Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics

Menlo Park, California
General Info
Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics, renowned and trusted by caregivers across Menlo Park California, focuses on the veterinary sessions’ nature as an exchange of emotions through matching pace contrast cues and flexible structure of interactions. Each visit begins with calibration evaluation. During the calibration, we observe how the pet enters and check their speed and orientation gaze flicker stability. Care does what others do in return. The cat coiled, and the staff fled. When a dog is beginning to lean, the motion is incremental and proceeds gradually. Physical contact occurs much later, only after stable signals of readiness are established. Notice how silence often follows interaction, space follows proximity, and light follows dimness. Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics administers several treatments, including dermatology nutrition refinement, joint care disease screening, and pain mitigation. The decision tree method exempted investigators from needlessly conducting the entire sequence of tests. The further they go, the more peaceful and relaxed they become. Historically, anxious animals can use observations to complete the test without going on a downward spiral. Discharge protocols are designed to support the animal owner in identifying what signals they need to pay attention to, how to structure proximity/engagement, and how to use rhythm (meals, walks) in order for the organism to achieve balance. Families are also provided with resources on emotional pacing in addition to medical aftercare. These smaller qualitative changes ensure that coming home feels like coming home and not just a detailed replica. Steinbeck Peninsula Equine Clinics brings quality care to Menlo Park, California homes by listening before speaking, mirroring before handling, and responding before prescribing. The team provides a variety of specialized services, including Dental Care, Diagnostics, Equine Care, House Calls, and In-House Pharmacy. Clients consistently commend the practice for its commitment to care and personalized attention to the pets’ needs. Whether it’s a routine checkup or a complex surgical procedure, the clinic ensures your pet receives the best possible care in a relaxing and comforting atmosphere.

I don't know about the other vet's at this practice (my friend uses the main vet and has nothing but nice things to say about him) but my experience was with Dr. Bart. His bedside manner is atrocious, he berated and belittled me, when I went to answer his questions he talked loudly over me not letting me speak. He also on the phone yelled "YOUR WELCOME" when he was done with his diatribe over the soundness of my horse and hung up. I am in San Diego and had my eye on an OTTB in the Sacramento area. Not knowing who to call there, I was referred to Peninsula equine. LIttle did I know, my vet here knows of them and said it was a great pick, as well! Dr. Halsberghe was prompt and seems to have been very efficient with the visit time. He called me as soon as he was done to keep me in the loop. He recommended a few xrays and ultrasounds and, as much as I was not eager for the bill that I knew would be coming, it ended up being an excellent choice to ease any possible concerns. I asked if, despite a few small things here and there, the horse would be a good fit for what I wanted to do and he gave me a quick "absolutely" as well as reassurances of how well behaved the baby horse had been for the appointment. He is here with me now and is an incredible horse. Thank you so much, Peninsula, especially with how smoothly everything went with me so many hours away! Read Less

My horse had treatment for colic through them and also a minor surgery to remove melanomas. I had agreed a price upfront with them and when the bill came it was double that. After some discussion, they explained to me that the surgery had been more complicated than previously thought and for various other reasons the bill was higher. I unhappily paid it. This vet practice is very good, but beware of their prices which are outrageous. They are certainly catering to people with a lot of money. If you are OK with that,  they have very good vets. The best equine vets-bay area.    Any horse loving person wants a veterinarian they can  trust. One that you know has the knowledge and skill to make you confident that your animal is in the best hands. "PennEq" instills such confidence. They are a group of equine vets who are friendly, skilled and have good "bedside manners".  Being skilled vets, they also know when to refer to UC Davis, recognizing critical  situations beyond their capabilities. The best equine medical advice we have ever gotten was from Dr .Matt  Randel  who suggested, and then administered hock injections. He gently coaxed us toward this expensive and somewhat risky procedure. Brandy had had episodes of lameness. Miraculously, after the injections,  she has gone 4 years without a hint of lameness.  This is very unusual for a horse prone to lameness.  We are very happy with the outcome!  Our horse has gone on to compete in drill team competitions as well as the Rose Bowl Parade and the Equifest.  We have had a couple of emergencies, as has anyone  who owns a horse.. When Brandy lacerated her skin and eye socket, blood gushing everywhere, we were fortunate to have a vet who specialized in plastic surgery. This is the kind of focused care that one hopes for and you receive with the good doctors and staff at Penn Eq. . Read Less

I can not say enough good things about this group. I had a horse with a mystery lameness, I had another local vet look at him several times with no real answer or treatment plan. Someone had suggested Dr.Russ Peterson should have a look at him. I hauled him to their clinic, had a lameness exam, digital xrays and got some answers to his problem and a riding program to bring him back. 3 months later we competed in our first show in over 1 year and he was 3rd out of 63 horses first time out! Dr.Peterson did not suggest injecting every joint as the previous vet did, and gave me really good advice for longterm results. Excellent service all the way around. Read Less
