Like others, I give Dr. Comilla and the clinic staff my highest recommendation.  Everything about coming to their office was pleasant and welcoming.  Loved the chalkboard sign welcoming Annie, my new rescue, and the time the Dr. spent with us trying to figure out why she was suddenly not feeling well.  Thanks to his taking the time to let her communicate as he laid his hands on her and felt around to "see where it hurts", we got a diagnosis and she was back to herself within days.I am even more impressed by the NextDoor story of how the MV Pet Clinic scooped up the grey cat on Almonte and Miller when they heard that it had been hit by a car, then followed up to get it medical attention.  Clearly, Dr. Comilla and his office staff are committed to kindness and giving back as members of the Mill Valley community.   Such principled good people are hard to find these days. ** Compassionate and Intimate family vet **If you are looking for a new vet, or to switch to a caring family vet, look no further. I just moved to Mill Valley from Chicago and scoured the web for a new vet. I have two senior dogs that have a lot of health issues, so finding the right person to care for them is very important. Luckily, when my 13 year old got very sick yesterday, I remembered reading great reviews about Mill Valley Pet Clinic, and gave them a call at 2pm. They were able to get Blondie in at 4pm the same day. When I arrived they had a sign on the chalkboard welcoming her into the family. That small gesture set the tone for my entire visit. The vet techs were so friendly and careful with my old dog. I was even able to watch them inject her with Sub Q fluids, and they held her in their arms the entire time. Dr. Comella was equally as compassionate and patient. He thoroughly examined my dog and discussed her entire history with me- his patience was very refreshing. Dr. Comella did not push any unnecessary treatments and listened to what I was comfortable with. I've never felt so welcomed with a new vet. I'm happy to say that Blondie is feeling much better today and I can thank the staff at Mill Valley Pet Clinic for that! I already made an appointment for my other dog to visit next week and get a dental cleaning from Dr. Comella. Read Less

I found a bunch of places on Yelp that looked good and this was the first place I called. Kirsten was so nice on the phone I didn't bother calling anyone else. Dr. Comella was thorough and not pushy or up selling us in any way. In fact I said I was very concerned about our dogs getting Lyme disease and we wanted the vaccination. Dr. Comello advised that although it wouldn't hurt, it was not necessary in this area. I appreciated his honesty. A lot of vets would have just given us the vaccines and taken the $$. He gave the dogs a full check up and talked to us for a long time, no rush. And he listened. We will be back! Read Less

I don't know where to start here. If you want to spend an arm and a leg, 3x what you would spend in san rafael or novato, go here...I received my bill today for my dog's ear infection and it came to $200...$55 of this bill was "ward occupancy daytime/canine", which is in addition to the consultation and treatment. It's basically like they tack on the day rate of dog daycare, there's also a staff nursing fee tacked on. My dog is tilting his head and walking around miserable, he's worse off than when I took him in so, needless to say, this will be my LAST VISIT at this vet. It's unfortunate because I really wanted to find someone local that I respect, trust, and doesn't overcharge. My dog's health is truly the most important thing in the world to me, but I also don't want to go broke every time I take him in for a checkup, shots, etc. I had his shots here many months back and thought they seemed astronomical but decided to give this place a second chance. The assistant could not have handled this any worse, communication skills lacking and incredibly RUDE. So disappointed with my experience at Mill Valley Pet Clinic. They are going to drive themselves right out of business unless things change. Last night around closing time, I burst into MV Pet Clinic with a beloved 19 year old cat who appeared to be having some sort of choking attack.  Dr Charles and 2 techs stopped everything and went to work on her, giving her mouth to mouth, shots to the leg and chest, oxygen, tubes down the throat and more-- they did everything they could to save sweet Alley's life. Turns out she was having a heart attack and it was too late- at 19, it was her time to go. What stands out for me most is how willing these folks were to step up when we most needed it. This kitty was not their client, but we needed help NOW and they did not hesitate. What also stands out is how kind they were to me, and how kind they've been to her mom today, who had been out of town at the time. Nothing is worse than not being able to hold and comfort your pet as they pass -it's heartbreaking. Not only did they call me for her address to send a card, but they also refused to charge her. I saw what they did, I was in the room- this was a full triage situation with multiple staff and many expensive supplies used. But kindness still came 1st today. Thank you Dr Charles and team. You are good, kind people and we will cherish you forever. I will always consider Alley lucky to have crossed the rainbow bridge with you by her side. Read Less

Get ready to be up-sold unnecessary tests if you come to this vet.  My dog has been on heart worm medication consistently since I rescued him 6 years ago.  Hearing this, no vet has ever insisted that I have a $74 heart worm/Lyme disease test before they would provide me with a prescription for the monthly heart worm tabs until this one.  He begrudgingly gave me a six month supply after I offered to take my business elsewhere the first time we met.  Upon trying to renew, I received the same old song and dance--have the $74 test or no Rx. So, off we go next week, back to our awesome old vet in the city. Also, a word to the wise... Don't bother to mention that you feed a raw diet if you come here, or be prepared to be looked at like you are crazy and peppered with "facts" that are a lot more applicable to humans than dogs.Wish I could recommend this place, since it is walking distance from my house, but I'd rather drive the 15 miles back to SF for vet care than come here and be pressured like this again. Im sorry to read about your one star experience at the Pet Clinic....and yes, I would agree, that any substantial costs to the pet owner should be discussed before moving forward....I am new to the area here in this lovely village of Mill Valley, and I live alone with my 5 year old English blonde Lab, "Moosey"....he is the most loving, caring and sweet part of my family, and I am VERY VERY thorough in regard to human beings that Moosey is with if Im not around. WE protect each other in a crazy growing world, where at times people get caught up in that momentum. But our best friends, our pets do not. He keeps me grounded, and reminded of what real love is....THAT ALL SAID- my good friend Leudmilla referred me to go and see Charlie at the Pet Clinic when Moose had his canine needs...and yes, I thought the inititial appointment was a bit costly, but soon as Charlie and I acknowledged how much I love and care for my dog, (which Charlie does as well to say the least...), and that I am not a wealthy man- get to know CHARLIE!! Charlie is a GOOD MAN! Once you have a relationship so to speak with the next most important person in your pet's world then yours, being Charlie- then you will appreciate how much he DOES CARE about you and your pet/'best friend'!!!! Charlie is not there to rip off anyone...but you must speak with the man who is helping you....I give Charlie, Mandy and all else at the Clinic a 5-PLUS. THANKS Read Less

I opened a Yelp account just so I could sing the praises of this place.I brought my cat in today after he seemed lethargic and wasn't eating. The vet tech was super nice, and Dr. Comella spent 45 minutes with me asking me about Niles, looking at his past history, and going over possible diagnoses and options. When they needed to keep him for a few hours to get some blood and urine samples, they worked with me to find a convenient time for me to pick him up (I work a 9-5 job). Dr. Comella said he'd even wait until after business hours if I couldn't make it before they closed at 5.When I arrived to pick Niles up, the vet techs were SO sweet, bringing him bundled up in a towel and cuddling him, telling me what a sweet lovable cat he is. They had given him a warming pad to keep him toasty and comfortable. Dr. Camella took extra time to show me how to properly administer his antibiotics (and how to give a cat a pill--not easy I'm tellin' you) and gave me a pill pusher to help me get those meds down.Tomorrow is Saturday and they're going to call me with his test results--on a Saturday! So impressed. I totally trust them with Niles and am in awe over how caring, informative, and helpful the entire staff is. Read Less

She even called me at home to check in.  She was so caring and thoughtful.  I am very grateful.  Dr. Comella is also great.  I always enjoy seeing him.  He is very knowledgeable and doesn't mind explaining and teaching me  (Teddy is my first dog). Our dog doesn't mind going here either.  They shower him with love and give him lots of treats. I recently reunited with this clinic and Dr. Comilla.  I've moved all over Marin in my 25 years here and always try to go to a well recommended vet closest to my house to reduce my pets' stress.  Moving back to southern marin, i had an opp to see dr. comilla again.  I was reminded how kind and patient he is during the office visit.  He's gentle with the animals and doesnt rush you through a diagnosis. When I used his services 12 years ago, it during my first experience with a beloved pet passing.  They were very gracious with me during a difficult time. They are not the most inexpensive vet I've used but I dont mind as the office is clean, no odors like some others I wont name plus the staff is nice, easy to get an appointment.  I'm just hoping he doesnt retire soon. What can I say... I am going to miss everyone at this lovely clinic. We lived in Marin for 8 years and during those 8 years our dogs were so taken care of every time we brought them in...from allergic to bee stings and cut paws to emergency surgery preformed on my dog that got her front teeth knocked out by my others dogs big head....They have always been super comforting and have always showed both of my dogs super doggy love.  Unfortunately we moved and we are going to miss our old neighborhood vet. Keep up all the great work and many hugs to you all Read Less

Read Less

Before selecting a new veterinarian here in Mill Valley (I just moved to this wonderful town) I visualized the perfect vet and then came here - to Yelp - to see who would best match what I wanted.- I wanted an old-time local vet in a small, personally owned practice with a loyal, experienced staff.- I wanted a vet who took his time and thought more about the animal's holistic welfare than which code he was going to use to wrack up the highest bill possible.- I wanted a vet who did his job more out of love than money.- I wanted a vet who knew the issues associated with this area of the country - when ticks are in season, what kinds of diseases to watch out for...- I wanted a vet who would take his time and teach me about my animals' health.***I found all of this and more in Dr. Charles "Charlie" Comella's Mill Valley Pet Clinic.***Charlie quickly identified by dog's staff infection, gave me price options for tests and cures and encouraged me to take care of my pup's teeth at a future visit, without making me feel badly that I hadn't yet done it.I am one gazillion percent satisfied with Dr. Charlie Comella and his lovely team.If you want an experienced small town vet with high values and a big heart, Mill Valley Pet Clinic is for you. We moved our pet care to Mill Valley Pet Clinic when our 15 year old dog was suffering from a terminal illness. They were understanding, supportive, and pragmatic in their treatment. She got the best treatment we could provide under the circumstances. Since then, we have had three of our dogs under their care and in every case they were caring and reasonable providing us with options and recommendations that made sense. They were also accomodating and flexible with our financial needs and pressures. They are the best clinic that we have found in the Bay Area.Read Less

I highly recommend  Dr. Comella and Dr. Willis.I have been taking our doodle Teddy here since we got him when he was 10 weeks old.  Dr. Comella and Dr. Willis are outstanding doctors, very thorough and very caring.   Susan, Susan, and  Kirsten are also awesome and your pet will love them.  If you sit in the waiting room, Susan's dog Gunnar might even sit next to you to comfort you :)About 10 days ago, Teddy had to have surgery on his neck for a wound.  Dr. Willis did the procedure.    Teddy stayed overnight at the office I knew he was in good hands.   Dr. Willis gave me a lot of instruction on how to make him comfortable while he was healing, and how to keep him from bothering the sutures. Dr. Charlie has been caring for my pets almost twenty years. Reading between the lines, it seems that the detractors failed to have any sort of a dialog with the vet.
