Sorry but I'm done with this place! Dr Husky was a great and straight forward doctor that once saved my dogs life when my dog got poisoned. Recently my dog got a foxtail stuck in his paw and Doctor husky came through again. Despite the extremely high prices(foxtail removal was 408 bucks) he made it worth coming to this place... But after the foxtail removal  I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Husky to do some vaccines for my dog after his paw had healed. But a few days before my before my appointment I got a call saying he no longer works there! I came to the appointment since i had already prepaid for the vaccines, the doctor that saw me was Dr. Lisa Barron... I asked dr.barron if it was okay to take off the cone, she said it was fine but he still needs to take antibiotics... Okay fair enough... Then she pointed out a mole he had forever and asked me if the "bump" was new... One dr husky previously years ago diagnosed as a mole... I said he had for years then she asked about another "bump" which was his rib! My dog had lost weight because the cone made him not want to eat... Though of course he did eat but the whole thing had him depressed (he even cried no joke) and he didn't have much to eat in those 2 weeks so his ribs start to show... Anyway i told dr.barron it was his rib... Then she said okay and took off...the nurse came back with an estimate... This estimate was for the vaccines (that I already paid for) the antibiotics dr.barron recommended, and a "re-exam!" Apparently me asking her about the cone and her pointing out things I already knew like his mole that i didn't ask about at all... That counts as an exam.., or a "re-exam" (even though she never did the initial one!)... So i told the nurse that I already paid for the vaccines and asked her how this could possibly be an exam... Okay so they waived the fees but made me feel like some scumbag doing it... Came back saying "dr.barron said she'll waive the fee this time, but so you know in the future you have to pay for exams" look I've been coming here for a while now I'm aware exams aren't free... But i didn't come for an exam i came for vaccines, and if i was being charged i should be told its an exam before it starts... The exam is 50 bucks and to me that's not cheap... And if he needed it sure... But he just had an exam and again its just not right to not tell me about what you're going to charge me for a service i never asked for... Husky always made sure i know my totals before doing them... Sorry but like i said I'm done... Yesterday I was driving on Normandie Blvd. when I saw a kitten writhing in pain near the side of the road. A gentleman helped me put the kitten in a box. Since I was in an unfamiliar area I used my phone to locate one vet clinic which turned out not to have a vet on duty. Trying to stay calm I found a listing for Washington Dog and Cat Hospital and got there as fast as I could. Front desk staff was absolutely wonderful and so was Dr. William Husky who rushed into the room and did ascertain that the kitten had died. Although I had been hoping for a miracle - that kitty could be saved - I will always be grateful to Washington Dog and Cat Hospital for their kindness, calmness and professionalism during this emergency visit. They mainly wanted to sell you the most expensive treatments. E.g. my dog was bitten by fleas, and they doctors saw two fleas on her too. She still wanted me to buy the full examination, biopsy, which examines cancers, which costs $400. The doctor said without testing she doesn't know what it is. Doctors are supposed to learn about symptoms. Especially it's a common one. This made me a little disappointed. They also charge a little more than Western animal hospital. Exam fee is $48 (vs 35) and skin scraping test is $51 (vs 35) etc. We went to the Western animal hospital, and the doctor immediately diagnosed it to be flea allergy, without seeing fleas, and gave us medication that costs in total $177. If someone has a looooot of money to do a thorough examination it's fine. I'm talking about good doctors that can get symptoms right, then I'd go somewhere else, because Washington Dog and Cat hospital won't tell you anything. Either the doctor doesn't know, or they don't want to tell you so you can buy expensive tests. Read Less

Bring your pets here. I adopted kittens 2 years ago and ran around la trying to find good trustworthy vets and I found them here. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Barron and Dr. Wong. They really cared about my cat when he had urinary issues. They spent a lot of time with me asking me lots of questions and explaining the options. I was impressed. They didn't want me to spend a lot on unnecessary tests and procedures but explained what was necessary and what can be ruled out. I've been to other vets around la and they seemed like a drive thru experience. The rest of the staff are great, friendly, and knowledgeable. The place was also the cleanest vet office I've ever been to. We've found our pet hospital and I wish them the best. Read Less

It may not look like much from the outside, but this is a great place to bring your pet! Reasonable prices + very caring Dr.'s. Urgent walk-in's are treated well + seen promptly. I have never had to wait more than a few quick minutes. Vet gently gave my extremely sick doggie a thorough examination + asked me detailed questions about my pet's symptoms, appearance, behavior changes, appetite, etc. (Be as detailed as you can + include even minor things u have noticed.) Vet diagnosed it to be a raging tooth infection. My poor baby! Total Price: ONLY $100 !! Yes, that's right. Only $100 for Emergency Walk-In Exam + 2 medications?? Amazing. They saved my doggie AND my budget. However, I was advised to get dog's tooth extracted soon + that is not cheap anywhere. But now, at least I can plan for it. Arf! Arf! Main entrance in Rear. Parking in Rear. Or park at curb + push Front Door buzzer. Quiet waiting area is roomy enough to keep pets separated. Flea treatments, medications, nutritional products, dry + wet foods, training aids, harness + leash items, more! Read Less

I started going to this vet 2 years ago. At first it was great, Dr. Husky was the best. But it seems as though he no longer works there and the service has drastically declined. I was just in for my pets yearly exam, and they wanted to charge me $300 for routine wellness tests... $300 for a healthy animal to have blood and urine work. The doctor also acted as though she had never touched an animal before. (I had originally referred my boyfriend to take his dog here and he mentioned the same thing about the doctor being unsure of touching the dog and then wanted to insist he had flees, which he does not. She proceed to comb him looking for 15min to find no trace of flees.) Along with this they completely failed to mention anything about the fact that my pet was in need of his vaccines. I didn't learn of this until I was leaving and asked for a copy of his records, I need proof he is up to date on his shoots as I am moving. They tell me they have no record of him having ANY vaccines. So they completely disregarded a known medical need for my pet to get his vaccines, yet wanted me to pay hundreds of dollars for "ROUTINE" tests. I have had this animal for 5 years, I called his former vet to get copies of his medical records to see what he needs and even though he has had blood work and routine tests done before, never has it been for the price they wanted me to pay, nor was it even needed. I brought my pets records with me to my first visit here, though they failed to make any note of this. I will now have to pay for another vet visit, somewhere else, to get my pet vaccinated. I have no confidence in the Vet that I saw, which was the same my partner saw with his dog, in being a competent medical provider. Read Less

Wonderful, caring staff and a great place to trust with the care of your furry friends. All the doctors are very skilled and compassionate. They call you repeatedly after a procedure to follow up and make sure everything is progressing accordingly. Even if your specific vet is not available, another doctor will review your pets records and do everything they can to help you in person or over the phone. I have an 11 year old 100 lb dog who does not like vet visits and they are great at handling him and comforting him to alleviate any further stress. I highly recommend Washington Dog and Cat Hospital. We have lived many places around the country and been to many vets in southern california and this is certainly one of the very best. I think it is a low-cost place but you would never be able to tell by the top notch care and highly capable and competent staff. Thank you for always taking superb care of my best friend!!! Read Less

Read Less

My cat was attacked by a stray dog that wouldn't leave my front yard. I took her to Washington Animal Hospital, and they were great with her. I never took her in before now had an appointment, but I got in on Saturday morning shortly after they opened. We had an exam shortly after and left her for treatment. Basil had to get her hair clipped and treated for the dog bite. It was sad to see her in pain, but with her cone and treatment plan set up she was good to go. Read Less

The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars was the lack of gentleness or empathy when the girl at the front desk was ready to collect the slightly hefty bill. A simple question of whether or not we could break the payment in half, became an incompassionate and rather degrading request apparently. Unfortunately, that in humane treatment from her took away a but from the wonderfully humane team of vets and techs on board here.

Read Less
