's life. Within two of the faux second story windows, you will see a bas relief of a long coated cat gazing out his window on the left, and on the right a dog. The place doesn't look like much on the outside, but the care our pup received here (It was a Sunday, it was an emergency visit) was exceptional and reasonably priced. The staff was soothing, professional and caring. The vet was kind, clearly very knowledgeable and communicated well with us, as we were nervous wrecks since our puppy had gotten into some poisonous chemicals. Jackie, the vet assistant who is the one to shuttle the pets between the exam rooms and the waiting area, was so calm and kind that it made all the difference in our state of anxiety. I see people have said they cost too much, but it seems that everyone thinks vets cost too much. I found their fee for this type of emergency visit to be reasonable and did not feel like they were gouging me at all. Lastly, they're remodeling the inside, so don't judge this book by its very well-worn cover. They are open Sundays and are a solid, all-around animal care clinic. This place is the worse place to take your pet!!! They don't care about any pets! All they care about is taking people's money. We took my dog to get blood test done on Saturday and they were suppose to get back to us on Sunday they closed at 6 pm and never got back to us. My dog is very sick and we don't know what the hell is wrong with her because no one got back to us now we are about to take her to the ER. This place is like taking your dog or pets to a garbage can and just dumping your pets there. Horrible service. Dog had surgery here and they couldn't follow simple instructions that were given. DON'T EVER BELIEVE WHAT THEY TELL YOU ESPECIALLY ABOUT BULLDOGS. Need a place strongly recommend Yorba Linda regional dog hospital. Best vet hospital I've ever gone too!!! Read Less

When I first brought my dog here, I was pleased with the actual vets who came in to give him his check up. They were kind, and gentle with our dog. I wasn't pleased at all though with the level of cleanliness, and had one visit that left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth. My fiance and I have a Siberian husky, and when he was getting his shots, they brought in an intern to take care of it. Now, I am all about interns gaining experience and learning their trade well, but I was not okay with the way she handled herself. When an experienced technician gave her the needle to give our puppy his shots, she started freaking out a little and saying things like "Omg I don't want to hurt him, I don't want to do it, I don't want to do it, I'm afraid". As legitimate as these feelings are, I don't know a single animal owner who would be comfortable with their pet going into the hands of an unsure/nervous intern who has a large needle in her hand. Needless to say,as a result of these factors and few others, we have changed our vet location. Read Less

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I took my dog here after he was attacked by a street dog. My dog had several puncture wounds on his body and he was losing a lot of blood. I took him before because it was the only vet that was around my area that was open that day.I get there and explain to the nurse what had happened and she took my dog to the back to the doctor. She told us to take a seat and the doctor would see him. We waited for like an hour till we finally talked to the doctor. The Indian guy with the turban told us pretty much nothing. He came into the room and showed us the bill. He said it would cost us $1000 for some X-rays, anesthesia, and they would just need to stitch him up. He told us we could pay cash or apply for a credit card. That was it!! He never told us if they're were any punctured organs or if my dog was okay, Nothing! So I asked all that I wanted to know and I specifically asked if my dog was going to be okay, if he was going to make it. The man told me that my dog was going to be fine and that all he needed to do was stitch up the wounds. But that I had to leave him there over night. No personnel stays overnight with the animals but he said that they take good care of the animals and leave them with everything they need. They didn't start the procedure right away. They literally waited until I payed the $1000.So I left my dog there and went home feeling relieved because the vet had said my dog was okay and I could pick him back up the next day.The next day they called me early morning and told me that my dog had passed away during the night. I went back down there furious!! Why would they tell me that my dog was okay but the next day I am told my dog died?! They nurses were so unprofessional and insensitive. They were smiling the whole time I was asking for an explanation. They told me they didn't know what happened and that if I wanted an explanation I would have to wait until next week when the vet returned because he was not going to be there. I was furious at their lack of professionalism. Finally we spoke to the owners of the place and they were apologetic. They said they didn't know what happened but they refunded us our money. I was still devastated because I lost my best pal that day. And no one was able to give me any answers. PLEASE PLEASE people, don't take your pets here. It is such a horrible place and such terrible staff. I sure wish I could go back in time and never take my buddy there. Read Less

We so grateful for the great care they took with our 8 month old kitten  Miss Molly Minxy . We normally go to another clinic but ...read my previous review. The staff was friendly,  kind and caring. She had a really bad eye infection so they prescribed /gave us eye drops and antibiotics. We actually had to bring her back to Ambassador two days later because the infections switched to the other eye! She was lethargic not eating and not herself. By then she was running a fever of 104  They then gave her an IV and did some blood work to check for something serious ( everything turned out normal). That night she was back to her perky kitten- like behavior.....into everything,  eating like a truck driver and pooping like one too!  From then till the time we went back for her 7 Day check up Dr Choi called twice to check on her which was extremely thoughtful and kind.Fingers crossed that we won't have to go back any time  soon but if we did we would definitely patronize this business again. Long overdue review of this pos excuse of animal hospital. Honestly, this place should be inspected for misconduct involving misdiagnose and uncoordinated staff who knowingly charge people for unnecessary exams. My wife and I took in a alley kitten that was abandoned by her mother. It was the only surviving one from a litter of four. We thought of taking to animal shelter but we decided why not just adopt her. We bottle fed her and nursed her. She was playful and eating well but after a week, I noticed one of her eyes were different. So I took her to this animal hospital to make sure nothing was wrong. The Indian doctor diagnosed her and gave her a shot, saying nothing seemed to be wrong. So we took her back and she was fine until two days later. She stopped eating. We immediately took her back to this place and the same Indian doctor said that she had fluid in her lungs. I asked him what are the treatment options and he gave her some shots and sent us on our way back.We were worried about her and kept  checking up on her. She stopped playing and just kept sleeping. She would eat a little but she would have a hard time. Then she started wheezing as if she was having a hard time breathing. My wife took our kitten next day and a different vet said they needed to give her an X-ray to see what was wrong. After the $250 xray, the vet diagnosed our kitten with having fluid in her lungs. Same thing as the Indian guy, but this lady didn't even want to check the previous diagnosis. Now out $450 from previous visits and the useless x-ray on a sick little kitten, (Honestly who x-rays a 3-4 week old kitten) the vet just gives our kitten some shots and sends my wife on her way. I pick my wife up and saw how ****ing awful my kitten was. Looked as if it was getting worse every time we took her to this place. I was furious and went back next day and talked with the vet. All he said was she had a 60% chance of surviving and she was too young to have surgery. Honestly, what kind of pos people work at this place. If you can't fix her, don't give us false hope and make the poor animal suffer. It was heartbreaking seeing my little angel gasping for breath and I won't forget how she came out of the cage and sat on my lap as if to tell me she is suffering and wanted me to stop her pain. She died that night.I regret ever taking my kitten to this pos of an excuse place and if you care about the well being of your pet. I advise you not to take it to this dump. Read Less

Read Less

I've been coming here for years because the reasonable fees but beware.    I brought my dog in today knowing she was sick.   She was walking when I brought her in.  The doctor examined my dog, touching and putting pressure on her spine.  Now I left with a dog that can't walk.    He did something to further injure her spine.  When I kept telling him that she never was like that before this visit he just ignores me.  I'm still trying wrap my head around what happened today and figure out what to do.  I didn't have enough money to do everything they wanted todo today like x rays.  After we had the plan modified they where just going to let me leave with out further conversation.  I had to cause a seen to get the doctor to talk more.  Still with no explanation why my dog was now more injured after his exam.  I'm thinking about calling a lawyer friend.  This is so wrong.

Read Less

My father went to get my dog treated on Mar 11 by 9:10am but as he asked that they give the dog iv shot. I would never recommend anyone to take their pets there if they are in a life threatening state. All we can do is lament our dogs passing. PEOPLE WITH NO COMPASSION FOR AN ANIMAL. This building is quite interesting architecturally! Note the amazing custom made, and extremely old sign on the roof, on which you may note the name of the original veterinarian. Within two of the faux second story windows, you will see a bas relief of a long coated cat gazing out his window on the left, and on the right a dog. Looking at the entire package it appears everything is period correct, and that it was purpose built to order for the man who bore the name on the sign. The final witness to this possibility are the two doggie fountains built into the base of the building! Read Less

They make you feel comfortable and the super-nice staff cannot be under-rated when you're in this situation.

Read Less

The animal hospital is filthy, you walk in and there is pee on the ground consistently. they insisted on doing the tests on my dog in a separate room without you watching. I'm in the process of filing a lawsuit. Stay away if you love your pet Read Less

Dr. Kumar has been my veterinarian for quite a while. He's a very polite man. My cat is dead now, but my cat got FIP, an infectious disease that pretty much can't be cured. I didn't bring my cat for his check ups and thought he (my cat) was okay and brought him in way too late. I don't blame Dr. Kumar. On his pet hospital, Ambassador hospital's page, people were complaining that they killed their pet. Pets get diseases and die. I miss my cat, but life goes on.My family has a dog now, and we bring him for check ups way more often and our dog is very healthy. Read Less
