We are very pleased and relieved to have found Value Vet/Dr. Davidson, who is a rare gem amidst the morass of hysterically overpriced, under-par services dominating the L.A. marketplace. We have lived in the L.A. area for over a year and were still taking our two cats down to their vet in San Diego, but when we decided to adopt a stray cat and needed to get him fixed, examined, screened for diseases, cleaned up, etc., we wanted to try a local vet, and after extensive research brought him to Value Vet. The total bill came to $260, which was several hundred dollars less than we were quoted by other vets we checked with for the same result. One of them even quoted high prices for patently unnecessary procedures, insisting they were a prerequisite to surgery/neuterer him. We had to stop short of getting his shots (couldn?t afford even what we did get done), so that would have cost a bit more, but still less than other vets quoted for just the shots. We were so pleased with how efficient, compassionate, credible and reasonable they were that when one of our other cats suddenly became very ill last week, we brought him in to see Dr. Davidson. Again, we were very happy with the approach and result. We felt that the doctor took the time to listen to our description of the condition of the cat and thoughts as to why he might have become ill, and worked with us to decide upon a plan for treatment, taking a conservative and cost-effective approach. The total bill was somewhat hefty (although reasonable considering all the diagnostic work), but still far less than if he had simply made a snap judgment about the nature of the problem, summarily cut the cat open and then presented us with a bill for thousands of dollars that we could never afford to pay. Surgery was to be the last resort, which thankfully we did not have to resort to. Jaco responded well to the treatment and steadily improved over a few days, and now is pretty much back to his old self! Read Less
