I just want to say thank you to Eric, who I belive is the nurse! My cat, Tygrys, is exrimaly scared and afraid of people and won't let anyone to pet him. He got really sick and needed to be under I.V. for a few days and transported between day and night clinics. I came to visit and feed my cat and Eric came to talk to me. When he hold my cat, the cat trully was comfortable with him. I have never seen my cat being so comfortable with a stranger, he always runs away. I understant that he couldn't run away in the clinic, but he was really happy on Eric's hands! The whole hospitalization experience was so stresful for my cat, so thank you Eric for being so amazing! I recently came here with my distraught girlfriend about her cat that was in bad shape. The cat was lethargic, in pain, weak, and the cause was unknown. This kitty was very loved, she was treated well and yet was still prone to something. The moment we arrived the lady in the front desk reacted to the cat being so motionless. I commend her for her sense of urgency but that is where the praise ends. Instead of running a check that is covered by the consultation on what the cat has, instead of giving us options, instead of trying to work with us on figuring some way to get the cat stable, they confront us with a request for a deposit of $500. They didn't treat the cat or offer to run simple blood work or any alternative tests to see which ones we could do and only told us what we already knew, the kitty was in shock. They insisted that treatment or even testing was going to be at least $1000 and only after seeing our face of despair did they offer euthanasia. If you come here be prepared to drop money before they give your pet stabilizing treatment or even a cheaper option. They will not offer alternatives or cheaper options. They will not do payment plans. Money is priority here. Read Less

I brought a dog in yesterday that had belonged to a homeless woman and had been hit by a car, the poor dog was suffering. I drove all over to find a 24 hour hospital, meanwhile the dog was in terrible pain. Finally I found this clinic and as I walked in the woman at the counter rudely said β€œNo we are not taking anything.” I explained the situation and she turned the poor dog away, said I needed to pay for everything up front and leave a 500 dollar deposit. This woman didn’t seem to care that an animal was in pain, she had the means to stop his pain yet chose money over humanity. There was no apology, no warmth, just told me to go to the shelter. I went to North Central Animal shelter where he was greeted with kindness and they thanked me for helping the poor little guy. This happened at almost five o-clock, had North Central Animal shelter closed, this poor dog would have suffered to death. Eagle Rock animal hospital prefers profit over kindness, I understand that it’s a business but human kindness and descency to animals should be priority number one. Read Less

This is a genuine emergency facility to take your animal in the middle of the night for a real emergency. They are only open when most vets are closed, something like 8pm to 8am, but don't quote me on that. They are very kind but more importantly they understand triage and know what do in an emergency situation. You can call them if need be and tell them your situation and they might be able to give you advice if you unsure how to proceed. Its not cheap, but they'll tell you costs as quickly as they can. They don't over charge as far as I'm concerned. Expect to pay minimum $300 if they begin to work on your animal. They are very competent and they truly care, but just understand bills can get high very quickly so tell them if you have limited funds. We feel lucky to have to this place so close. We've had to use them a few times and I don't know what we would have done if they weren't around. Read Less

I have been here on a few occasions. It is an er so expect to wait unless it's a dire emergency. I've waited 4-6 hours a number of times. They gave me a discount for not complaining both times, haha. I'm sure they get a lot of irate people. But all the times I've gone we've gotten great care. Very informative and a lot of times they give me more information than our regular vet. The last time we went we decided to put our 12 yr old to sleep. Her heart was failing and they saw her right away. Sound opinions and loving not care. I'm thankful. Read Less

Our Addisonion goldendoodle was hospitalized here after her diagnosis. In general, we are very disappointed with the quality of care she received for two nights. In a nutshell, good vets, but the health care is severely offset by low-quality technicians and a run-down facility. Here's the breakdown:1. A technician reported the wrong lab results to our regular Vet over phone causing unnecessary confusion and worry. 2. They did not perform a critical electrolyte check when scheduled because they were busy with other animals. 3. They did not notice her IV had popped out and was not hydrating her. We don't know how long she was off saline, which is critical after an Addison's diagnosis. The IV site was also severely irritated due to this.4. They told us when we picked her up that they had just taken her out to pee. When we arrived to our regular Vet, her bladder was completely full.5. She was covered in pee when we picked her up, suggesting that they don't take them out when they are supposed to.6. Extremely long wait times. Waited two hours before we could talk to a Vet when we dropped her off. After relaying the story to our regular Vet in Pasadena, she recommended that we go elsewhere. Read Less

Well, start by: saved my dog's life, so....what more to say? Actually lots more to say: we could hear them working on our dog, which aside from totally freaking us out gave us a good sense of the intensity and teamwork with which Dr. Gupta and his crew were working. Dr Gupta's post-operation explanations and guidance showed a lot of detail and great care both for us and for our dog. I couldn't be more grateful both to him and to his team. The prices were fair and all were warm and caring. Our dog needed a day of post-op observation at TLC. The doctor there also expressed her admiration for the amazing work that Eagle Rock Emergency had done -- it was obvious she was impressed. Β I should add that, sadly, 2.5 years ago I brought a dog here with a much sadder result. :( But, that said, even though I've experienced both the good and the bad here, in both cases the care was impeccable. Thanks Dr. Gupta. Read Less

What a terrible place. We went to EREPC last night at 1:00am with an emergency situation on our hands. Although we were the only patients in the waiting room, the staff was barely civil and oh my god, the vet, Dr Gilbert, could not have been less cooperative or understanding. He also showed no care whatsoever for my little dog, who was shaking because she was so scared. He took her out back, (they would not even check her vitals in the consultation room, despite the fact that she was terrified), and asked me to go and wait in the waiting room. After 30mns, he sent my dog back out with the receptionist (who was also a piece of work), and himself never bothered coming out to let me know his diagnosis. In fact, I was given zero instructions or feedback on her health. I hope I never have to go back there again. Read Less

This hospital was amazing to my dog. Brought her in after a dog fight, as she needed stitches around her head and ear. Dr. Gupta did the surgery and leading up to it treated Mika with compassion and genuine care for her condition. I would like to add - we visited another vet hospital near Korea Town before this and they were very unfriendly and gave us an outrageous estimate that ended up costing 3 times more than what our estimate was at Eagle Rock Vet Hospital. I came here earlier this week with my 2-year-old cat worrying that he might have a UTI because I had noticed he was having a great deal of trouble peeing every time he went to use the litter box. Concerned that his condition might be urgent or life-threatening, I decided to visit the emergency clinic late at night. I was quickly greeted by the receptionist/vet tech, who was extremely helpful and reassuring from start to finish. After providing my cat with a quick and thorough assessment, she concluded that his condition was not life-threatening and assured us that we could safely wait to take him to our regular vet the next morning. After the exam, she waited patiently while I consulted with a friend and decided which treatment option to pursue for my cat. After my cat was able to get treated by the vet the next morning, I am certain that the emergency clinic saved us at least several hundred dollars by letting us know about the high cost of emergency care and assuring us that we could wait to take our cat to the vet the next morning. I really appreciated seeing that they had my cat's best interest at heart while also being conscious of the high cost of emergency care. I found this place. Im going to summarize or else I am going to write paragraphs. Long story short they were short staffed. I waited all day and saw people come and go and they attended me last. It was such a ridiculous wait. I asked if I could be put on the list and she said I had to wait there. The tv was off and they didnt even offer me water after being there so long. They literally had the take it or leave it attitude. The reason why Im even giving 2 stars is because when they finally saw me the vet was very nice and helped my poor doggy. If I could give this clinic 10 stars, I would :-) THE DOCTOR AND MANAGER SAVED OUR DOG'S LIFE. WE HAVE THE UTMOST APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO SEND TO YOU GUYS!!!Our dog needed an emergency C-Section as she was giving birth. Despite the fact that she was able to give birth to the first two puppies, due to her being older than supposed to be (it was an accidental pregnancy), she was not able to give the birth naturally to the other puppies. I looked around a good 30 - 50 mile radius from Calabasas to Pasadena down to Downtown Los Angeles and Marina Del Rey. I spoke with 7 - 8 clinics and read hundreds of reviews. We did not plan on a surgery since the first time she gave birth, she was able to do it naturally (this was her second litter.)Most clinics I spoke with quoted us astronomic prices and they were not willing to work with us in terms of the schedule as this entire fiasco was occurring at 11:00PM on a Sunday night. The situation turned into a real emergency because the first puppies came hours ago and our dog was not able to push the other puppies out ... there is obviously a limit to how much time can pass. From the first call, Bruce who oversees the clinic agreed to accommodate us on such short notice and allowed us to bring our Yorkie in at 1:00AM. He was also the only person I spoke with that asked important questions such as: Has the dog's bloodwork been done, x-rays, etc ... None of the other clinics had done this.Dr. Gupta then informed us and re-iterated that it is important her bloodwork and x-rays are to be done. She was taken in immediately. Approximately 5 - 6AM, we got a call that the surgery went well and our dog was alive.Once we picked her up, Bruce gave us a detailed breakdown of the follow up protocol that must be followed in terms of healing - when the appropriate antibiotics are to be taken, etc, etc. The kind of thorough work your team did is absolutely amazing! We sincerely appreciate all the work you have done for Molly and we truly recommend you to anyone needing emergency care for their animal. It was very difficult for us to find such experts, particularly at a time of critical emergency on a Sunday night.AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR SAVING OUR DOG'S LIFE!!! Read Less

In 2002 my 13 lb dog was attacked by a large american pit. I mention the breed not because I believe they are any more dangerous than any untrained dog, but only so you may visualize the size of those powerful jaws crunching into the back of a small dog. I waited for hours until they saw her. She was finally seen only to be LITERALLY thrown into my lap by a smirky pouty vet assistant who said "she bit me!". Β My dog yelped with incredible pain. I was told that she only had the puncture wounds. I was provided x-rays (see photo). You can clearly see that one of her ribs had detached from her column bone! You can imagine in what kind of pain my dog was in. I have no medical training and I'm dumbfounded that NONE of the staff who saw the Xray, including the vet on duty, saw this. When I took her to my regular vet the next day, I pointed out the rib and he couldn't believe they had missed it. To this day I can't imagine anyone having such little understanding and care for animals and for their caregivers. It all seemed so callous and cruel. If this is the closest emergency vet hospital to you, I would recommend that you visit this place before you ever have to deal with a hit or miss situation. This clinic is terrible. I took my puppy in because she got a plant in her ear. They wouldn't let me go back with him while he was being treated. They charged me $225 to remove a small foxtail, and said that it required sedation. My puppy is the calmest puppy and if I had been with him there would not have been any sedation required. The sedation made him very ill. I took him to the vet ( a different, legitimate vet) the following week as his ears were still sensitive. He had an ear infection because of what they did at the emergency clinic. Also, regarding payment, I did not have the right payment method with me at the time and was told to call and pay over the phone later. I called several times but was told that there was no one there to take my payment. THEN I got a letter from a collection agency regarding the payment! Also, by the way, while I was waiting in the waiting room for my dog to be treated, there were a couple disturbing things that happened. One, there was a very seriously injured dog that was literally bleeding all over the floor and the staff at the vet clinic asked the owner if the dog was "seriously injured"? And if he could "take him somewhere else" as maybe it was not an emergency. This was so sad, as there was literally blood all over the floor and the dog was very obviously in pain. Also, out of the three other people that came in with their pets, ALL THREE left without them, as in , they were put to sleep. This clinic is scary, unethical, and does more harm than good for your animal.Read Less

Over the years, I have been here more times than I can count with all of my dogs. Each time I have been, I have felt very grateful that these lovely people are in my neighborhood. Unlike other Pasadena area ERs, they do not price gouge and their rates have barely even gone up. My worst experience was with a senior rescue cocker spaniel named William who was very ill from the day I adopted him. One night I woke up hearing him go out the doggie door and not come back in. When I went out to see where he was, I found him passed out. By the time I got him to Eagle Rock Emergency, he had died in the car. They were kind enough to only charge me half of their regular rate. Since then, I have been there numerous times and I can't speak highly enough of this place. The receptionist/vet tech "Z" is always a pleasure to interact with. Very kind and compassionate. And Dr. Sullenberger as well. Going to the ER vet is rarely a happy experience, but it is the kind of service that I am very grateful to have so close by. Read Less

I took my cat to this emergency clinic because she was wheezing and appeared to have difficulty breathing with an accelerated heart rate, and had also had diarrhea the day before, and vomitted on the way there (which she always does in the car). I spoke with the receptionist on the phone before going there. She said it was hard to tell what the problem was, but if she had an accelerated heart rate I should bring her in. I did. I waited in the exam room for a long time, 20-30 minutes before the Vet even came into the room. When he finally did come in he was agitated and rude right off the bat. He looked at my cat that was lying on the exam table and said she looked fine to him. I began to read the list of issues that she had been having that evening that led up to me bringing her there in the middle of the night. He told me 3 times that I woke him up, he was tired, and that I was wasting his time. I got angry at that point. I asked for another doctor, he said he was the only one there. I told him that he chose that job, not me. I was in shock that a ""professional"" was having this kind of attitude. I asked him if he really thought I wanted to be there in the middle of the night with nothing wrong with my cat. Something was very wrong with her. He went out of the room and came back and and said that people kept coming in all night wasting his time, and he did 2 surgeries, so he was tired; then gave me some sort of an apology; he said he may have taken it out on me. No kidding. He gave my kitty a very brief exam, and didn't address her breathing issues. Her nose was running so badly that a puddle of water about the size of a quarter had formed under her nose on the table where she was lying. He kept saying over and over ""She's fine, there's nothing wrong."" He did decide to give her an outrageously priced shot to settle her stomach- even though my concern was the breathing problems. I asked if it would help with the breathing, and again, he told me there was nothing wrong. I had already decided that I was going to take her to her regular vet when the office opening in the morning because I didn't trust this guy's opinion. As soon as her doctor saw her- within the first minute- he said ""She has an upper-respirtory infection."" Her doctor went on to give her the treatment that she needed. I told him what had happened at Eagle Rock Emergency Pet Clinic. He was shocked. Don't go here if William Sullenberger is on duty- he's bad news. Oh, and they charged me $150 for a cat that had ""nothing wrong with her."" Read Less

Nothing can compare to being concerned about a pet and being treated so uncaringly, so rudely, so dispassionately horribly by the receptionist or vet tech or whatever she is at this clinic. In my entire life, and I am in my 60s, I have never been treated so badly by anyone in the service industry, let alone a veterinary facility. THEY DON'T CARE!!! You are an impediment to their day, a minor irritation they brush off. Can you bet your pet gets treated the same way? Some reviews are positive. Nurse Ratchet must have been out that day. Our eight year old Maltese had a stroke. We had to rush him to emergency. The doctor was so nice, and took the time to explain that our dog had cancer. The tumor was so large it was pressing on the spleen, had affected the brain, and that is what caused the stroke. He did not try to take unnecessary x-rays, or in any way charge us extra money. He explained that because the cancer had developed beyond his ability to save the dog, it was our choice to either do surgery (which would not save the dog long term) or we could put him down. We love our pets and do not want them to suffer unnecessarily. We did have the dog put down, and as difficult as it was to lose our loved one, we were so appreciative of the Doctor and Staff's compassion for us and our pet at that time.We highly recommend this emergency facility. Once we got there they were friendly and they seemed to care about my dog, and understood that money would a issue, they helped and we got a good price as opposed to other hospitals. If you live on the eastside, this is probably your only option, unless you want to go to West Hollywood. They are only open when other pet hospitals are closed and am glad they are there. Took my girl in last month when she got stung by something. I didn't know what it was, but they saw it right away and even told me what I needed to do, if I didn't want her seen. Since I was there, I had her seen by the vet. The support staff was no nonsense with plenty of resources had I wanted to go somewhere else. When my dogs were skunked the following week, they gave me a great cure and I appreciated the time they took and the willingness to see the pups after I bathed them (so as not to excite the other patients from the smell). I've only had to go to an emergency vet clinic once before for a minor ear infection. This time I took my 5lb pekingese and had good care. My dog had a ruptured abscess and they took really good care of her for a reasonable price(less expensive then Studio City Animal Hospital). This was not a quick visit and I had to leave my dog there for a few hours for surgery but while I was waiting there were other dogs brought in with pitbull bites and one who got hhit by a car and like any emergency clinic they got priority. I talked to others in the waiting room and one dog trainer and one cat foster person had repeatedly used this hospital when needed and that eased my mind a bit. Overall very helpful and my dog is recovering well. Read Less

Read Less

People were nice at front desk and when we got to see Dr Gupta, he was really friendly and helpful, but there wasn't a ton wrong with my dog (thankfully) so there wasn't much he could do besides give her some fluids. He didn't push me into extra tests; he did suggest we could do X-rays, etc but when i hesitated he dropped the subject as he knew she didn't need them. Brought in my vommiting cat. He also had bloody diarrhea. They wanted 1000$ for x ray, ultra sound and every other unnecessary test possible. I was balling my eyes out and no one even offered a tissue. I told them only do the x ray in case kitters ate something. Cost me 350$ plus 150 walk in fee. They claimed the xrays were inconclusive. Turns out regular vet read them and it was condensed hairballs! To make it worse, when it was time to check out the front desk woman said " I can charge you out now". Thank you so much Eagle Rock Emergency Pet Clinic, you guys are life savers! Read Less

I waited 6 hrs!!!! My dog had not been eating or going to the bathroom for 3 days. Her rear looked infected and I didnt want to wait another day, so I looked on yelp for a vet open on Sunday. She got an xray and an enema. They were reasonably priced but the wait was just ridiculous. Read Less
