Dr. Jordan is the epitome of a good veterinarian.  Extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely a wonderful person. He treated my little guy (we had to put him down)  and I'm so glad it was with Dr. Jordan. It was such a hard day and I couldn't of done it anywhere else. Unsure what other people are complaining about. I had the best experience here. The vet was super helpful, educational, and friendly with my dog. The staff was super nice and patient with my dog too. And they treated him like he was their own. They also didn't even charge me! It was amazing! They gave me a couple good referrals for dermatologists for my pup & I'm definitely going back here. Dr. Jordon is a money hungry veterinarian. He refused to see my cat because I had opted out of buying my cats medicine directly from him. Which he charged double the price online. Instead I purchase my cats food and medicine from chewy.com. The moment I arrived at the clinic, he said he never authorized me to buy my cats food and medicine from someone else. chewy.com requires a prescription so he did in fact have to fax the prescription to chewy.com. He asked me to take my cat to a specialist at ASPEC, but the Vets at ASPEC told me my cats treatment could have easily been done at his regular vets office. When I called back two days later to see if my cat could be transferred back to Dr. Jordon, He lied and he was going out of town for the rest of the month and could not see cat. Even though he was my cats regular Vet. My sister not knowing I had already spoken to Dr. Jordan called again a couple hours later only to find out that Dr. Jordan was indeed not going on vacation. He's just straight up lied to get out of treating my cat. Previously I had been so thankful for Dr. Jordan saving my cats life the prior year. And I really expected Dr. Jordon to be my cats Vet for the rest of there lives but now definitely never taking them back. If you love your pets DO NOT take them to Dr. Jordon. My dog hates going to the vet as much as I hate going to the doctor. After being referred to Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital by a friend, I decided to take my dog in when she got an ear infection. I would not recommend this vet office.  The office is overly dirty, especially the waiting area, with old fake plants that have never been dusted ever.  It just doesn't feel like a medical office, even for animals.   Then when my cat saw the vet, the vet recommended she have exploratory surgery (a 2nd opinion confirmed she definitely did not need surgery).  And the vet did not notice she had a heart murmur, which every other vet she has ever seen in the past 5 years had noticed.  Also, warning for people bringing cats in - during the examination, a woman stands beside the table ominously holding a rope near your cat... so she can grab the cat if it tries to get away?  I have no idea, but it made me very uncomfortable and I didn't want her putting a rope near my cat.  And finally, the vet wanted to make small talk while my cat was clearly unhappy and meowing about being examined. Dr Jordan & his staff are great, they are always warm and friendly and most importantly take great care of my cats. Normally my cats are pretty stressed when visiting a vet, but not with Dr. Jordan they feel safe and are calm. Today we had to say goodbye to our beloved 19 year old Maine-coon cat, it was so hard for us to say goodbye to our furry friend, but we are so thankful to Dr. Jordan for making it so peaceful for him. Dr Jordan did a gentle and thorough examination and gave us options- rather than forcing the most expensive (unnecessary) course of action. This vet is very experienced and wise and his team really care about their patients and Scotty had all his booster shots, which he hates, with little discomfort and regular treats to ease the pain! I loved this place. Got an appointment almost instantly. Went in just for a rabbies shot but due to doctor informing that if other shots are due we should cover that. Yes, i was going there due to cheaper price and good reviews, but ended getting an awesome service and doctor was very informative. Even suggested that just switching food and not bathing the dog as often, might fix my dog's 4 year old rash problem. Just to note, our previous vet said the only option was to give him allergie shots every 3 months!!!! Read Less

I'm was in need of a veterinarian ASAP and Dr. Jordan and his loving staff helped me without any hassles. I had previously gone to the, "veterinarian cancer group of Los Angeles" on Jefferson and  had such an atrocious experience with the receptionist there. I had an emergency in my hands my little birds where gravely ill, helpless I immediately called," la brea and melrose animal clinic" and they gave me an appointment that same day. Once I got there the experience was fast and without any problems. Extremely affordable and excellent care provided, I love this clinic and will promote, suggest or, whatever anyone wants to call it. I will forever be grateful for their patience and care for my little finches, Dr. Jordan helped me understand what the problem was and was able to provide excellent care. I had a really weird experience here and just got very odd vibes. My dog was given an antibiotic injection and even prescribed antibiotics after we confirmed through blood tests he didnt have any infections. So I was out $300 for really, nothing. When dealing w my dog, the doctor was pretty aggressive with him. My dog is 20lbs and wouldnt hurt a fly and he was super anxious with the way he was being handled. I wound up going to a different vet the very next day to get another opinion because I was so weirded out but my experience and even that vet didnt understand why my dog was given an injection. The new vet prescribed something else entirely which seems to have helped my dog.Not interested in ever going back to this particular vet. Read Less

So UNBELIEVABLE that I have rarely spoken of this story! I brought my chihuahua puppy here a while ago to be spayed. I do not remember exactly what I was quoted but it was something like $250. When I got there upon examination the vet told be my dog has an inverted vulva and the he could attempt to correct it with exploratory surgery. Without hesitating I said "no way - I just want her spayed". All was clear. I scheduled the spay surgery and dropped her off on spay day. I turned down the blood work and signed off for just the standard spay procedure. I went to pick her up and the receptionist said I had to pay first and the total was $750!!!!!!!!! What??? For a spay? I was in such disbelief. I didn't even have my credit cards on me and had to call my mother out of state to pay over the phone! What an outrage for a spay! I asked to see the bill and it was normal spay stuff: anesthesia, IV catheter for fluids, pain meds. Fine. Now just give me my dog back! I am most concerned with getting her back. The tech brings her out and OMG! Her entire body is bandaged up from front legs to rear! Whoa! She said the procedure "went well and was normal". Normal? As soon as I got home I took off the bandage and she had so many stitches that it looked like she had been opened up like a zipper with a dozen or so stitches from under her rib cage all the way down to the bottom of her belly. I was supposed to go back for suture removal in 2 weeks. I clearly went to a different vet who was disgusted. He said there should have been 2 stitches!! He also said that it was unheard of to have the dog's entire midriff bandaged up like that but since there were soooo many stitches it was needed and then... I could tell he didn't want to talk too badly about the vet who did the procedure so he just would stop talking and shake his head. After all this time, I cant help but to share this experience as it was horrific. This guy Dr Jordan I guess it was must have used my dog to train others or explore. It certainly was not on my vet bill that there were any other procedures performed. They must have just inflated the numbers to justify their actions yet no explanation as to why to dog was opened up like a zipper. I would expect that if something went wrong to be given an explanation by the doctor over the phone or when I came to pick her up. It didn't help that the office is old, dreary and depressing. I took my rat here for a tumor removal. Dr. Jordan informed me of all of the risks and charged me half the price I had been quoted elsewhere.  Unfortunately, my rat didn't make it. But the doctor was very upfront about the risks and very compassionate.  It's not easy to find an affordable vet that knows how to treat rats and cares about them. Very sad, but all you can ask is to have a vet that is compassionate, knowledgable and honest about a risky procedure. Despite a tough outcome, I'd definitely come here again and be sure to take my rat in before the tumor got so large. Read Less

I brought my dog to this place after googling their places of vet near to my place, he was itching and scratching hard, it was past 5pm already but they still accommodate me. I was greeted by the very friendly staff and never have to wait that long. Dr. Jordan was very nice and took really good care of my baby Teddy. He gave shots to get the itching off right away, and some meds to take for few days. They have a very competitive rates and the service is superb. They gave us new canned food for my dog to eat instead of chicken which I usually feed Teddy but it turned chicken gave him this itchiness. I am very happy I brought my little puppy here. Very helpful. We found a kitten and already have cats so we were nervous and didn't know what to do. But they were luckily open after 5pm, which is good because we have day jobs and there's no way we could've kept our cats separate from this stranger-kitten all night. They were available for us and kept him over night for no extra fee until we knew he was disease free and safe to bring home. They even lent me a carrier to bring him home in. We love this Veterinary clinic. We first brought our Four year old Golden Retriever for her annual shots and a few months later returned since she was limping. The doctor took vey good care of her. He gave her medicine to help with inflammations and pain and made great suggestions that got her back to good health. Recently, we brought our eight year old Border Collie for his annual shots and the doctor noticed he needs a better dental cleaning. We plan to book an appointment soon to bring both our dogs to have the much needed deep cleaning. I don't think I've ever posted a Yelp review before, but this hospital and it's staff deserve all the recognition in the world for their kindness, dedication, and honesty. I brought my puppy to this hospital because she'd been acting strangely; couldn't walk straight, wouldn't eat anything- Dr. Jordan and his team took her in on a moment's notice and gave us a bleak but honest prognosis. After this unfortunate accident, my four-month-old Pomeranian puppy had a 60% chance of survival. Dr. Jordan stayed overnight to save my dog's life; not out of obligation, and certainly not because he was being paid to do so. I left the hospital prepared for the worst, but ended up waking to a call from Dr. Jordan letting me know that my puppy was going to make it. With his kindness and dedication, Dr. Jordan nursed Poppyseed from critical condition to the energetic puppy she's always been. I must also mention the incredible kindness and bedside manner of Lindsey, who is clearly a kind, dedicated and intelligent assistant to a wonderful doctor. She helped calm both me and my partner during the initial panic of this emergency, and has been a comfort to our dog throughout her treatment. What a knowledgeable nurse and wonderful person she is.Never mind that this hospital is convenient and affordable; Dr. Jordan is absolutely brilliant and his staff are 100% dedicated to the health and wellness of your pet. We woke up to find our beloved doggy unable to move. We contacted Dr. Jordan who stated that we needed to bring him in immediately, and thank god we did! Apparently our beloved dog had inadvertently ingested some form of poison and Dr. Edd based on his vast experience recognized the symptoms right away and began treatment for the same. Thank goodness! Although it was touch it was touch and go, after 2 days of ICU, our doggy came home! What a miracle and a true blessing that we found the Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital! Read Less

Dr. Jordan always puts me in a great mood when I bring my pets to him I have two dogs and a cat and he sees all of them. He has fair and practical pricing I feel like going to the vet isn't as scary with him because I know that I'm not going to have to sell a kidney to get my pets taken care of.
