I've been a client of Brent Air for almost 12 years, so this review is long overdue!  This is the only vet I've ever found that checks all my many boxes. They've helped me care for my 2 cats and 3 dogs, and I always know if it's something they recommend that my pet needs done then it's because they either definitely need it done or most likely need it done.  One time after ASEC (animal emergency) discharged my cat after 3 days recommending my regular vet do a non-emergency surgery on her, Brent Air recommended against it and saved me $2,500, and they had been right, the cat didn't need it.Brent Air is also really committed to helping rescue groups and independent rescuers by giving them a discount so they can continue to save more animals.  I've been volunteering for dog rescues for almost 15 years and I've never felt that any of the other vets I had been to were as thorough, knowledgeable or professional as the vets here are; they've helped me to save dozens of dogs and they don't treat me like any less of a client because they give those dogs a reduced rate.And of course the front desk staff and vet techs - always courteous and always happy to help!  They follow up on each of my visits within a few days to make sure the animal is doing better.I would recommend Dr. Schlanger & Dr. Hervatic, they are the two vets I always ask for. So disappointed and hurt. I left my dog with them for a week during Christmas, as my family and I would be on vacation. When we picked up my dog she had poop on her back end, her nose was beat up with abrasions, and she was much skinnier. I have no idea how these people took care of her, but I know they didn't do it well. My dog is doing better now, but It is really disappointing to trust someone with a beloved pet and to come back and see she was mistreated. Never again will my dog stay at this place. Read Less

I really love this place...every doctor and assistant I dealt with, up to and including the receptionists, were, without fail, helpful and friendly. I started going to them because my shelter dog had been there before, but I live too far away to keep going. It's just not do-able to have to drive an hour each way, otherwise I would definitely have stayed with them. I've had such a bad time with vets in Los Angeles that I was completely stressed when my cat got sick yesterday. Thank goodness I decided to try Brent-Air Animal Hospital.  Dr. Kevin Schlanger and Flynnie got my cat all fixed up in record time and had such good energy that my cat was more calm than I've ever seen him at the vet. I took my new rescue dog here as I had a free appointment via the adoption agency. I had taken him to VCA previously, since the appointment time here was a few weeks out from his adoption date. I had a great experience at VCA, but wanted to meet a few vets before deciding on one. After coming to Brent-Air, I regret looking around. While the front desk staff was extremely friendly, I won't be coming back because of the vet I worked with. My questions and concerns went unaddressed, the vet continually tried to sell me things I've been told aren't necessary. I felt like my dog didn't get the care he deserved because it was a free appointment. My dog (who is usually sweet and loving) was nervous and afraid of being picked up for a few days after his appointment, which is very unlike him. He didn't react like this after going to VCA, so I know there was a difference in the way he was treated. I don't think the animals well-being is the vet's first priority, and for that reason I won't be returning. It's frustrating to have a veterinarian continually try to sell you on things when they aren't even addressing your concerns with those sells. Front staff and wait time are the reason this isn't a one-star review. I wouldn't take my dog back here if every appointment was free. Read Less

We have returned to Brent-Air! I spent the last few years with my pup following an amazing vet around West LA but she moved to a new practice that was a little farther away so here we are. We visited Dr. Pang the other day and she's great. She answered my questions and was able to advise on best next steps. I am giving this vet a 4 star because they fit me in the same day for an appointment. Otherwise, they are more like a 3.5 star. My puppy had a broken nail and it would not stop bleeding. The wait at my usual vet was too long. The tech was great, but I wasn't impressed with the veterinarian. Hands-down the best animal hospital in WLA.  Dr Schlanger and his team are amazing.  They are friendly, easy with the animals and attentive.  Dr Schlanger is no-nonsense and he won't recommend unnecessary tests.  He takes a conservative, knowledgeable approach to caring for your pet.  Brent-Air also works with animal rescue agencies to help them treat their animals while controlling their costs.  They treat and care-for many animals that would have been put-down at area shelters.I highly recommend Brent-Air.  And they keep a tight schedule - I have never had to wait more than a few minutes past my arrival time. I had my first experience with Brent-Air a few days ago, and I feel very confident that I have made the right place for my dog's needs. My appointment was able to be set up with ease and they took me in right on time. The hospital is clean and organized, but it would be nice if they had a larger parking lot. Dr. Pang did a general examination of my dog and thoroughly explained everything as she went along. I was concerned that my pooch's inability to lose weight despite a minimal diet might be due to a thyroid issue, and Dr. Pang suggested that it might actually just be that her food needed to be changed to a specifically weight reduction based one. She wrote up a helpful packet of information about dog obesity and the max amount of calories that my dog should be eating per day. I am looking forward to future visits at Brent-Air and am very thankful for Dr. Pang's and the staff's friendly help! Read Less

The staff and care at Brent-Air is truly top notch. I lived in LA for about two years and took my cat William to them for everything from routine grooming to a pre-air travel check up certification. I also called them when he had ingested a large piece of string and was incredibly worried and afraid. I talked to Dr. Schlanger and after I explained all of the events, he assured me that everything should be okay. Additionally, he followed up the next day to ensure that he was back to normal. I work in a job that is heavily dependent on great client relationships and going above and beyond with supreme customer service; because of this I place a high value on these traits in the service providers that I utilize. Brent-Air is a phenomenal example of not only providing reliable service, but going above and beyond in customer care. We saw Dr. Pang after hearing about them at a doggy 5K called Strut your Mutt. The facility is open and spacious with a large waiting area, candy, coffee, and water is available. I thought Dr. Pang was super nice and very patient. She took her time and really addressed our concerns. A great doctor!The front desk staff seemed super busy and a little on the slow side but were nice enough. Their prices seem a bit higher than Banfield (68 for an office visit vs. 50) but I think you get more quality care and time with the doctor. We will likely be back! Read Less

- Caring nurse and doctors- Professional staff- Clean waiting room and examination room- Genuinely cares for your pets with follow-up callsI adopted my dog (Bentley) through Wags and Walks and Brent-Air Animal Hospital came highly recommended. I brought him in for a visit because of a possible ear infection. Wags and Walks helped make a last minute appointment for me and got a spot within the next couple of days.As a new patient I filled out a few forms and didn't have to wait too long to be seen. The waiting room was clean, spacious and the staff was professional. The appointment with Dr. Pang was a generous 45 min to 1 hour. She was thorough in checking Bentley's ears (since that was the primary reason of the visit) and event took him into another room to look deeper into his ears and administer an ear wash. She was also knowledgeable and patient in answering all of my first-time dog owner questions. Within the next day or so someone from Brent-Air Animal Hospital called to check up on Bentley's ears. I really appreciated that follow-up call. When I called back I was able to talk to Dr. Pang with additional concerns because Bentley had symptoms of Kennel Cough. Dr. Pang put my worries at ease and answered my list of questions. I even asked Dr. Pang to email me a recommended caloric intake for Bentley and I received it that day from the staff.This hospital is highly recommended from my first-time experience. Brent-Air was recommended by my dog walker after I moved to Los Angeles.   We had a sick boxer and instead of coming here I took her to a closer vet clinic and was extremely disappointed in her treatment.  Unfortunately, their failure to properly diagnose her cancer resulted in delays in treatment.  By the time we got her to Brent -Air the treatment options were extreme.  But our vet looked at her and immediately said she needed surgery.  the surgery was successful, but she developed additional tumors and subsequently was put down.  We also have two Mini Aussies and all of our dogs have received exceptional care with all of the staff at Brent-Air.  I highly recommend them!-Suzanne T.Marina del Rey Read Less

I Love both doctors I have taken my golden too! He has a tumor on his heart and has had to have it tapped 3 times. This procedure isn't easy and Dr. MUSTAKAS literally saved his life twice! I rescued a Weimaraner puppy at 8wks back in November of last year. I brought him to see Dr Schlanger after the rescue recommended him. Puppies are wonderful but A LOT OF WORK!!! The staff at Brent-Air Animal Hospital have continually been helpful to us and our pup- they send newsletters keeping you updated on what?s happening, you can call in a last minute appointment and they will do everything to try to fit you in, they give honest recommendations on products and don?t try to push you to buy anything, and they are always smiling and remember their patients and their family. We brought our dog in and Dr. Schlanger wasn?t available, so being neurotic I was hesitant. We saw Dr. Amy who is also amazing! Our weim had problem after problem starting from his adoption: UTI- check!, sensitive stomach- check!, Giardia from the dog park ? check!, and we?re not negligent dog owners by any means! Now after a little bit of trial and error, he?s eating the right food for his sensitive stomach, and taking vitamins to help strengthen his vulnerable puppy immune system. With all of this, they have been great for us as first-time dog owners (without parental involvement) and our dog loves to see them. Our family has been bringing our 4 dogs to Dr. Kevin Schlanger for many years. We have never been happier with a veterinarian than we are with him. Our dogs aren't even afraid of him! He has provided the most excellent care and always with a reassuring smile and great sense of humor. He is 100% in favor of rescuing dogs, and even brings his own rescued dogs with physical handicaps to work with him every day. One of them, named Foxy, is a tiny mutt with a leg which bends backwards at the knee. Dr. Schlanger is a loving and very caring professional, towards all animals and their owners. A few years ago it became necessary to euthanize our very old French Bulldog. She had been extremely sick, was deaf, blind and unable to move. My family was in tears when we brought her in. Dr. Schlanger helped us dramatically with our decision, reassuring us that it was an appropriate step to take based on her old age and completely deteriorated condition, and he gave us plenty of time to digest his words, and ask questions. At no time did I ever find him to be anything less than kind, knowledgeable and with great patience and understanding towards our loss. My cat has been a patient at Brent Air Animal Hospital for several years. The male vet has been patient, seemingly diligent and I can usually get a quick appointment, but the support staff is so rude that I dread speaking to them as I check in and out! My last visit has sent me looking for a new vet. The female vet prescribed the medication Comfortis (a flea medication only approved for Dogs at this time) for my CAT, telling me she personally uses it on her cats and its fine. Well, it turns out that according to many reviews online, small dogs are having seizures and worse from this medication. There is no way I'm using my cat as a test animal. I rely on my vet to give me the best possible advice about how to care for my cat. I could never return to Brent Air with 100% confidence. Read Less

Brent-Air Animal Hospital has treated all of our hundreds of rescued dogs and cats for the last four years. I personally refer my friends and total strangers to go there, as well as taking my own dogs and cats there for treatment. Dr. Schlanger, Dr. Oxford, and their bright, friendly and attentive staff have been caring and compassionate with the treatment of our animals at all times. If they can't do a medical procedure, they are the first to refer us to other qualified surgeons or oncologists. They also always recommend we get a second opinion if we have doubts about a diagnosis. They are hardly an ""in it for the money"" veterinary practice, in fact, they are just the opposite. They have taken in many injured, stray animals who have been dumped there, and treated them on their own dime. I know this for a fact as we often help them find forever homes for these very same animals. I know about puppy mills, I hate them, and our organization is working hard to help eradicate them nationwide. I also know ALL animals need medical care, and there are many vets in Los Angeles who have special deals with pet stores to treat their animals. Some are scrupulous, some are not. I'm absolutely certain Dr. Schlanger falls under the former category. He and his staff''s only goal is to help animals, no matter where they come from. They cannot and should not be faulted for that. I have been bringing my Maine Coon cat and 2 Dalmatians to Dr. Schlanger for the past two years. One of my dogs is extremely skittish and has been known to bite out of fear. Dr. Schlanger is so patient with her and really takes the time to make sure that my animals have a positive experience when they visit the vet. The receptionists are so pleasant and helpful when bring my animals in. This is the first vet's office that my animals actually look forward to visiting instead of having to be dragged through the door. I really appreciate the fact that the doctors and the rest of the staff are so nice when I call up with a million questions about my animals. I never feel like I am being a bother even though I am sure that they have to answer the same silly questions day after day. I think they do a great job. I have been going to Brent-Air Animal Hospital for 4 years with my two dogs and I can say that it is the best animal hospital I have ever been to! The staff is so friendly and caring, the doctors are so thorough and nice--you can really tell that they love your pets. Dr. Schlanger always takes the time to answer all of my questions and gets right back to me whenever I call. I have even paged him in the middle of the night, and he spent time with me on the phone, told me what I needed to do for my dog, and then followed up the next day to make sure everything was okay! And I really appreciated the fact that he didn't tell me that I had to come in when everything was fine and saved me a visit and a bill! The hospital is always spotless, there is never a long wait, and they can always fit me in at the last minute. And when I come in, the front office staff and the techs make you feel like you are their most important client. I have also seen Dr. Oxford when I have to come in late after work or on a Saturday and she always takes the time to review everything that has been going on with my animals and is so patient and kind. I also use them for boarding and grooming and my dogs are always so happy when I bring them in. They wag their tails when they see Dr. Schlanger and give him kisses!
