I took my pets here before and they only want your money. They convinced us to get Care Credit because we couldn't afford the OUTRAGEOUS cost of our pet's treatment, which they NEVER discussed with us beforehand. This place will not give you a printed out estimate before treatment, like most reputable veterinarians. Care Credit ruined our credit, and it was all because of these people! They also will not give you a print out of your pet's blood work, and they miss important information which should be EXTREMELY OBVIOUS to a trained/GOOD veterinarian! They will send your sick pet home with no information other than to "monitor" their situation, especially if they know you don't have a lot of money for treatment. To top it off, everyone there is RUDE and acts like you're doing them a disservice by bringing them business. The British woman at the front desk acted like I was wasting her time, and the vet had HORRIBLE bedside manners! NEVER BRING YOUR PET TO THIS TERRIBLE PLACE!! Read Less

My cats and I have been coming to this veterinary clinic for almost a decade! We are always treated with care and kindness by all the staff, and my cats are handled gently and by competent assistants. We have been seen by Dr. Amy Long Goulart and, most recently, Dr. Nate Fichtenberg, and they are great - friendly, thorough, compassionate, and informative. Nobody is pushy here, except maybe on days when the clinic is very full (and understandably so). Prices are fair and comparable to other clinics, especially for the quality of care. (Dental cleanings cost way more than other places, but only because they believe in doing full blood workups to make sure your fur baby can be safely anesthetized.) They even partner with San Jose Animal Center to offer free checkups to new adoptees! Sometimes the wait to check-in and to be seen are long, but it's about the same as with any other vet I've been to (with friends' pets) and not much longer than waits at doctors' offices for humans. The facilities are always clean and they even have a separate entrance/waiting area for dogs and cats (I saw bunnies on the cat side last visit), and complimentary treats. If you have never been here, take advantage of their new patients discount and give Parktown Veterinary Clinic a try! Read Less

I want to extend a very heartfelt and sincere THANK YOU to Parktown Veterinary Clinic. I came here after going to anther vet that was absolutely unhelpful. My 8 year old Chihuahua stopped eating and after a previous vet visit completely stopped moving. After calling around they were able to get us in even without an appointment and the wait time was less than 15 minutes. Kudos the girls working the front, didn't catch any names but you guys were friendly and very quick given we were new to the clinic. Dr. Amy was very concerned and did a complete exam and offered to call the previous clinic to get the bloodwork results since they should have already came back by the next day ( they have them ready and fax them over yet they never called me ). She lets me know there is nothing out of the normal range so she does some more tests and the X-ray comes back with the reason he has been refusing food. His discs have been pinching/rubbing causing him pain and the cause of not eating and moving. This has progressed for some time but is only being caught now. Dr. Amy send us off with a prescription and soft wet food that should be easier to feed him with the pills. He get a steroid shot that perks him. Along with her compassion our bill was reasonable, exams included and far less than the other vet and was able to actually able to diagnose what was wrong with our dog. He is now eating, running around with our toddler, and gaining his weight back. THANK YOU to ParkTown Veterinary  Clinic, you are absolutely stellar. Your literally SAVED our dogs life. Read Less

My dog accidentally got his dewclaw stuck on something and thus it was twisted in a very painful way. I spent an hour looking for any open clinic since most places were starting to close. I came upon Parktown Veterinary Clinic and I'm super glad I chose this place. The parking was rather hard to get too and the waiting room is rather on the smaller side. They have two waiting rooms, one for dogs and one for cats. My dog isn't friendly with people he doesn't know and can be aggressive when he is scared, but the doctor and the nurses made the visit simple for us. You could tell they knew what they were doing and the nurse that day was sincerely sweet. They did everything from putting on a muzzle on him to removing the dewclaw. At other clinics, I had to put on a muzzle for him and it can be a challenge.  Needless to say, he was much happier at the end and I could tell he was feeling a lot less pained. It was also seriously funny to see him go from muzzle to the cone of shame. I utilized the yelp online deal and they also gave the first exam for him for free. The total only included the rabies shot he had to update, some antibiotics, and the cone. It was very affordable and a lot of help.  ** Parking can be hard to get to since it only has one entrance/exit and can be easily missed if you drive too far past it. The parking lot itself is fine. The bathrooms are located behind the doors to the exam rooms. Read Less

My dog had swelling in her gums and below her eye which led me to believe she had a tooth root abscess. I went to a different clinic in Newark which did an exam and sent me home with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds and said if the infection didn't clear up, I should go back after the antibiotics finished for a possible extraction. Doing some research, antibiotics likely won't permanently clear a tooth infection because they can't penetrate the tooth into the root. I started to research availability of dental x-ray/radiograph machines which most veterinary clinics don't have, but Parktown Vet Clinic has on site. I scheduled her in for an exam (free for first time patients, otherwise $50) and dental cleaning knowing she'd likely need an extraction. Dr. Fichtenberg saw a slab fracture in the 4th premolar that the other clinic's vet didn't notice. He and a technician explained the procedure and gave an estimate for the cleaning and extraction. All in all, it cost almost $700 for blood work, IV catheter, anesthesia, cleaning, extraction, injections and meds. I bought the Yelp deal for an extra $25 off which is one-time use at the clinic. He called after the procedure to explain how it went and answered any other questions I had. The rest of the staff were helpful and kind. I'm very happy with the level of service and competency, and my dog is doing very well post surgery. Please don't wait to get a tooth extracted because it's very painful for the animal. For reference, a veterinary dentist (a specialist) in San Carlos gave me a quote of $1000 only for diagnosis (anesthesia and x-rays), not including extractions or root canal. Read Less

Came to this veterinary clinic based on yelp reviews and I am pleased to say that I had a great experience! This location has a small private parking lot and has 2 separate entrances for dogs and cats. Thankfully, I was able to book an appointment for the same day and there was not a long wait time for my dog to be seen. An extra plus is that the first exam for new clients is FREE! Dr. Thur and her assistants were very friendly and they were able to examine my dog thoroughly without feeling rushed. After they prescribed my dog with some medication the assistant afterwards was also very friendly and polite, explained the full breakdown of what the doctor had diagnosed, and she even gave us some time to think about our options. As my dog being a new client to this vet, I am glad to say that this is now my go to clinic for my pet needs. Thank you Parktown Vet! Read Less

But now that we are at home recovering I have called a couple of times for assistance questions and concerns on medication two days in a row and have not received any call back. I went as far as calling another veterinarian office to asks common questions. I called back to Parktown explain to them my frustrations then I started getting a little service. I have been taking my dogs to this vet for about nine years. I have had nothing but positive experiences. While all vets are expensive, Parktown is pretty reasonable and many of their prices are much lower than competitors. Money aside, I love the staff and the vets. Dr. Long Goulart literally saved one of my dogs life, and charged me half what the emergency vet was going to. She has rescued him on several occasions from all manor of self inflicted injuries. Dr. Thur performed some very complicated surgery on another of my very ill dogs, and in doing so was able to extend his life for another very precious four months. Dr. Fichtenberg has also given check-ups to and treated my dogs, though luckily they have not needed to see him for anything major. :) All of the veterinarians in this office are competent and compassionate. I trust them completely with the well being of some very important family members. I moved to the East Bay six years ago, and I still make the drive to Milpitas for vet care, because I have not found a better, more trustworthy place to go. Read Less

However I was running late (due to not living anywhere near the facility and Bay Area traffic) and I called them to let them know. The receptionist told me if I can't be there in 5 minutes I'll have to reschedule because it will cut into the doctors lunch, questioned me about the flea medicine and it was only for "chip" and other dogs can't use it. No one ever mentioned another dog! I asked her what the name of it was and then she told me I should ask my husband. Pretty much her attitude and the way she treated me has changed my mind about taking any of my pets there! Good business begins with the face of the company.... brought my dog there for a physical to qualify for insurance. first time and last time i will go there. here's why. the vet tried to convince me to buy 3 medications for one minor condition i particularly remember how she pushed for a package of medications when i told her he had diarrhea-(don't all dogs get it? and don't their bodies regulate themselves?) anyhow she convinced me that he might have jardia (spell?) so i bought two for that. then she lobbied me to buy some medication to soothe his stomach! i could see the cash register going cha ching cha ching. so we finish, i go out to the front counter to pick up the medications, and i'm thinking i might drop the stomach soothing one--but there is dr. crabtree, pretending to look at some chart while over her shoulder, she watches to make sure I pay and pick up ALL 3. overall, i felt shoved and pickpocketed so to speak. granted, i'm very sensitive about pushy, aggressive women - just being candid. but i'm telling you, she sold me 3 medications for one minor problem!!

Read Less

They are amazing! They always make time for us when we have a sick or injured pet. They have been so helpful and generous, especially with our foster dogs! The doctors here definitely have a soft spot for animals in need and we wouldn't trust our business to anyone but Parktown! Thank you guys for being so awesome! Read Less

Pet owners in the South bay would do well to consider sending their loved ones to this clinic. The doctors and staff are kind and the prices are fair. Highly recommended.

Brought my lab Jimbo in for a checkup. The clinic was well kept and in great condition, unlike many clinics in the Bay Area. The staff was kind and the doctors seemed very knowledgeable. Even offered free advice by recommending EVO for Jimbo's food and didn't try to push me on Hill's Lab like every other vet out there. I will definitely be coming back to this clinic for their overall service. Read Less

brought my dog there for a physical to qualify for insurance. first time and last time i will go there. here's why. the vet tried to convince me to buy 3 medications for one minor condition i particularly remember how she pushed for a package of medications when i told her he had diarrhea-(don't all dogs get it? and don't their bodies regulate themselves?) anyhow she convinced me that he might have jardia (spell?) so i bought two for that. then she lobbied me to buy some medication to soothe his stomach! i could see the cash register going cha ching cha ching. so we finish, i go out to the front counter to pick up the medications, and i'm thinking i might drop the stomach soothing one--but there is dr. crabtree, pretending to look at some chart while over her shoulder, she watches to make sure I pay and pick up ALL 3. overall, i felt shoved and pickpocketed so to speak. granted, i'm very sensitive about pushy, aggressive women - just being candid. but i'm telling you, she sold me 3 medications for one minor problem!! Since her style is blunt and abrasive, if you put the two together--well, you make the call. one thing is for sure- you won't see me there! Read Less

Over 15 years these folks have been my pets doctors. They took care of them as though they were their own. When it was time for my cat to be put to sleep they considered my feelings as well as what was best for the cat. To show me they cared I was sent flowers after his death. What more could you ask from you pets doctors? Read Less
